layering kicks is so early 2000s and you are right. to make it sound good you have to tweak the crap out of it. otherwise you get phasing issues

for brazilian funk i recommend listening to DJ Ramemes' album Fuguetagem. The songs have a decent amount of density while staying solely within the style (although honestly as a non-brazilian it makes me think of Drum & Bass a lot bc the tempos he uses are so fast)
