69Week we didn't get Tickets in Minerva theatre. 70MM screen plus Stereo phonic sound. People just went on and on. Epic Movie Sholay all time Hindi film . No movie can match Sholay till date.

Its not overlooked. It was well received when released but the ghost of Sholay will stay with Ramesh Sippy. Sholay's large looming shadow will to a certain extent will always belittle Ramesh Sippy's other works.

I loved this interview. Sholay remains my favorite Hindi movie till date. The story drew inspiration from the Japanese movie "The seven samurai" (which also inspired the famous hollywood movie "The magnificent seven) and had scenes copied from movies like "Once upon a time in the West". The train chase scene is copied from the movie "North West Frontier". But copying or being inspired by something good is no crime. As long as the final product is good its fine. Sholay was indeed an excellent product of hard work.

Media had written off Sholay till 3days. Bad reviews in all Papers. Sholay had a dream run from Monday. Bad reviews in the Premier shows. But after that Sholay was History. 8years dream run. Greatest Movie. Public decided the movie fate not print and Media.

Shaan missfired because of a weak Screenplay. 1980.But Great music by RD Burman only saving grace in SHAAN. Expectations were sky high after Sholay. That was also a issue.

look DDLJ cannot be compared to Sholay. I know DDLJ broke Sholay's record of 5 years run but is fake. It was probably forced to run for 5 years. I remember Sholay was the first film I watched in theatres in rerun. I was probably around 10 years. And so it was 1990's. Let me tell you theater was packed in Kolkata, and the audience cheered clapped like crazy. Such was impact of Sholay after 15 years. As Ramesh Sippy said when Dharmendra said ek ek ko chun chun ke maroonga, chun ke maroonga. Gabbar Singh aaraha hoon main. Audience just went wild.

Gabbar is back is just a title inspired by sholey's gabbar. The story is a remake of Telugu film that has nothing to do with sholey. So calling sholey appealing to Pan India audience is not correct. This movie is most exaggerated in Hindi speaking states. In south many people might not have even seen this movie. There are many more movies in many languages that can be termed as path breaking. This movie is undoubtedly overrated! Sorry to disagree!

Uptill the 90s most of he Southern films were Hindi film remakes.....Evene the biggest career defining films of Rajnikanth were the remakes of BigB's films.. Now its the other way around where Bollywood is remaking Telugu and Tamil films....

Sholay was basically a remake of a far superior Mera Gaon Mera Desh. Sholay , although had some great scenes and good acting was too long and frankly too boring! Raj Khalsa was a much superior director and Vinod Khanna was much better than Amjad Khan!

although vinod khanna was amazing in the film..butbsholay os beyond comaprison..drama, comedy, music, action.or superb screenplay..sholay is literally a national Film...its a complete Film which got everything!!
