👍 I used to lose my tomatoes every year to blight until I watched your tomato videos. Trellis, pruning, fertilizing, and using the aspirin spray. Haven’t lost a tomato to blight since. Thank you. ❤

Also try dry powdered milk on your tomatoes. A tablespoon in the hole before you plant the tomatoes, literally works wonders at keeping away all wilt diseases. No joke, I read this in a home gardeners book.

And here I was sure one of those white powders would be something fun for us, too. Well, dang!😆 (I use 3 of the 4 you mentioned). I haven't tried gypsum, yet. But I was thrilled the day I walked into a Dollar General, and on the medication aisle there sat a big bottle of plain ole uncoated white aspirin. I have written on it "Garden Use ONLY", to ensure that if someone has a headache around here, they're just gonna have to suffer. The aspirin are a garden tool in this house, not a medicine.😁 And ty again for the info! I always need a reminder to use my diatom. earth. But the bone meal, I use a couple of bags each season.

I’m so glad you made this video! I got a lot from it but mostly the info on gypsum to help improve clay soil. The native soil here in the mountains of NE AZ is very high in clay. We just had someone dig down 6” in the ground so my husband could lay pavers around our raised beds so it would be easier for us to get down to their level and prune/harvest. The soil that was dug up from this excavation was dumped on one side of our backyard….and it’s a lot. We’ve been discussing how we can make this soil usable in a some flower/ native plant beds we are making in our front yard in the next month or so. Gypsum to the rescue! Now to figure out how to break up those huge clumps! 🤔🤔🤔

Have soaked willow in water for years. Works fine but unless you have a tree to work with nearby, it's a big hassle. White Powder #5 for me is kaolin clay for tomatoes. Helps with heat stress. Doesn't do anything for blooms but seems to create a sunshield on the leaves and fruit. Less cracking on the heirlooms so they can ripen a little more on the vine. Cheap and easy to spray and wash off the fruits.

@@happy2cya70 yes but it is pricey. Depending on where you live, bait shops may have it. I did buy it on eBay a while back. 10lbs for $15. It takes about 4 oz per spray gallon. We run a small farm and keep a lot of it around. Hit me up if you get frustrated.

Willow branches make an excellent compost tea that can be sprayed on your plants. Put cut up willow branches in a 5 gallon bucket of water, and let the branches ferment for 2 weeks. Cover the bucket with a screen to keep out insects, because it really stinks. Strain the solution through cheese cloth or a very fine screen, so that there are no solid particles left in the liquid. Dilute the liquid tea to at least 50% strength or less, and put the solution in a sprayer or spray bottle. Hower for any health safety concerns, do don't use on edible crops if you intend to eat witin 2 weeks. Ornamentals you can apply anytime.

0:24 Gypsum-Calcium sulfate dehydrate. High levels of sulfer and calcuim. Mostly use for breaking up compacted and clay soil. Making it more porous. Also helps to remove salts from the soil. Helps prevent crusting of the soil. Does not change the PH of the soil. Good idea to add compost with it to soil as well. 2:31 Bonemeal-Great source of Phosphorus. The P in the NPK of fertilizer. Slow to break down. Only need to be applied once per year. Plays a big part in photosynthesis, in root, fruit and seed production. Promotes flowering & increases disease resistance. Around base of plants-1 T. Up to a cup around shrubs or trees. Mix a few inches into the soil. Water thoroughly. Too much will disrupt nutients in soil. Follow label direction. Can activate the compost bin. 4:41 Diatamacious Earth-rich in silica. Safe for humans. A natural insecticide. Cutting through eletroskeletons of ants, aphids, and slugs. Must be reapplied after a rain or when wet. 6:13 Aspirin-Helps control disease in garden, produce more fruit and maskes fruit taste better. Works only on olants in the nightshade family. Tomatos, eggplant, potatoes, peppers. Spray aspirin solution. Spray every 2 weeks. Keeps plants immune system up 600 mg of aspirin powder, blend with 1 cup of water. Mix with 1 gallon of water. And use in sprayer. Look for aspirin that is uncoated if using tablets. You can mix in a fertilizer for foliar feeding with it as well.

Thanks for the information. Can anyone out there tell me where to get an inexpensive source of gypsum? It is very expensive to buy from the garden centres. Diatomaceous earth is also very expensive. It is used as an animal feed supplement so you can find it in large bags at your local animal feed supplier. I live in Western Canada so found a 30 lb bag of it at Peavey Mart for a fraction of the cost of the garden centres.

My dad used to collect used gypsum board (dry wall) and throw it down where the soil was hard, then walk over it with boots on to break it into smaller pieces. Of course, parts of the pasture would look like a junkyard for a couple years until the rain and plants had incorporated it a little more. God knows what is in wallboard these days, and if you find old stuff, you will need to watch out for lead paint. My did only use unpainted.
