Thanks so much for this idea, I was about to buy an expensive porcelain palette and I didn’t really need the wells since I squeeze my paints in those little plastic pans so I can move them around. Your idea is perfect for me, I can arrange only the colors I’ll be using any given time around the edges and have all that lovely flat area in the middle to mix them. 😊

To mimic the porcelain on plastic. Although it may stain your plastic. Scufff it up with some super fine grit paper and when ever the paint goes on it it will spread similar to porcelain.

I have a set of Corelle dishware that’s white. I have a couple of metal palettes that hold pans of paint, but sometimes I just need a bit of paint that’s not in a pan and those plates (saucers, actually) are fabulous for mixing like you said.

The porcelain palette is great, I think. There are little 6" aluminum ones with just three compartments that are great for traveling, or saving a color palette used for your last painting. And i save my paint from each project in case I want it again.

I got a porcelain snack tray from the charity shop for £1 which isa perfect palette. Whilst l was there l picked up some old towels which l use to cover my table when painting. That way you can protect your work surface and wipe your brushes at the same time! Win win 😊

I use those little porcelain relish and olive trays. They are about 12 inches long and 4 inches wide and divided into 3 sections. Got 4 of them for $20 and they work great.

Hi! Loved your porcelain palette. I use an old porcelain butchers tray (metal). It's white with black trim with a small lip around it. It is about 9 x 11 which I received as a gift from my best friend. It's been used and the watercolor takes to it very well. No separation problems! When I need to replace this one, or when I want a second porcelain palette I will try to order the one you use! Thanks for the update!

I have heard about butcher tray palettes wayy too many times to count but I have a question: Do you think that you will be able to stick some half pans onto it's surface?

Live in a house (105 years old) know we have items from 1887 to 2023 but no white “ceramic” plate but found one that will work!

Great video to show the differences. It's the first time I've watched your a video from your channel. I've just looked at yiur channel content and it looks fantastic for a nubee like me. Subscribed! I have a couple of plastic and porcelain palettes and I do prefer the porcelain ones. The only downside of the craftstore palettes is the mixing space is often too small if you need to mix a large amount of paint. I guess it comes down to personal choice. Second-hand or charity stores often have a selection of ceramic dishes and plates etc. Cheap and cheerful and does the job.

Go to lowes or home depot and get a nice white porcelain floor tile. Make sure to get one close to the size you need because you will have a time trying to cut it

Really very informative video, just one more question, can we use porcelain pallet for acrylic colour also?

I just happen to buy this one but I noticed it is not a bright (snow) white. Does that hinder one’s ability to arrive at the correct color as it is not as white as the paper. I have also tried palettes from Meeden and Steven Qulller…they are all off white

I do porcelain but is it porcelain sealed glaze or is it just fired with the natural shine. Because when I watch your video it looks like they have a glossy finish
