Thank you Marco for all your inspirations. I've painted my whole e30 in my garage using the cheap LVLP gun and the small vervor compress after watching a lot of your videos. It came out not bad apart from a few runs. It's no show quality but it did saved me a lot of money. Thank you so much again

Hell yeah scratch and spray is my favorite, everyone with a classic wants laser straight and a glass finish but they don’t have the paper to match their desires. Keep it realistic and keep it moving.

That first coat was heavy heavy...hence the huge run on the fender. I didn't see any medium coat come out of that gun. Not a big fan of painting over dings and dents either. I remember when I first started painting. Keep trying and learning , you will get there. Overall if the customer is happy we are all happy.

Enjoying the old schools on the channel.lately! They can be a lot of work. Got a 68 Dart GT convert job in right now. Owner has it stripped down. Everything is off. Making my life a bit easier for a change! A last note: cutting expenses! Using the cheese grater like you, using my metal and plastic cups instead of pps. (But i am using the little paint cup filters everyone says don't use😂) Using Speedokote clear can save $$ but can still be trusted. Looking for the best value for my money. Thanks Joe👍

Great video as always. Considering it was hot that little run isn't bad at all. Didn't know the sunlight from a window had that much affect.

I'm impressed with how you paper your vehicles off and you make sure your paint.color doesn't get on.under carriage

What I use to do when spraying enamel was after it was tacking up I would mist a clean lacquer thinner over the final coat of paint. A quick mist. What it does is re-melt the paint and take away orange peel. Emphasize "Light mist" over the car. But it works and saves sanding and is really glossy after.

👀 Nice oldschool project man. I have the same year and was hoping to get it into paint this year but won't. Single stage has always been a thorn in my side for large projects but as always great content 🏁🏁🏁.

Nicely done Marco, as you say for a quick single stage job it looks amazing. I've seen a few of you good folks in the USA using the cheese grater and they do look like they work well plus save a little money but for some reason you don't see many people using them over here in the UK but I really don't see why that is🤔🤷‍♂👍John UK

I started with single stage when I was 24, dupont centari. I'm 58, trained in base coat clear coat but hats off to you on the single stage!! Looks fantastic!

My cheese grater is one of my most important tools but you needto hot it right before it sets up.... it need to be tacky and sticky... then you can get to work with it and its amazing 🎉🎉🎉🎉

I have a question for you that may lead to some future content. In the beginning of the video you showed a rust spot, can you show how you remove, treat, and prep that spot? Looking for your take on cleaning up older stuff that you don't replace the metal on.

Marco - I’ll be doing my 72 chevelle in a similar manner, at home (also a respray over old single stage red…). I have the same minor rust bubbles in a few spots at bottoms of the fenders. Can you share what process / products you did for a quick fix on this? Simple grind it out / epoxy primer / Fiberglass reinforced filler ? I know the purists will recommend cutting it out and patching with metal…..but I’m not trying to create a Barret Jackson car here! Thanks in advance - Love your real world videos!

I painted 3 cars with single stage.Two of them came out good, the one was metallic paint and it turned out really bad. The solid colors seemed to be a lot easier to paint.

Looks okay, hot days just use a very slow reducer with your harder which will let it flow out better less orange peel. I started my career 45 yrs ago using straight enamel and slow reducer with harder! We sanded and buffed look like glass…but cutting it the paint would last long sun eat it up! Anyway just my thoughts.

Very nice guy. Say when your spraying say a hood and at the end of the hood on both sides do u lift up on the trigger at the edge of the hood them press it on quickly again when you go back the opposite direction? Or you keep the trigger pressed the whole time.😮 Thanks.

Reason the older cars peeled was cause had laqure primer under paint that had hardener ,they egg shell

Not a fan of red cars but another superb job. The owner sure will stand out driving that around when he shows up. Imagine if it has some SMR42 on it. It’d be like glass.

Bro! That's a Factory Finish back in the 60s and 70's :) I'm a Ford Guy but that El Camino looks great! Drop in a Ford 429 Big Block and I'll be happy... Watching Chevy Guys lose their freaking minds of a Ford engine in a Chevy :) But how many Chevy 350's and LS motors are dropped into old Fords??

How come so much orange peel this time around? Usually you lay it flat. Was the psi turned down, or was it the paint/activator?

With a single stage, is it usually one coat of primer and two coats of paint?

you didnt mention what kind of single stage paint you used. acrylic enamel? lacquer? urethane? rustoleum? what kind of paint?

Ice never sprayed single stage but could you use the masking tape trick to fix the runs the way you do with Base/clear?

What about mixing 2k base & 2k clear to spray only once?

hey man i have a 89 f150 that needs painted i’m a very inexperienced painter what would be the best easiest color to spray it with ?

how much time between coats 'layers ' i can't get full coverage with the first coat

If that was your boys doing the music… May I offer a suggestion… believe it or not… ( if you are using a digital recording studio ( DAW) like pro tools or logic or Reaper…. Slooowww ypthe click track WAAAAAY down…… and play to that/ record at a VERY SLOW TEMPO..( especially the drummer , bass player and keyboard rhythmic parts)…. Then..after the parts are recorded SLOW..the. Return the tempo back to the tempo you initially wanted…. And “ micro errors” in the rhythm… will them be minimized like “ zooming out” from the paint job… Like going from 400 to 600 to 1000, 1500, and 2000…. The errors get blended away… I would know… as a drummer it saves me from my own crappy drum recording… I’m ok live but HORRIBLE in the studio…

Have a '69 Dodge Dart Swinger that is "Charger Red" from the factory with the white rear stripe. The original 340/727 combo was swapped out with the 383 powertrain from a '68 Road Runner; thus, I'm not really concerned with "Factory original" craziness. While some things are far from stock offerings, I do not want it to look as if I threw modern stuff out of a catalog at it- there is a way to do it where car people might pick up on the subtle & not-so-subtle upgrades (4-wheel disc brakes, 16" x 7" rims & rubber, retro Corbeau's with the rear seat upholstered to match, stuff like that). Funny thing? I am seriously thinking about doing the paint in a single-stage paint, possibly the Summit "Viper Red." Why? Because it gives the biggest impression off the bat, plenty durable, and inexpensive to repair. The car is from Central Texas, all-original panels, no rot...

Shit I'll take one of those $400 paint jobs. Hit me up I have a 92 chevy k1500. No rust, just needs the bed painted to match the cab and a refresh
