Or.... the part is on Sony and Microsofts side all these years & all these cleaning tip videos are just BS shilling for a much larger problem. Some consoles do need to be cleaned, they do get dirty, but let's address the REAL issue. SONY & Microsoft making a profit and product with cheap parts, (xbox 360 & ps3 both had an overheating issue and resulted in lawsuits, companies where then forced to actually do the right thing and replace the console without charging, but did so kicking & screaming & long after charging customers to fix them at an outrageous price for something they themselves should've covered to begin with.) The PS4 overheats & has its its own issues. From freezes, to blue screens, complete lock ups, not even able to reboot in safe mode, the internet is filled with customers tales of unhappiness. Whether the PS4 is clean or dirty though clean obviously helps, new, or old, refurbished, Base, Slim, Pro plain and simple it runs like a toaster oven. It has Poor parts placement & the lack of air circulation makes things worse. Poor optimization of the PS operating system and the PS store itself. The base model in particular where the power supply is. I would love to shake the hand of the person who thought the internal temperature of the original base ps4 at launch had to run like a toaster oven sitting at the dashboard. Not running games. Or apps, or movies. Or the store. Freezing, pausing, lagging, overheating, forcing to restart. The error codes, my god the error codes, the support page that tells you what the error code meant and what to do about it really isn't helpful, other than reboot in safe mode and rebuild your database. Customer support isn't very knowledgeable either. Absolute Sonys way of keeping the customer busy with fixes and work arounds they know won't work, while not working on anything that will fix the problem except to tell customers that already bought the console to buy another one in the form of the slim and pro or send back to them for an outrageous price, that still overheats even brand new. The games, while fun, especially first party, or hell even third party games run really hot and can't run well on the ps4, so they themselves are either poorly optimized or can't play nice with the limitations of the ps4 slim even the pro, not to mention the base model. The fan is a cheap joke & and having to buy a better one off line and install yourself after spending the money on the console is also bullshit. It's not a PC. & when charging close to what a gaming PC cost should run a hell of a lot better people, wake up demand more for your money. I've had the PSX, PS2, & PS3, loved em all and while they did have problems, especially the ps3, the network was and still is buggy as hell. PS5 is getting ready to come out, Sony makes millions of dollars and still can't get their Network right. This is coming from some one who is a lifetime sony fan, just tired of it. When consoles are charging close to a gaming pc now days, games getting more expensive, season passes, DLC, microtransactions, other BS, customers deserve more for their money, than companies just saying give us your money & we'll make a patch or a fix maybe later down the line, or we won't, we'll spend more money scrubbing the internet, reddit's and RU-vid deleting negative but completely truthful post , real issues customers are having, and give other people money to promote sony, Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, etc, pick your favorite in a positive untruthful light.
The rrod wasn't microsoft's fault and had NOTHING to do with improper cooling. Its all ATI's fault for selling defective gpus to microsoft, which caused 90% of rrod failures to happen. Even if microsoft cooled the chips better, they would still die.
I honestly NEVER had an overheating problem with PS3. I only started having this issue with PS4, and that’s only because I play so much. Don’t give a shit about Xbox at all tho
Run a dust cloth (like a dry Swiffer brand one) around the vents once a week. Point a portable fan towards it while using it. This one will help to stop (or slow) the heating of the plastic that causes those crackling/popping noises - which is the plastic expanding and contracting.
I completely got rid of the jet engine noise by putting it in the window opening n letting it suck in the artic air it really works btw depending on where ur gaming setup is mines in the living room so only took a min to rewire from window back to tv reduced the noise by 70% n I was finally able to enjoy the last of us part 2 properly hopes this helps anyone who goin wat I'm goin thru cuz the scalpers hoarding all the p5s 😭 Ps - it's the middle of winter where I'm all that's y its works so well
Ah alright thanks, my ps4’s been getting hotter than normal recently and turns out the problem was that it was in a tight drawer or whatever you’d call it so the hot air kept heating more hot air in the same space until my ps4 couldn’t handle it anymore.
Mine used to overheat and just shut off. Now, when I'm done i shut it down and unplug it and its been fine over a year. I don't use stand by, it sits on a flat surface with enough breathing room and I use a damp lysol or even wet wipe to collect dust on the outsides of it. Had mine since 2015
Reapplying the thermal paste will do wonders for it as well. The factory application is garbage and rarely lasts more than a year depending on your usage. I reapply my thermal paste every so often. Has kept my launch model and my pro working like new even all these years later.
i used artic MX-4 thermal paste and now i feel doubtful if it was the best thermal paste i could’ve used for my ps4, because it still gets a bit loud however i sit pretty close to my playstation and i may just be paranoid.
Chiming in to say that if you’re like this person and still find your PS4 sounding like a jet despite new thermal paste, it’s not just you. Long story short you need a higher grade thermal paste with high viscosity like Thermalright TFX that can sustain high temps for longer. Getting new thermal pads (1MM is the size for PS4) will also help greatly too. I personally did this and it was a game changer. Can’t recommend enough
Use a table fan or a cooler If u dont have make one at home ,but it should be powerful And then keep it close to your ps4 Problem solved I hav been using this trick for 1 year and it's still worked
So not in a cupboard, with a complete and utter mess of cables from GameCubes, switches, Ethernet switches, amps, extension cables, like mine is… (I will add that I built in cooling into the cupboard when I made it so air does get circulated from the bottom shelf across the PlayStation, sucked up into the shelf above and across the top of the amp then back out the back of the cupboard)… finding that my PS is starting to sound like a jet now
So whenever I launch the game dead by daylight, the fans go crazy and it thinks its overheating and shuts off. I had the inside cleaned out and it was pretty dusty, but it still has this problem. If I leave it on for just a few minutes, I'll have to shut it off and let it cool down before launching that game or it shuts off. It doesn't shut off for any other game. Including games with higher graphics. Is the over heating related to how much the power of the fan? Or is there something im not doing? Long question but thanks
I have a similar problem when I'm starting a custom race in Grand Tourismo. I think it's the processing behind (loading the map, mpc, enemies and something like that). Where is your game installed (HDD/SSD)?
I literally turn it on and as soon as I hear the sounds of an F16 ,I plug in my headphones and play music through out my gaming session ,problem solved for you but not for anyone near you 😂
Would you happen to know how to get a PlayStation out of safe mode? The only option that will work for me is to plug in a USB with the latest update on it, though, one of my USB ports does not work, and I do not have a laptop/PC to download the update onto a USB. So I am asking. Would you know if there is any last options I can do that would fix it. Even if it takes everything off of my PS4 (sets it back to factory settings)
Idk if you got your ps4 out of safe mode but the easy way to get it out is to turn your game off and turn it back on and hold the power button and wait for the second beep ( you will hear the first beep when you turn it on but by continuing holding the power button you will hear a second beep) after that you will be taken to the default safe mode screen where it asks for you to plug in your duel shock controller and next you should see a menu and try the first option and the last 2 options will wipe your ps4 so try those last and make sure to search up each option does so you don’t do anything that will harm your ps4
THIS TUTORIAL WORKED 100%, my ps4 is running sooooooo quiet now. I found that the heat sink and fan collected so much dust that is was black and thick around them both. once i fully cleaned it out and brushed any remaining dust away, i closed it up, fired it up and it has been quiet for over 2hrs now with no signs of heating up. @@andresgavrila9615 the loudness won't ever dissappear, if your ps4 sounds like a jet then you either need to replace the hardware or get a new Ps4. Your ps4 sounds loud be it's trying to cool itself down since its doing so much. Trust me I've tried everything
