It's actually a 6.2 liter and not a 6.3 like the badge says. It's paying homage to 6.3 engines from Mercedes in the past. The M156 engine has a lot of major issues. It sounds amazing and is a very powerful naturally aspirated engine, but it needs a lot of maintenance to keep it on the road. I had a C63 for about 5 years and it was always needing one thing or another. I did love that car, and I had some really good experiences with it. Just be aware that it's not like a Japanese or American car. Parts are expensive and they break often.
The problems with the 156 are highly overrated. I have had 2 , my current has 139K miles, completely trouble free. Just needs fuel filter module currently. Also valve cover gaskets replacement and motor mounts are a given. But those are minor.
It looks really nice. I have a 2013 CLS 63 AMG which has the 157 engine in it. I had the ECU flashed and the resonators removed. It made a big difference in the performance and exhaust system. But like yours, I do have the occasional electric gremlins come up. I drive it in manual mode which basically eliminates any turbo lag. Definitely keep it if you like it and find a reason mechanic that will work with you to keep it running.
I love the cls63s. My friend have 1 and his is godly fast.. A big difference in acceleration with the turbos. Im going to supercharge mines with downpipes and a tune and call it a day to get what im looking for out of her.
Your number 4 doesn't have nothing to do with throttle response. It's the 7g speed shift transmission. When you floor it in sports mode there is a delay in the transmission depending what gear you were in due to the transmission having to down shift. If you would to be in manual mode then you would be able to down shift to the correct gear before you press on the accelerator. Flashing your transmission would help, get a TCU tune, but the throttle response on the m156 engine is great, it's the transmission that is the let down.
Thinking of grabbing a 2012 e63 amg with 116k miles with p30 package so 550 hp. I talked him down to 15k you think that’s a good deal considering the high miles ?
I own an exact same car, and for the transmission, whenever you want to race someone, go into S+ mode, and down shift using the peddle, it won’t upshift until redline, so you can lock in gear, get the right rpm, and go. Staying in S+ mode can also get the best shifts since you can miss shifts in M mode.
I had one, i sold it, i realised i wasnt ready to own one, it was just too much for me, just the gas mileage put me off, like literally and then changing the discs and pads is another nightmare, i had to sell it, that was back in the day, now I’m ready and rolling in a 2021 BMW M5c and things have never been this awesome!!
I'll never understand people buying 400-500+hp V8s and then saying "Yeah the fuel mileage sucked" like, dude. *You didn't buy the car because you liked it's fuel economy.*
@@martofelix4526yes, if you’re ready, the gas mileage and the rear tires will let you know that you’re ready or not, you can almost not drive it reasonably, the exhaust note and the G-forces will not allow you to drive it reasonably!
It looks just like my E550 besides the 63 on the side. My E63s AMG I just did work on I’ll post it soon over all it’s a amazing car make sure you do the head bolts if it was done before you bought it. Your year 2010-2011 had head bolt issues
awesome video. W212 e63 is super fast and huge power but the high tech stuff that can fail is scary. thats why ill buy an older slower but still fast and fun w124 e500 v8 or a w210 E55 amg. older cars. still fun and less tech issues.
I'm going to save up and get one of these for college. Not going to drive it that much so gas shouldn't be an issue. Crazy how much these depreciate. Even tacking on 5-10k in maintenance would still make it worth it IMO
Did you sort the "throttle response" issue? I soo want a car with the M156 V8. I wonder what will have the longest lifetime: A) cam adjusters B) my credit rating C) my drivers licence
Hi bro, i have same car in diamond white. I will change my front grill to same like urs, but evry firm say to me i cant install couse of amg or distronic plus. Dont u have distronic? Or where did u get ur front nice cl sport grill. Looks awsome ur car even ur diffusor. Very nice 👍
Change that adjuster asap. If you let it get worse you gonna need to change the lifter buckets too, and the head bolts was said to be weak from factory I been researching this motor
She's still looking fine af for 125k miles, so here's my question: Where did you get the rear carbon fiber diffuser from. That is one thing I hate about mine 😆
Thanx brother. I bought the car like this but there are a ton of website you can get the exact diffuser from. Type in 2011 e63 amg carbon fiber diffuser and you should see some. Some sites are pricey as hell but others are decently priced.
I have the same car, and can agree on all of your points. I didn’t know about the cam rattle, I’m only at about 85k miles on it. I’ll be sure to keep an ear out for that, and thank you for the video cause I had not heard about that one. My biggest issue was my rear suspension decided to f*ck off around 80k miles. All said and done though, best car I’ve ever had. It rips
Its not if the cam rattle will happen, its when. All of these engines come with cam adjustors that takes a poop when they feel like it. What rear suspension issue did you run into?
@@2xmototv206it just totally deflated on me. Rear wheels were nearly touching the body of the car and wouldn’t rise up. Replaced the “bladders” and it’s good now. Read on a lot of forums that it tends to become an issue around 80k miles. Mine was at 81k when it happened. Previous owner didn’t drive it often, or maintain it very well. Rides smooth as ever now though Side note, what kind of oil/coolant temps do you normally see on yours? Mine runs kind of hot and I’ve had mixed opinions from other amg people Edit: also worth noting, I for sure have that cam rattle going on now. Haha
@@2xmototv206 Nice! Sad to say I missed out on that E63. It was on the lot for 5 days and I waited too long to go check it out. Still looking. Good luck with yours bro! She's a beaut!
Everyday, i also miss the foxbody mustang. Awaiting my investment to take off from selling those cars so I can build cars full time and bring you all content. The time is coming and the cars are going to get better then before.
Thank you. I bought the car with it on already. There are plenty of sites you can buy 1 from though. Type in 2011 e63 amg carbon fiber diffuser and it should come up. Some sites are very pricey and others are pretty resonable.
Well 5.5 or the 4.0 liter is better efficient but your 6.2 is a classic sledgehammer AMG is the best of all Euros 😊maybe upgrade to a 2014 or up get the 5.5 liter or you're balling get the 4.0 E63 S 4matic😊
BEAUTIFUL car. I myself drive a 2013 c63. I have 105k and no problem :). My brother has a beautiful 2018 E43. We love 'em. But best of luck to out there, enjoy and stay safe. Cheers!
Hey for #3 you can just take apart your cam adjusters and flip the pins for a quick fix. But you gonna have to buy that m156 timing tool. I my self own a 2010 e63 i spend about 3/4k Canadian a year on maintenance. 3rd owner so things pop up. Its lot but i still I really enjoy the car as I think it’s the best sounding AMG car ever made, and it puts a smile on my face when I put the pedal to the floor.
E63 Driving habits preserve parts.. Keep it up to service and don't slam into it.. Its not a Lamborghini.. Let the speed gradually increase and gears go through the motions..It has a long first gear with the one second delay.. I want to zip off like a rocket some times but hey.. It's not that kind of car you do donuts in. But on the parkway she fast as lightning
Can you send me a link for the rear carbon fiber for the exhaust? I have the exact same car and I love it. That's a piece of history. Which you cannot buy Anymore doesn't matter how much you wanna pay. That's the best engine ever created from Mercedes, most reliable and bulletproof.
The newer years are better, try goin for the 2018 or better because they are AWD with a ton of more options and less issues. These cars don't tend to have many issues at all if the maintenance is kept up. Very reliable..
LOL! It’s Benz and an old one at that. 🤦🏻♂️ You my friend are probably better off with Mopar vehicle. Mopar has the super charger game down. You could be much happier.
The thing about this world is sometimes you have to be different to be even happier.. Everyone goes for mopar for the instant power out of the box, when you seen 1 you seen them all.. Once I supercharge the benz ill be looking at close to 800hp.. I think ill be thrilled with that rather then owning a car everyone has. No offense to mopar..
Cheapoos stay cheapoos doesn’t matter if they own a Mercedes by the error of destiny. Having an AMG 6.3 litre engine and crying about gas milage, well that showed you are cheapster
