Lawyers in mock trial talk a lot. Like, a lot. Because of that, everyone who's served as a mock trial attorney has slipped up a time or two and said something they probably shouldn't have. So, in this episode, we're going to go over four phrases that mock trial attorneys should avoid and remove from their vocabularies.

Great video! As (probably) the highest ranked attorney in Canada, I hope you don't mind if I add a bit to your video: 1) As the video mentioned, never thank the judge after they sustain your objection or anything of the sort. I remember an inexperienced attorney constantly thanking the judge for no reason and I started cringing very hard. The judge called him out for it and appeared to be very annoyed. 2) Don't put a bunch of filler words into your questions. Don't say random things like "thank you for your honesty", "well I am glad you brought that up" during your DX or CX. It is unnecessary. Looping and headlining are pretty important but try not to use these random phrases. 3) Don't make your closing statement something like "such frivolous emancipation". Make it human, make it understandable, and make it easy to follow.

Yes!!! Adding in commentary during directs and crosses is definitely a bad idea. And you're absolutely right that closing arguments should sound human-not like an academic report.
