What cannon there is on the "Jokaero" states that the Jokaeo can't be enslaved, because the first thing it would do is invent something that would help it escape.

If I recall correctly, In the old lore it was said, that the jokaero were a nomadic race with hyper advaned spaceships. Also they were extremely hard to work with, because they always escaped from captivity.

But did they make Digivices?

actually their home planet could have been near the eldar homeworlds, and when the Eye of Terror was formed it was completely destroyed, and the Jokaero scattered to the wind. What few Refugee ships they had then were taken in by humanity when they wanted to get their revenge on the knife eared assholes for fucking the galaxy up so bad.

Digital weapons are pretty lame. Only advantage they have over "ordinary" gun of said kind (lasgun, helgun, needler, plasma gun, grapler, flamer) is its size and kinda suprise + concealment. Regarding power of blast, ammo clip size, accuracy of aiming, or almost anything else, they are equal or worse than ordinary handguns. I hoped you´d mention the jokaero spiders (source book space wolf gray hunter i think - the one Ragnar is assigned to the Wolf-blade squad on terra and acompanies the navigator girl during her voyage. She is atacked in her bedroom and Ragnar destroys the robot. Btw, the Jokaero spaceships (it seams like a frame) are one of best ships in galaxy. Also, you failed to mention a fact, imperium does not understand the "language" of jokaero, or even does not know if there IS any. And the fact, jokaero may be captured, but usually dissassemble the spotting equipment in the cell and when enough time left, they usually use any surrounding resource to create tools for escape. Jokaero are (by long shot) indetainable. Jokaero live in family groups and usualy TAKE whatewer they need. Be it half a kilo of grain crop, or powercore of main planetary generator, there is little that may stop them. Guys. You are the prime and (for some) only source of fluff on the topic, you are aiming at. Please, try to be more thorough, and crosscheck at least 2 different WH40K wikies on net, before you go "40 facting" jokaero, simply stating they are the mastermind behind the ring-guns (aka digi weapons). It IS true, but there is an interesting, thrilling LOT more beind and around it, you failed to mention.

Humanity in the 40k universe has plenty of slaves. You hear about it all the time especially in the novels. A good example is servitors who are humans and lesser alien races that have had their will literally taken from them by mechanical and psychological means to become servants. Additionally certain planets work entirely off the backs of slaves and forced labor. Jakero aren't slaves they're just rare and usually have positions of moderate power or at least privilege, they're also inherently introverted. Also the emperor was only ok with aliens that succeeded power to the imperium at large but understood that aliens have different views and morals than humans and thus were largely incompatible with it. Towards the end of the era before the heresy he had a bleaker, less tolerant viewpoint towards aliens than he did at the start, largely due to his experiences with them but more specifically the eldar who were in his eyes not to be trusted.

You said they were a xenos race and that it could be ancient xenos tech....also they were created by the old ones just like the Orks. Actually there is references to how hard it is to contain or command Jokaero, the Jokaero do what they Jokaero want to do and its hard to get them to do anything they don't feel like. So really calling them slaves... eh? Entities that mankind exploits, defiantly. The Jokaero is also very good at crafting things that help them escape, and they CAN make space ships that can go FTL, but they use something other than the warp to do it, but the Imperium only has theories about the tech and no true understanding of it. (its basically hinted that its a Star Trek style warp drive, and they never leave real space in a sense to travel) The Jokaero will however help those they think of as "friends" and that is likely how they are exploited. An individual acts friendly to a Jokaero and lures into help and serving the cause of the Imperium, even if the Jokaero doesn't really understand what it is doing... or it does but can't communicate that fact.

Digital Vulcan mega-bolter?

I thought using xeno's tech and modifying imperial tech was considered highly heretical by the adeptus mechanus. but according to the wiki, even skittari warriors use these digiweapons. How come i never even heard of those guys working in the imperuim until now.

From how I understand it, the Jokaero are less seen as slaves than as pets/animals or something in the vein of servitors, since they don't function socially like other species - they don't seem to talk or really communicate, they don't seem to congregate and form cohesive social units (have no info on their reproduction or possible family structures even). And the imperium is fine with accepting alien animals like the Grox as livestock... So as long as the Jokaero don't behave in dangerous ways, they will be seen as curious animals that literally shit gold for whoever 'owns' them. People who get rich rarely tend to question the source of their wealth too closely. After all, ponder the idea that the Jokaero are spread all across the imperium, with no one knowing about their homeworld - because they want it that way. They could potentially, as creations of the old ones, have access to the webway, allowing them to appear almost anywhere in the galaxy - or be able to build teleporters to the same effect. The Jokaero homeworld might even be outside the galaxy or some crazy inaccessible place that only their tech (or the Old Ones) can reach. They remind me a bit of the citadel servitors from Mass Effect. They might all just be waiting, preparing, listening for the signal from their masters that triggers them to open the gates and let the Old Ones back into the galaxy, who might or might not be the benevolent life-loving beings of eldar legends. Maybe the few that survived became dreadful monsters during that long long time in the dark void. A faction of stark, cold terror that casts a shadow deep enough to blot out the stars themselves, leaving extinguished husks and frozen-over worlds where it passes...

Let me tell you a Jokaero. The Emperor protects.

In the most open interpretations of the Emperor, he only wanted Xenos who actively posed an existential threat to humanity to be cowed or culled. He understood that they had a right to try, to defend themselves, and be left alone. Unfortunately, like almost everything the EoM set down, it has been perverted and now nearly all Xenos races, whether they pose a threat or not, are targeted for annihilation.

Ok here's a question as old and talented the Emperor of man was how is it since he's basically immortal. With all his planning and assets he didnt hide away a complete STC? So that he would have access to all tech knowledge some day if needed. It just seems so implausible as intelligent as he was and his planning he would not have been prepared to save that knowledge in his secret base.

I was reading somewhere that jokaero aren't considered sentient by the imperium because they don't communicate they just tinker by instinct, the only way to keep a jokaero around is to keep it tinkering and fed.

Question: What do you think the Emperor's template for dealing with Xenos that are not hostile to the arrival of the Imperium and or willing to agree to a pact or set treaty of non aggression early or possibly even after the threat and or even a light displays of hostility.

Couldn't you do a Gatling style digital gun setup so the slower to recharge weapons have time to refresh as the next one is fired? Assuming money was no object of course. I could see an ornamented vintage pepper box pistol that can fire in Gatling or different levels of shotgun intensity that is inverse to the recharge time from two shots like a double barrel combat shotgun up to every barrel at once when you just need to.. "FUCK YOU DEMON/NECRON/ORK/TYRANID FUCKHEAD!" *vaporizes everything directly in front of them*

More Jokaero lore for sure! The Emperor def wasn't an extreme "kill em all" xenophobe. Didn't he have the opinion that as long as a xeno race either accepts Terran rule/superiority, aided us or at least stay out of our way then they're ok. Otherwise exterminatus all day?

I always thought the Jokaero were probably slaves, but sort of by choice in order to survive in a horribly xenophobic empire. They are most definitely smart enough to know that if they didn't stay behind the scenes and adhere to their "masters" wishes, they would be wiped out without a second thought.

I disagree with your opinion on Jokaero. In my opinion, it's much more simple than you make it out to be. They are seen more as animals, not a xeno species like Eldar, or the Orks. This is because Jokaero may be sentient, but they're not sapient.

I had a thought. What if races created by the Old Ones had been meant to work together and combine their abilities? For example, what if the Orks (Krork?) gathered en masse to make the most of their Waaagh! power and begin making tech and weapons in bulk, then the Jokaero use their abilities to enhance that tech and make it usable by non Orks??? Combine this with the Eldar (Aeldari) and psyker technology, and the Webway, and you have a powerful united enemy for the C'Tan and the Necrons. What if they didn't win because they couldn't come together in time?

Awesome vid guys. I've never even seen mention of the Jokaero before. And that theory was awesome too! I couldn't help thinking maybe The Old One's obtained their original specimens from old Terra. But given this is the first time I've heard of the Jokaero, my knowledge of the timeline should be treated pretty cautiously. Wouldn't the creation of the Jokaero precede primate evolution by millions of years? Anyway, thanks for the great content and I look forward to the next one.

It may be that the few we see are not slaves but rather the few conscripts that the Jakaro send to the imperium. Other abhumans may just be more populous. And just like their tech they would be highly sought after.

I don't think the Jokaero can be considered slaves. It'd be like calling a horse a slave. Jokero are animals with instinctive knowledge of technology.

Isn't there a few other examples of slave alien races? Or imperium protectorate states. The horus heresy books spoked of the lords of terra debating this about the liar.

The only reason the Jokaero exist in 40k is because the original group that made 40k went out and bought a bunch of plastic orangutans at their local toy shop and decided to give them rules and a sketchy backstory. Same with the Grox that are plastic dinosaur models. The same with the Crotalids, no points for guessing what they were based off of, it's too easy.
