The Hobie Trifoiler is the most stable boat ever. The forward facing sensor way out in front of the boat can anticipate a wave. Furthermore, the automatically adjusting foils keep the boat at exactly the perfect height above the water no matter how hard the gust hit. The windward foil will pull down to prevent it from flying a hull. The sensor adjusts the angle of attack dynamically at all speeds with no user adjustments.

Thanks for your answer. Now, I have another question. How would you go about having tons of new ideas regarding a build of a similar character, but literary have no money nor experience or contacts that can give me a push. It really tips me off to not be able to materialize my ideas, and my ideas are really top notch and motivated by environmental friendly, independents needs like free electricity, water and fuel. People say "start small, then expand" but with almost no money... What'd you do?

16 mph is pretty typical upwind for Moths also. Have to keep it around 14 knots or so, or at least that's how it used to be. Maybe they are heating it up more now. Not sure about the angles on a Moth; depends upon wind speed but it is more like 50-55 deg off bow. Thanks for the info; will head down with new foil system when I get the new rudder built.

@kwittnebel 32 is about it for the average wind around here in So Cal. I have other TF owners claim way more, like 45. I ask for their GPS file to view for myself, but most guys don't know how to upload that kind of data to a computer. The tacking angles are very broad at 65 degrees off the bow, minimum foil speed up wind is 16 mph. My personal highest recorded on GPS is 37 mph at Pepper Park, The boat was reefed and in total control, it was not even under stress to cruise at a deep angle.

Hi Dan. Just wanted to ask, your design, is it copyrighted? It's very useful and practical on long trips because of its speed and i want to use that because I want to create a similar boat with the same principle, just bigger in every way with every possible equipment to make living in the middle of the ocean more easy. I know about a company which aims to be as green as possible, but they have only motorboats. I just wanted to confirm whether it is okay to use it or not :)

Oh just saw the 32mph. Is that about top speed? How fast are you going upwind, and at what angles?

@yojamey Hi Jamey, Thanks for the post. I am getting anxious to launch the next generation, The Quadfoiler. It will be way faster in all conditions. Can you believe that? A 30 x 30 foot bi-plane rig for deep water racing. It will be a good match against those AC45s.
