So torsen differential is just two wheels attached to a rod, it doesn't make one wheel move in different speed than the other.. Then why is it called a differential?

The two wheels are not attached to each other. Also, google it up to learn about the true thing and the mechanism behind it

When no wheel is slipping, it acts like a normal differential. When one wheel spins freely, it locks itself so the wheels turn at same speed.

And one use of it you cant just connect the engine to the wheels, you need a system or a mechanism to spin the wheels with the movement of the engine
