I'd say the first step is to explain it to a friend. This really helped me outline what the key points should be, and what I needed to add/remove to make it more engaging. After that, it's just a bunch of iterative tests to experiment and improve :)
How many e-mail subscribers did you have after 3 years? I am always wondering if it would be worth to have a separated email list apart from medium. Because it would be one more place to create content for. Not sure it would be worth my time.
I find it's always worth it because you have SO much more control over that audience. You can tell them what you want, with no concerns about algorithms or restrictions of any kind. I don't know exactly, but probably between 3k-5k.

Hello! It really depends. There are definitely writers who make that kind of money (me, for example) but you have to know how to write for Medium. I think there's certainly no harm in trying.

I have used it successfully for researching tricky and complex articles, but it's just such a bad and basic and boring writer that you can't really use it to write articles.
Hey Zulie, do you think non-native English writers can make it on Medium? Besides as a newcomer member, it is hard to build up a rapport with fellow writers when everything is behind a paywall. I can pay for that but is it necessary? Or it's impossible to create my audience without upgrading?
1. You definitely can - Sinem Gunel is a great example of this. English is actually her third language, and she's killing it on Medium (sinemgnel.medium.com) 2. It is possible, it'll just be a little slower

I think you should have titled this "How I made 1k dollars in less than 5 hours". Coz honestly, for many others especially writers from Non English speaking belt wont get that money writing even in 1 month. Yes, I mean it! Also Medium has become such clickbaity s**T that publications might not even entertain paying new writers at all and it's gonna take months even if I start today. Newsletters on the other hand, people dont subscribe to random newsletters these days. That's too tall a claim - making money from Newsletters.
I made that super clear in the intro of the video! also, a month?? It took me years to get here. Anyone expecting to make $1k in 5 hours with a newsletter after writing for just a month is ridiculously optimistic.
Zulie- just asking for an experiment... what do you think about buying an email list for substack... maybe from fiverr. What are the pros and cons via making your own email list. Maybe I should start two substacks one with organic growth and the other with an email list from fiverr and plus organic growth. What do you think of this experiment?
