Cedric Maxwell has a great sense of humor. I'm pretty sure he used to do the really good MJ voice impersonation on the local sports talk radio station.
The Bad Boys were the last firewall that checked Jordan and his Bulls for a short time before they finally dominated the rest of the decade after 1990.
AC Green was my favorite player after Magic growing up and I took to his play style as well, always playing and always in the hustle, he never missed a game or a practice, that is commitment right there.
I saw a pre-season game that Rambis played in. Midway through warmups my friend says to me. I'm watching Rambis, and he hasn't missed yet. I'm thinking he's shooting close to the basket. Nope he was shooting from outside 10 feet to 3 point range and beyond. He never missed.
I saw Rudy LaRusso do something similar. He was the 3rd option on the Lakers. Lakers were doing an exhibition - I think it was the year they had Gene Wiley at Center, or maybe LeRoy Ellis. LaRusso was at half court flinging up hook shots - 10 in a row before he missed. We were amazed. (1964?)
A lot of LOLz in that clip. Should've had the Rambis posterizing Chocolate Thunder clip. It's a classic. Re: A.C. Green. He came to our workplace and the Lakers fans there got to meet him (after he had retired). We got pictures with him. I'm a shade under 5'10" and I asked, 'Can I shake your hand for a picture?" and he said 'sure' - my hand was like a baby's hand in his. No wonder he could grab that orange Wilson - it was like a golf ball in his mitts. BTW, the Cedric Maxwell clip was hilarious with the Rambis Youth, especially when he chucked the ball the wrong way. I cracked up.
Dunno what this vid talking bout, Thomas' 'innocent smile'. Watching Thomas play as I grew up, I always thought he looked like a fuckin serial killer when he smiled.
That era of the nba was the best. They played ball, they fought and continued to play. Refs let the game go on. Now its so watered down, fouls get called for breathin on someone to hard. I highly doubt if any of the best offensive teams now could compete with any of the best defensive teams then. The 89-90 Pistons wasnt a joke.... well the whole 'bad boys 1" Pistons was in a class of their own. You fought 1 you damn near fighting all of them. Badboys 2 era with ben wallace and "sheed" was good to. Id go as far as to say the mid 90' Knicks tried to immulate the badboys 1 though. aggressiveness.
I'm surprised there wasn't a clip of when J.R. Reid knocked two of A.C.'s teeth out when he played for the Suns. A.C. picked his teeth up walked calmly back to the locker room, had surgery later that day and played the next game. I'm sort of sad he's not still rockin' the Jerri Curl though
Kurt "Dirty White Boy" Rambis. One of my all time favorites. He was slow, couldn't shoot, couldn't do a lot of things. But he could defend and rebound, and had more heart than many. He never backed down either.
He didn't care if he got knocked out chasing a loose ball into the stands, either. He was going to get that ball if he could so they could have possession. He should have worn a hard hat.
Nature is full of examples of cute but deadly like the gerbil, never turn your back on a gerbil. Richard Gere did, and we all know what happened with that.
