Spot on with the police. I had an accident last year called the cops they said they're not coming as long as nobody died. Called them 3 times they said they would not come
And no one talks about this enough!!! Certainly not other real estate agents who tend to try and paint a rainbow picture. I'm sorry this happened to you. That's wild. what area/zip code/part of town did this occur in, if you don't mind me asking?
@@LivingTucsonArizona it happened south Tucson 🙂 thank you so much for your videos it really made me feel better about moving to Tucson the first time I planned to move here
You may already know this, but for others who may be reading this, the Tucson police are understaffed because of the relentless demonization of them by the media and left wing extremist who called for "defunding the police" (the violent summer of 2020). Tucson didn't even have to defund (I'm not sure if they did or not), but the cops I spoke to said no one wants a job that suddenly now has such low esteem associated with it.
This is true, cops will not go to a car accident, unless a person is critically injured or there is a death. Most places are like this too, if people get a dent or minor damage, both insurance companies will do the negotiations. Can you begin to imagine if cops answered every non-fatal or minor accident call ? There wouldn't be enough officers to cover all of the other real emergencies of every other genres ! People just need to focus, be kind to others by driving defensively, watch the speed limits, stay off your cell phones, don't drink and drive. Use your brain, stay off drugs, remembering that tomorrow is never promised. Don't rush around allow extra time.
I have lived in Three Points for 21 years. I am all over town daily / doing Uber.. I know this town very well. I am deeply in Love with it here! The one thing I wish Tucson would repair is the potholes. Some of these will destroy a vehicle. I have picked up a few rider who had to have their car towed to the repair shop after going thru one and losing a tire, rim and other parts.. We do have many homeless people, even more lately. Its a sad reality here...
Thank you for this comment, I agree, it is a sad reality about the number of homeless there are in Tucson. Those potholes are crazy!! Definitely not a spot to have the thin-rim tires (im sure they have an actual name for it.. clearly i'm not a car person lol)
I was born and grew up there. It was a wonderful place to grow up. Now.....we all know what the cause of the "Scariest Problems" are. And homeless have a chance of surviving the winter there.
So, there are plenty of police officers here, but they're constantly put on patrols of specific sectors of town and are being given traffic stop quotas in order to assuage the public into thinking there are fewer issues on the road. This is to the point where they're almost never sent out for anything that isn't absolutely newsworthy, and i do mean newsworthy. Most of the major shootings on campus and in gated communities have come after weeks of prior knowledge. All of this aside, the major issues here are all environmental factors on health because Tucson is definitely one of the least habitable yet still properly inhabited zones in the US. For reference, most of Tucson is a 13-D growing zone for crops, meaning it's pretty much a few marks from being one of the most wasteful places in the US to grow produce.
Thank you for your service! A lot of my family was in the Air Force. Snapple fact: Arizona ranked 3rd in the Economic Performance category of the prestigious Rich States, Poor States report for 2023 by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). I live in Florida, have friends that are teachers; the pay here is garbage for teachers. It ranks 50th. Do not believe the hype.
I kived in Tucson 7 years ago. Then i went to Alaska for a few years. I just came back not even 2 months ago, i got jumped by a group of teens, everyday people steal from the gas station and recently a dude broke the glass in the door entrance and stole a bunch of tobacco, saying he had a gun. Idk man, it wasn't this bad 7 years ago i swear. And the police?? OMG... I'm not even gonna start. All i can say is they are one of the WORST, possibly the worst, police force I've ever come across. Everything was better when i was younger. There weren't as many homeless, illegals, snobby teens, etc. I have way more respect for Anchorage now, holy cow. And I'm usually a pretty happy person and optimistic about most things, but this is just undeniably bad
Oh my gosh!! I am SO sorry you had that experience!!! Are you okay??? What gas station (cross streets) were you at where you were jumped?? And what time of day was it?
@@LivingTucsonArizona I work at the circle k on park and 22nd st pretty. I work the night shifts. Yeah, he's just a misguided person, I can tell he's not evil at heart, just lost in life. Not an excuse for what he did, but thing to understand people is what I do best cause I was homeless in -20 degree weather at one point. Stuff like that and meeting people in similar situations helps understand why people do what they do sometimes. Sometimes it's out of spite of the world, or simply bad upbringing.
I moved away to NE TN 8 years ago and went back to visit my Mom last summer - It's gotten worse and for the week I was there I'm talking about congestion of traffic, rudeness of people - I think it's turned into one big Ghetto and I noticed multiple motorcycle accidents - Maybe the bad part of California swept all over it
I feel you on the police angle. From Tucson becoming world famous for being a predator haven because the police do their best to ignore them, to nearly being T-Boned by someone driving a Sheriff's vehicle with their lights off at 4am to the time I had to do a food delivery to some officers less than 30 ft away from an active hostage situation where I could see weaponry, I've certainly seen many shortcomings of common sense with them.
I thought the number 1 scariest thing you would say for not moving to the MOTHER LAND would be the temperature or possible lack of future water supply because none of that other stuff even matters if you have NO WATER because the DRY HEAT dried it all up ! Go.Blue.Devils 🎼 JoJo left his heart in Tucson Arizona 🎶
GREAT points! 70% of the water used in AZ is actually used for AGRICULTURE. Kinda crazy right? It was news to me when I learned that. so my opinionnnnnnn is that before people die of thirst, they will move agriculture to another state, therefore giving 70% of the water back to the people. with that said, I am not a professional in that field, nor do i ever pretend to be. i know water does scare a lot of people (or rather, lack thereof), so, great point! what would be your number 2 scariest thing? im curious

I live in Destin Florida and I've read the bill stopping and no where does it not allow the word gay what it does stop activist teachers promoting any sexual lifestyles to small children thus allowing children to learn normal things and play free from someone shoving any sexuality on them
@@jonathanv3855 What water company do you have? Metro Water does not have these issues. Been living in Tucson for 35 years and with the exception of a couple of the early years when we started getting CAP water that did a lot of damage to appliances and water lines, there have been no problems at all as far as I know...
I drove by in Tucson and let me make you know that this city is crazy. I had a guy keep checking out the garbage every minute at a Circle K. This was north Tucson. lol
Yes, I see the 4th one very well. I am a courier for NW Hospital system, so I drive a route (that's already scary enough! 😳). I feel like Arizona has the worst drivers in the country (and I grew up in California, so that's saying something). Doesn't surprise me that cops don't respond because I rarely see them anywhere! I witness on the daily that a large portion don't obey traffic laws. It's so frustrating, and I feel like nobody has integrity, so I fear every day and feel helpless to do anything about it 😕 Thanks for the informative video.
I AGREE. people drive as if street lights are a mere suggestion!! Thank you for your service to this city, Jonathan!! Be careful about saying you're from Cali. Some people get offended LOLLL, joking joking.
I lived in Tucson for 8 years and I ride... you are correct about all your points, i've had 2 friends killed in those years and more maimed. It is not only the elderly drivers but the college kids texting ect. and not to mention the illegals with no insurance.... If it wasn't for the U of A and the military there would not be a Tucson. The Police are horrible and the Mayor is a woke Communist. I went back to visit a couple times and it has become dirtier and more homeless along 4th Ave. Never again.
Thanks for your comment! A lot of homeless on 4th and near the highway. agreed. Distracted driving is definitely a big factor too. In my personal experience, it hasn't been the reason for any of my/my wife's close calls. It's been due to elderly. Undocumented w/ no insurance doesn't really play a factor when it comes to vehicular deaths. Aside from UofA and DAvis Monthan AFB, there's the airport, Raytheon, Caterpillar, Amazon. I think there would still be a strong economic presence in Tucson and will continue to be.
Drivers here are off their freaking meds. I had to drive Uber for a bit last year and I was scared to be on our roads so much. You have to be a very defensive driver in this town. Everything you said about that is on point. I always check both ways at the intersection after my red light to be sure someone isn’t zooming through it. I’m frequently thankful I do.
I'm so glad you check both ways. It can be scary driving in Tucson! Being a defensive driver, like you said, is so so important. Waiting at least 2 seconds after the light turns green can save your life, and i'm glad you're doing that
@@LivingTucsonArizona Defensive driving 100%! That was part of the reason I quit, but it was a transition period while I was leaving the restaurant industry to become a massage therapist ☺️ Stay safe! Im glad your wife quit riding! Smart choice.
Answer 1. I have $$$, 2. No children in school. If you do send to private schools. Public schools suck all over the country, 3. Motorcycles riders without helmets, it is their choice. Not your problem., 4. Stay out of the hood...Pretty weak reasons....You just described all big cities....
Hey Major, I grew up before Silicon Valley was Silicon Valley. In the Army, I lived in Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Virginia, and Florida. California has lane splitting also. They run red lights all the time here in Monterey. Also, people change lanes without looking. Been to Tucson and it is no worse than other parts of the country. My best friend was at Davis Monthan for Customs for several years. BTW which agency did you work for? After I retired from the Army I spent 4 years with CBP before going to work for the Navy in Monterey.
I was a Special Agent for the Air Force Office of Special Investigations for a decade. I've lived in several states too, I'm glad your experience when you were in Tucson was different! Thanks for your service! Monterey is so beautiful.
@@LivingTucsonArizona it was at Ft. Lowell and 1st Ave about a week ago, guy was crossing the street and a motorcycle just slammed right into him and he spun and was on the ground, the bike just took off! Called in the accident but never heard what happened after, he wasn't covered when they put him in the ambulance so hopefully he made it! 🙏🏻
@@flateiacantis7510 oh i super hope so. wow wow. thanks so much for sharing. That is so so scary!!!! No matter how safe someone is, they can't control others around them.
You have to be kidding, no helmet law? Even without a helmet law I would always wear a helmet. I would always assume other drivers do not see me on a motorcycle or bicycle. It is your life. It is not just older people, it is texting, and driving while on the cell phone that are really dangerous. How far is it from Tucson to the wild west 100, 50, 20, 5 or just out of town? It is not that far to OK Corral? I do not believe Tucson and Arizona is that crazy or lawless. However, keep you hand gun handy.
I have a completely different experience here and can’t relate to anything you said. While I’m positive there is truth in some of what you’re saying, I do think the neighborhood one lives in makes a world of difference.
I been here 12 years and Tucson is better than Milwaukee where I grew up at but you're right about poverty and the police 🚓🚓🚨🚨 and how folks drive down here a driver killed a motorcycle 🏍️ driver right by my job

Tucson used to be a great place in the 80's , Don't know where you came from. But if you are hugging someone carrying an AK, you might need to find friendlier accomadations!
The motorcycle stat probably only matters to roughly 5% of viewers, to be frank. Doesn't seem it belongs on a top-4 list. PS, check out Family Guy's raking of Tuscon.
Tucson schools have a large diversity in achievement. Some schools do not have a single student who speaks English or is from the United States. Those schools perform poorly while other schools have white native populations and their schools all have A+ ratings and are some of the top in the nation. So...schools in Tucson can be as good or bad as you choose.
Florida schools have been great and love the education I got there so many magnets and IB schools and lots of schools with Stellar sport programs all at the public school level - the ranks from the magnet schools improved overall count imo and most high schools have magnet programs now and the college opportunities and acceptance are high based on the extra curricular combo to magnets
AZ also won't take driver's license away from dementia pashents which is why u see so many people driving on the wrong side of the road 😂 at least in pima county especially in green valley
I'm from Sd...believe me this story is laughable but shes entitled to her opinion. She should leave if it's so bad and being a realtor I think shes telling a biased story for sure...just like nasty shitty, sunny southeast, even chula wanna the south part is not the safest area.

It definitely can be. On a study done by the FBI on violent crimes, Tucson ranks higher than cities such as San Diego and Portland, but less dangerous than Albuquerque
I love Tucson, but I have an ancesterial bias. One weeks pay for one months stay! We have a baseline for wages but not accommodation. This makes no sense and simply doesn't work. The average lowest rent in 2022, ranged from $1,200 to $1,500 per month in many places. The monthly income, based on the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour for a full-time job of 40 hours per week,,amounts to around $1,256.96 per month before taxes. HUD's Definition of Affordable Housing: The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) defines housing as affordable if a household pays no more than 30% of its income on housing costs, including rent or mortgage, utilities, and insurance. This cannot be done in todays rental market. We need to mandate that all new multifamily complexes include a percentage of baseline units (300 Sq Ft) that can ONLY rent for 40 hours net pay at minimum wage. Eligibility of these units would be capped. When the persons income exceeds +X% (determined by local authority) of minimum wage they are expected to move on to a market rate unit. This will eliminate the need to subsidize market rate units and create a viable option for those on fixed incomes as well.
@@LivingTucsonArizona don't talk about sex with children seems reasonable . It's about not talking about sexual orientation until kids are in 5th grade. Seems pretty logical to me. The fact people want to talk to 9 year olds about that stuff is weird.

The facts were straight! Tucson is one of the best of the state. AZ is 45th in the country. I don't sugarcoat or embellish bc I hate when real estate agents did that to me to pressure me to buy. I say it as it is. thank you for engaging!
