Randy Bowen and his studio are amazing at energetic statues. They look like they are photographs of a moment. His personal sculpts and his team make high end stuff. As like yourself too rich for my blood, but not unimpressive.
I have a "Needful Things" Rancor resin model kit that was produced in the mid 90's that is very rare .It is about 12" tall and comes with a terrain base.I was told less than 100 where made.
I'd love to own the Regal Robot version. But at $5000+ Canadian funds, it would be impossible. So I'm very glad it sold out within a day lol. I did really, really want to get the Sideshow Rancor DELUXE, and I would have reluctantly paid the $2000 Canadian price (with shipping, taxes etc) for that one that would be very close to 6th scale, so I could display it with the newest Jabba the Hutt and the Hot Toys from Return of the Jedi. But I don't think my current waitlist position will get me one, so I'm going to have to settle for the smaller, Sideshow "regular" Rancor that's shipping this fall of 2021. Great video BTW. I enjoy them all. We have very similar tastes and ideas.
Those are cool but I don't know if worth the money. I don't have any for sure. Funny you said you had pause at $1300... I'm looking at that WFC Unicron and that is the price tag on it LOL
I kinda wish Hasbro would make a 1/12th scale Rancor, but I get why they haven't, that's a lot of time and energy they'd have to spend on something that's pretty much guaranteed to fail. If you've been paying attention to the current fallacies going on with stores, distribution has been a major issue for a while now. Even with the success of that first Jabba, there were still so many left in clearance or got discounted marketable lower. So if they ever did make a Rancor, people would likely just wait until they hit the clearance shelves before buying them. Contemplating getting that smaller Sideshow Rancor as a sort of stand-in, in all likelihood, that's probably going to be the closest thing we'll ever get to a 1/12 Rancor. I'm mean, it's close enough in size.
You’d think maybe Haslab would be able to do it using crowdfunding. But yes I think the smaller Sideshow statue would be a good (if expensive) stand-in
@@MightyJabbasCollection in this collecting business, I’m already kinda used to the outrageous prices of figures... like, have you seen all the SH Figuarts figures? Gonna need to sell my house if I wanna get all those.
Personally the regal robot one looks off to me, it looks more like the puppet after years of being in a warehouse, which it was. The pure white eyes and deteriorated looking head is definitely not how I remember it from Return of the Jedi, if that body had the sideshow head I think it would’ve looked perfect.
You have to keep in mind that we never really saw the rancor in normal lighting. The eyes on the puppet were apparently just metal ball bearings, which is why they are silver on the Regal Robot piece.
I own the Sideshow deluxe. It's an amazing statue & very well engineered for it's size. Pictues do not do it justice. Only downside... it doesn't come with chain links on the wrist cuff or the trademark drool. Shame they skimped out on such small things with that big price tag.
Speaking of largest Rancor statues, there is an eccentric guy here in rural NC who makes statues out of old car parts. He has made several life sized dinosaurs, and several years ago he make a life sized Rancor. The only thing I remember about it were the mouth cheeks were made from old VW Bug trunk lids, and the claws were broken bulldozer tree grabbers . I'll try to find some pictures and send them to you on IG.
I have both regal Robot and Sideshow versions. The Regal Robot one blew me away. Thinking of getting the smaller SS version as well. Rancor is one of my favorite creatures even though only in the film for a few minutes.
The pewter statue probably didn’t sell well cause it’s such a specific scene for a price waaay to high. Idk if there’s that many die hard rancor fans so it seems like wasted effort
That might be true. Still, it’s interesting how there have been a lot more very high-end pieces for the rancor compared to Jabba. Really there aren’t any super expensive ($1000 or more) Jabba pieces
I covered the Illusive Originals Rancor in my previous video about statues. It's not my favorite since the materials they chose to use mean that most of them are starting to deteriorate, including mine
