Padel is a fun sport that combines the best elements of tennis, squash and sea racket. It is aimed at all ages, it is fast, explosive and dynamic, it combines action with fun. It is played by two opposing teams of two players each in " fenced-in area and about half the size of a tennis court.
How is Padel played?
Padel is played with four people (2 vs. 2) on a closed court surrounded by glass walls, the dimensions of which are about 75% of a tennis court (10 meters wide by 20 meters long).
Rackets (also known as Padel Bat) are made of synthetic material and their surface is covered with small holes. During the match, players may use the back/side glass walls for their kicks while the ball is allowed to bounce first on the ground and then on the walls with play continuing as normal.
In essence the walls are the 3rd player of each team and an integral part of the strategy followed, which makes Padel particularly exciting.
A point is earned when:
The ball bounces twice in the opponent's court
The opponent hits the ball directly on the glass, in which case it is considered out
The opponent fails to pass the ball into the opposite field (e.g. impact in the net)
The score is measured exactly like in tennis (points, games, sets) and the balls used are similar but with less pressure.
