It took me about 5 hours or better to paint this little area of trees in this painting. So if any of you are frustrated with trees, just know it takes me a long time too! Hope this helped
Hi Chuck love your tutorials, could you tell us what color you use also please? I have trouble getting the right c olors and then all its different tones. Thanks again for your time and experience.
Chuck Black Art was just about to aak when u were going to do an outdoor video! Lol U answered at the very end.. Looking forward to it!! Have u ever considered doing a live show? That would really be fun, especially an outdoor one.. Or just an open chat would be cool too! 😊🖤
I've been painting off and on for 6 years. I learn more from this guy than from any other source. With all of bad shit in the world, internet etc... it's humbling to know unselfish people like this artist are out there..... looking for nothing but for you to try. Well done sir!
Got to say I'm trying your how to paint a landscape 4 part video and yeah it's taking me some time using this type of method but it works better for me . I like to take my time . Yeah you have your simple methods to try and portray realism with next to no effort but you can't beat actual good old time taking. Which is what you do . Thank you man you got me painting again after about 15 years not painting!
Many thanks Chuck for sharing your ideas and talent with us. You are an inspiration and your tutorials are very thorough. I particularly like the way you take time and effort to describe exactly what you are doing at each step. Thank you so much, I have been painting on and off for almost 50 years (I'm 75) and I have learned more from you than from any other source in my painting life. Thank you.
I absolutely loved your demo especially because you showed the times you had to re-do parts. Being new to painting I always get so frustrated with myself when I realize I failed to consider the light or the background etc. It was so refreshing to see a talented artist like you have to go back and fix things. That alone made the video great but your tips are also invaluable. Thanks.
You are a great painter. So beginners like me can hardly cope up but thank you for the ideas. You are an inspiration sir. Your patience, passion and perseverance is worth emulating. God bless
A great informative video, Chuck. It may seem unnecessary to put in the time it took you to do the work in the video but I think it does help those of us who are trying to figure out just exactly how we are doing on our own quest to become artists.
I have been watching painting videos for awhile, your the first that I have watched that actually leaves in your “mistakes”, and changes in your thought process. Gives me hope❤️
This helped me so much... I love trees and want to paint something like this..one day. YES I am very interested in the tree bark.... I am interested in all the videos about this painting. Thanks so very much for teaching us your beautiful techniques. I love your paintings.
I love it! That painting feel like a little piece of heaven. I imagine that's what it looks like - calm, peaceful, harmonious. Nothing like nature to soothe the soul. Thank you!
all the highlights your adding to the trees makes me think what I see as we are driving a log in our travels. I wondered how I could accomplish this in my paintings. Thank you so much for your Tips..
Wow! You have opened up a "window" for me,Chuck. I was suffering a real mental block, and, could not work out what I was doing wrong. Thuh light ! The light, through the trees, and, the direction it is coming from! Thank you. Hmmmf back to square two. Perseverence. It's gotta be right. Absolutely love your presentation, and, the phenomenal amount of detail.
This will help me greatly another tip I need to make sure I tell myself throughout the painting process is I have to be willing to make changes! Easy concept but I always forget get mad and start a new painting . It's the perfectionist in me and I want to get it right the first time lol.
Here your new friend! You have lots of patience making these kind of 🌲 . But I don’t have that’s why was making mistakes, I learnt a lot of colors techniques from your video!!
Thank you so much for sharing these tips with us! I hope you know how much your time and talent are appreciated❤️. I will be trying trees like this now because of this video😃. If it took you 5 hrs, it will take me 15😜
I could never thank you enough for taking the time to do your videos & detailed explanations!! I plan on watching every single video you produce! You are the best artist I have ever seen!! Thank you again, you have helped this beginning painter immeasurably!!
I admire the nuances in the colors you use and imagine what a beautifull color Symphony they create and how the contrast of large shapes and tiny repeated shapes creates rhytmic layers. - in a way I see your beautifull landscape as an abstract vibration of light and colour and shapes
Thank you again for sharing your time and your tips with us. Trees are what I'm most interested in learning to paint and your video is extremely helpful. Now if I can just remember your tips next time I'm painting trees. :-)
Gayle, I applaud you, I am an amateur painter who has always used solely oils, even for blocking my background. Your idea of using acrylic for this is new to me. Please tell me at which point in a painting do you switch to oil. When the background, even though, very sketchy, is dry?
Thank you for showing a good impresion of a real tree and its characteristics. I am trying to paint a covered bridge with fall colors around it. I thought that I had ruin the full affect that I wanted to show; but now I know what I have to try to do to corrct the effect I was aiming for.
I learned so h from this video !! Tysm for your sharing your skills . Trees will not intimidate me anymore . It was the sky showing through that helped the most . And I love this picture too .
I can see behind your paints... your soul are so contemplative and earth-nature lover... Thanks for all your creation and for your tips...I am a graphic designer/illustrator but I want back to the acrylics paint and improve there...with your advices I can do it better... Blessings from me... Keep going....
I LOVE WATCHING YOU PAINT! You are such an amazing artist and teacher! Thank you so much for all your help!! I would love to see you do some paintings on the swamps of Louisiana with all the cypress knees and moss on the trees and Lilly pads in the water.
Great painting and great video. I learned so many different methods and ideas from this video. I think I'll have to watch it many times to learn all of them. Thank you very much. I am in the middle of putting in trees on a painting that I am doing and now, and can try out what I learned!!
You have the most amazing energy and talent! Your videos are always so informative and a pleasure to watch and learn. Thank you for that gift. Can't wait to see your trip video! Absolutely loved the others.
Before you did (and explained) the part where you made the background leaf colors show through the foreground trees, I was thinking something like "He's GOTto do that. I hope he does that !" So, thank you for doing that bit of detail. I learned so much from this video about how to paint trees. Now, I'm wanting to do a painting which shows a forests dirt road or pathway that is lined with Maple and/or Oak trees, with a sort of sunset in the background. Am wanting it to have the pathway / road off to the left, kind of winding into the background, with the sunset - colored sky behind the remainder of the forest being to the right side. Hope I can get the shadows and highlights correct (for the whole shebang) with the way I'm wanting to make this painting. TYSM for sharing this video with us. I really enjoy watching your videos and I always learn things from them. 👍😉😀
so lovely and I love the detail...the light(sky) peaking through the trees is sheer perfection(or close as we can get to it!)..I am inspired to pick up my paint brushes and do some landscapes...a bit tired of all the florals I have done for 20 years...TY for sharing and teaching...GBY!!! BTW...how can anyone give a thumbs down to such talent&effort?! It's just mean&petty...just trolls being immature&hateful (totally moronic but mostly just shameful on their part!).
Awesome tutorial and I love that you left a comment on how long it took. It's easy to imagine this painting really going this fast but perfection takes time.
can u do a video explaining perspective and getting proportions correct? I'd love to practice my painting but I always get stuck in the drawing part cuz I don't seem to get these right.
Yeah I'll try to cover something like that in the near future. It's something that's been on my mind as well. Thanks for letting me know and I'll do my best to develop something good
Incredible detail!..... Beautiful scenery as well.... Perfect painting 4 this time of year here in Pennsylvania, when the leaves are just starting to fall, and the bucks are going into rut!...... Well done friend.... I'm a beginner practicing landscapes... Bob Ross style..... Thanks 4 the inspiration.
who knew ??? I am soooo in to trees but as a senior self taught I do the thing all beginners do - TOO MUCH paint and then I lose the lighting - wow - BEST tip I have heard in 4 years - paint the light skies openings AFTER you paint the leaves simply can't wait to try this
