@mattk8810 yes, sweetie, latex is a lot more expensive than memory foam, especially in its manufacturing process. If you watched the video, you would understand why.
I’m from Sri lanka. We are the major latex mattress exporters to Europe and UK. Our natural rubber tress will provide you a super comfortable sleep. 👍🏻
I'll admit it is quite firm which takes a little getting used to when you've slept on soft squishy mattresses for so long. I did buy a 3 inch topper to soften it up a degree now I'm quite comfortable@@Dres77
I found "the one" for me. So no longer on my mattress journey (It is full latex). But I still love watching you guys. Will definitely point anyone your way if I know they're in market.
Would you mind share which one you purchased? I'm looking for a 100% natural latex myself. I was looking at the brand "Latex for Less," but the company seems questionable.
I thought latex would be the solution but it slept just as hot as foam. I tried multiple times to do it and it's the exact same in my experience. I do not sleep "hot" btw... I feel that is a new concept everyone talks about now because almost every single mattress you buy now (last 10 years it seems) is just loaded with foam or latex. I spent the last 3 years just testing different ones. It has dramatically altered my health not sleeping good because of MATTRESSES. I should never have thrown out my old but perfectly fine mattress that I slept like a baby on. It has been a very hard road trying to find even one mattress that didn't cook me in these times. I finally landed on pure natural fibers with springs. Wool.
Great review! Slept on a latex core mattress for many years and enjoyed it. There’s a couple of other nuances as well. Latex is very heavy…my mattress was extremely difficult to move. It’s also buoyant, more of a bouncy feel. It has a smell (if it’s not produced properly) otherwise it smells floral which is nice. It’s an incredible material and should be considered when designing a mattress!
I should have hopped on YT before even starting the journey of finding a new bed. I had no idea how awful the experience would be in this world of foams and latex in everything now. These guys probably have solved some of the massive problems I came up against. Such a bummer. I lost so much sleep over years of trying to find a real bed again. I'm an excellent sleeper. The beds all just cooked me. I ended up sleeping on the floor or couch many nights, even blow up mattresses. Do your research everyone. Maybe these guys have solved the over-heating of latex problem that I found, even in super expensive brands. Not getting good sleep is a nightmare that is not necessary due to materials in beds. I finally bought a wool bed with springs. I wish i had just kept my old but perfectly fine mattress. How do you solve the latex heating issue? I bought hybrid mattresses and pure latex... cooked me just the same as foam. I tried for a full year with those thinking it would the solution.
While I am not the defender of companies, latex gives a very specific feel. I tried out two companies that weren’t mainstream and definitely gave those options a try. They last longer, that’s such a great appeal. But it very much has an on top of feel. I went for the Memory Foam Hybrid, because it met the needs of my dancer bodies.
Does latex have the density and compression ratings that foam has? If not, can you give us the comparable density and ILD of latex? That would be helpful. Thanks
It’s like everything else nowadays - business interests are first (profits, legal protection). Care for the customers is treating them nice during the sale, no long-term commitments.
Latex is cool and responsive sure, but the bounce kinda makes you feel it’s “resisting” your snuggle. It’s great for an afternoon nap, but not so when you want that really deep night’s slumber. If I am to choose, I prefer Latex with some complex foams and other materials. Sophisticated materials work great together to balance each others’ shortcomings.
@@definitionXrp is it solid block or shredded? I have a Latex contour pillow it’s great for an Afternoon nap. Still prefer microfiber polyester pillows.
I was told its hard to get so thats why its so expensive. Isn’t it more comfortable for big people like the average overweight American? I’m dumping my western bed next week and replacing it with a 3 inch cotton and wool shikibuton. I’m tired of not sleeping well and have always slept better on the floor, camping etc. Thanks for the video.
My current mattress is a queen size piece of latex foam 6" thick. It was purchased in 1979 and has been used ever since. I have even moved it along with the bed to a new town. I will keep using it until I can find a mattress just as comfortable and reasonably long lasting. I am only considering replacing it after 45 years as the edges are aging on it, otherwise it is just fine.
they'll generally all sag, it's rare but you can find mattresses with a zipper cover so you can replace the sagging top layer(s). it's rare for the springs to ever be the problem.
I'm in the new market for a 100% Latex mattress, I'm currently looking at the Posh and Lavish brand. Do you guys have any insight on the brand? Definitely on the pricer side.
Hey! Yes, we are familiar with Posh & Lavish. Have you had a chance to try out their mattresses? If so, was there one in particular that you liked? We would love to help you out!
@@sdmattressmakers I actually just purchased the all latex reveal model but it won't be delivered for a month so I might cancel the order lol, just not so sure spending so much when there isn't much online about them. But it was comfortable.
Hi Angela thanks for watching. I'm curious on the type of latex or mattress you tried that you had the heat issue? In our experience, latex does a great job at dissipating heat because of the breathability. There may have been some other factors which was causing heat issues.
I have 100% latex and live in Florida, I have found latex to be the coolest sleeping experience. Memory foam the hottest and all others are in between those 2 extremes. I’ve slept on mainstream latex mattress and found it slept like regular mattresses temperature wise, because it was latex with other layers. The pure latex (can see holes punched all the way through) sleeps very cool.
I would also like to know the answer to this as I'm a hot side sleeper too. My foam mattress gets wayyyy too hot in the summer/spring months in Australia and my air con has just broken down right before it's about to get hot again. Would like to know if 100% natural latex is that much cooler to foam or would I be better off getting a hybrid (latex/foam/inner spring) mattress or just go back to an inner spring one. No idea what to do...
Thanks Edward, that is a video we need to do. We’ll let you know through here when we do it! The most important thing is , do the materials breathe. The “cooling” materials are more gimmicks. We have found using breathable materials are the most important aspect in keeping you cool. That’s why we use wool and cotton in most of our mattresses. Not polyester
@@sdmattressmakers Would 80% Cotton and 20% Polyester inhibit breathability all that much ? Literally was just about to buy a Cotton/Polyester mattress protector for my new Latex mattress (which I haven't bought yet lol).
PAblo Im 5' 8" 225 Big in Belly section. Kinda your stature but big belly lol.. Sidesleeper . Your right on limited on feel But i want a Latex for me cause it does last longer. i dont like my sons Temperpedic adapt feels like board to me. Im N.California and not stores to find or try Latex mattress Soft ? but supportive..Do you have recommendation even your Mattresses i can atleast look at? TYna Keep your channel going Not enough info out there..
I bought a latex pillow and it just stinks can’t stand the smell and it is all natural wasn’t cheap either. Stick with the memory foam as I am sure they add other chemicals to the latex as it couldn’t smell like that been natural
I live in south east Asia the smell is natural…because rubber is a naturally stinky material 🤢🤢🤢 it is already lighter smell than untreated rubber, I think the smell is still there because they packaged the mattress right away after producing it, so the smell trapped inside by the plastic covers..… untreated rubber smells worst…. like decaying plants & cow poop, I smell it every morning on the way to work because the truck that carries the untreated rubber from the plantation passes by the highway & the smells linger for a few hours 😂😂
Same reason why they patch you up/give you pills.... to come/buy again 😁 Natural latex is ... cheap, problem is that foam is super expensive... for no reason. Always latex 👍
The "Biggest Reason" for NOT using Latex Foam that you guys NEVER even addressed is Latex Allergies! This should have been #1 Reason to NOT use Latex. I myself am VERY Allergic to Latex! I am talking raised red welts, Itching, and the worst being blistering of the skin! No joke! There seem to be quite ALOT of consumers who also have Latex Allergies! It might be a good idea for you to Add that to your List! T
I just purchased one and I have experienced absolutely no smells whatsoever right out of the box first night - smelled nothing. Sorry you have had a bad experience.
I have a Saatva latex hybrid mattress and found them to be wanting in firmness. After sleeping on what is supposed to be 100% latex layer is that it becomes lumpy after 3-5 months. The company sent me a brand new mattress and I am still dissatisfied. I did not find it to sleep any cooler either. Won’t ever purchase latex again.
Oh, I am so sorry to hear that was your experience with latex! Even though we love latex, it isn't for everyone but I hope you were able to find a different mattress that worked for you!
