I have read some sci-fi novels such as 1984, Brave New World, the first book in the Foundation series, 2001, and Slaughterhouse Five (if one considers it a sci-fi novel rather than a work of postmodern literature), but I generally do not care for sci-fi. I think it is due to the novels aging poorly in that they get some things right about the future, but mostly one sees ideas that seem silly today (one does not see sci-fi "classics" predicting i-Phones, the dumbing down of society through the internet, etc.). I prefer classic literature, but I will keep watching this channel due to the pretty lady.
I have yet to read the Foundation series; need to remedy that. Sigh...I also have a whole wall of classic literature, half of which is read. I have thought about planning to dive into classics more next year with some sort of reading project :)
