How to know an Imperial Guard regiment is badass? Their gear is "passed down through generation" as to get the gear of previous soldiers either you have to keep winning so the gear of the fallen can be retrieved instead of abandoned in enemy controlled areas or, in more rare occasions, a soldier somehow has to survive long enough to retire as his unit gets appointed as planetary defense regiment and be able to return to his homeworld (I guess despite passage of time IG veteran is such a rare thing that planetary government would grant him a home and good job/monthly pay as a sign of respect) while being young enough to have a few children so one of them can join IG and get his gear...

I really dig this Regiment; they kind of have that "tragic, ill-starred Hero who fights not for glory, but for redemption, even if it gets them killed" story that I can somewhat relate to. Also they have an aesthetic appeal ( to me ). I can see hints of Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth & Cossack military fashion, and even the Prussian style 'Death's head' emblem. I am sure there is more I missed but, very stylish Guardsmen!

I would totally pair the Vostroyan Firstborn up with the Space Wolves. In fact I'm thinking about doing exactly that with my company of Space Wolves. Its just they seem very similar in the way that their soldiers are hardy Russian/Scandinavian type soldiers who are used to fighting in very cold climates and proudly adopt beads and mustaches.

Isn't it just the first born child? We see female Vostroyan Firstborn after all.

I still don't know if their ancestors were Russian or Polish or some other Slav nationality. I can see a mixture of multiple Slav cultures fused together (and becouse I'm a Slav myself, I can judge).

Why the hell can people doing this genre of video not learn how to pronounce words properly? Ba-roak, stead-fast-ly (no y after stead). The lore is full of archaic lore and anyone into it should learn to say the words properly
