Can Nick do a product review for the 40th Anniversary Yamaha Steve Gadd Signature snare drum?

Wow Nick,the second you started this video I said to my self,that's Steve Gadd,other than Bonzo he is the only recognizable drummer you can tell just by listening, and yes the black sticks gave it away some lol,great video, there is always something I take from them,Thanks,hope your band is doing well 😅

This is SO helpful. I have watched a ton of drummers try to explain and demo Gadd licks and you are a breath of fresh air. I have to say it even Steve himself is a bit hard to follow. The deconstruction into phrases is mind blowingly simple and really exposes Steve's creativity for all to see and be inspiwere by in terms of flow. .Practice and execution is another story altogether, (😳) but hey, now I have a road map I can follow. I am beyond grateful, you have no idea how much your approach helps! ~TEU~

The 1st groove is so cool yet not complex or showy but so so chill and can fit into so many situations

That was a great lesson thanks for breaking those down. Those Steve Gadd sticks from Vic Firth are my favorites when I'm not playing clear-finish 7A's.

beautiful Nick...UDaMan. got me back to 50 ways to dial it more with the kick subtlety, and interesting the double stroke for me on my RH ( a lefty) little lazy also. And definitely take on late in evening instead using 4 sticks. thankx for the inspiration 👌

I was waiting for it, and yes, you picked up the extra sticks. I love all of his grooves. There's a video on RU-vid with him playing with Sammy Davis Jr.

They look like the Steve Gadd signature model, so they'll be hickory.

Bought a Tama Speed Cobra 310 double pedal. Both springs are terribly noisy, sqeaky. Recommendations to fix?
@EvilSewnit
@EvilSewnit 3 года назад
Maybe they need a tiny bit of oil or lube? That fixed my pearl pedal when it was squeaking
@isihernandez9752

If you're sure it's really the springs, and not any other moving part, a bit of felt or foam inside them could solve it. If it doesn't, you can always replace the springs for another of your like. It's not so expensive and it could improve the feel. Otherwise, you'll have to identify the moving part making the noise, and lub it. After a few years, my Speed Cobra 910 started making noise as well, and it was actually the springs. I made the felt thing and it worked nicely (foam could also work, but think it would start to fall apart very soon). But I don't know if there's much of a difference between the 910 and the 310 concerning the springs, structure, moving parts, etc.
@St_Mindless
@St_Mindless 3 года назад
@@isihernandez9752 there's quite a few differences with the 310 and 910. 310 is a lot more basic. No cobra coil, no quick release spring, basic beater. I'm certain it's my springs making the noise

Great drumming as always Nick, but on 50 ways he plays the hi hat with the foot on the first downbeat on the kick.
@johnjuan6698

I noticed it too...first hihat beat should be the left foot 'chick'...

Every video about these grooves is different... nobody seem to actually know how to do what Steve did...( Seeing it written would have made things much more clear. especially the fast parts. But thanks for giving somewhere to start.. !!!

The Mozambique groove is not quite correct. The right hand is correct but the left hand fills in more. He hits one "1" with the left hand.

I'm pretty sure he plays a stutter on 4 in the first measure, not hand to hand. So it would be RR L R L.

Mmm... sorry but none of those are quite right. Gadd is a monster. Saw him play a livestream benefit for the Baked Potato here in LA last week. The man is 80 years old still plays his ASS off!
