I’m 62 Wf and I often get up at 5 am and spend an hour shovelling my driveway so that I can shower and dress for work. And then if it is still snowing i am out in work clothes shovelling more. Then come home and park on road and shovel a spot to put my vehicle and pull in and finish the rest of the driveway. Then before bed I may shovel again to make sure it is not to deep for morning work. Just part of life in BC winter. And it keeps me fit.

When I lived off grid in Northern Sweden - just below the Arctic Circle I servided my winter stuff after the winter, making them prepared for the coming winter. Then I stored them and in late September I cleared the area around my house and the road to make it easy to shuffle snow when that came. Finally I also made sure all the equipment I was to use during the winter was placed so that I could access them without any problem when the snow came. I also arranged firewood. Most of it easily accessible near the house, but also a lot in a cold hall so that there was always dry wood to fire with.

Hey Greg and Katie, this is Colleen (Greg‘s stepsister in Saskatchewan). I’ve been watching your channel since you posted the link to the BBC article a few months ago and I am addicted! It is so lovely to see you two working together and to get to know you a bit. I haven’t left a comment yet, but this time Katie specifically told us to at the end of the video, so I figured I’d better obey! Haha. Sending you warm thoughts and a hug! ❤️

Bygolly, try to get updated equipment or totally repair the old equipment before it snows next time. Hope you both and the animals stay warm. You got your work cut out. Awesome video.

Just a suggestion. We have homestead also and live in Northeastern Washington State on the Canadian border. Each year we buy a wall calendar and have it hanging where we see it daily. January 1st we go thru each month and plan out what we need to get done daily and monthly. It helps prepping for the garden, collecting firewood, prepping vehicles for winter and snow removal. It sucks big time trying to put chains and snow plow on the day you need it. We’ve been getting blasted by winter storms so I’m sure you as well. Stay safe and it is going to be on hell of a winter.

I have mentioned to MBF, Jeremy and Ashley about how darn hard it is to pick a favorite and for the reasons picked. One of the easiest reasons for your channel is the absolute devotion that Greg has for you Katie. If anyone can love someone more than his love for you, its going to take down mountains to ever do so. I read peoples faces and their eyes as those will say volumes about the person you shake hands with. A handshake is to me worth more than all of those contracts or paper stuff that is only good as a firestarter to me. All of that said, I hear the voice of a canadian angel speaking when she refers to you Greg. I hope that you see that no matter who reads this, a word of reference is to that person doing the interpretation, of my voice. Its not been easy for the work to get done and keep it fun for a camera to help us enjoy your lives as portrayed on the videos. If I were a wealthy man, some of the harder things you kids are trying to accomplish would be just a snap of your fingers. Of course that is interfering with you kids love for the project that you've set goals for.. its just part of this same thing that you guys have for each other. I would give my shirt off of my back for someone to be better off. I'm too old now to even do a proper job caring for myself now. You kids make my winter months a whole lot better when I watch the two of you get things going. So that said, I shall cut short with a I sure do love the both of you more gooder than a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Now you know that is impossible to beat

Agree, I know another channel that he hooks his up prior to expecting the snow and makes sure everything is working good on it and then he keeps it connected all winter. He just lifts it and drives everywhere he needs to go with it on. I know we all get busy with the many other thing’s we need to do but that’s why it’s best with winter coming to really think about some of the most important things we need to. Stay warm guy’s.

Great video guys. Chicken hair styling! Who knew?! As for snow, we have lived in northern Michigan for 20 plus years. We usually get over 100 inches a year and a couple years over 200 so I’ve used every piece of equipment for snow removal know to mankind. I think you need two things on your wish list. An equipment shed for tractor plow etc and snow tires. I screwed around with chains on my truck. What a pain in the ass. Finally ordered four snow tires pre mounted on cheap rims from the Tire Rack guys. Slapped those guys on and never had a problem plowing a long driveway that was mostly over 25 % grade. And Greg, I know how hard it is the do physical work all day and keep on top of everything at home. But get the best stuff you can manage. Won’t be fiddling with it so much.

Hi👋 from southern New Mexico🌵🌶️. I enjoyed your snow plow day the first of many for you.😳 I grew up in Wisconsin so I feel for you. We have snow at times here but I just watch it melt. When I was younger I went to Colorado Springs to visit my sister. They had a big snow storm so being from Wisconsin I called the City maintenance and asked when they were going to plow.....she laughed and said they didn't plow. People just get out and leave their vehicle in the street like a 2 lane going one way. That was back in the 70's. Crazy! 😲 I enjoyed your video. Have a very Merry Christmas🎄💖

Brings back so many memories when I was growing up in Northern Maine on the Canadian border. Sometimes we would get 2 feet of snow at a time and would have to use the bucket on the tractor because the plow couldn't move it all. Would spend all day digging out. I guess I really do not miss those days too much. That was where we lived and had to deal with it the best we could. Love your site and always look forward to your next video. Stay warm. You are living in a winter wonder land and are sure to have a white Christmas.

Hi Guys, Isnt winter fun? I live in southern B.C. too, and we got the same snow. One tip for you, is mount a piece of 6 to 8 inch wide rubber flap on the top of your plow. I had to do this to my plow and it makes a difference when plowing. the snow will not fly up to the windshield as much. I know it is hard work this life we lead, but it is rewarding. Keep up the good work and videos, good luck!

Are you allowed chains for the tires? A little at a time gets the job done. Ensure all fluids (oil, coolant, brake fluid, transmission oil, wiper fluid) are topped up in truck. Clean and lubricate all the plough's moving parts. Put grease in all nipple points. Start repairing mechanical and electrical connections/switches as you continue to use the plough. May want to install a bonnet guard to reduce blowing snow on windscreen. You survived the first heavy one. Now slowly start planning for the next one. Good you had the day off. So after an early start, time for some R&R. Hot tub or sauna? Hmmm.
