I was surprised to discover they can't happen anymore in the current version. So sad. I was lucky enough to get to raid Ogrimmar once in OG in likeearly 2005. SO much fun! So much lag!

I dont know how Guild Wars 2 did that, but blizzard should learn from their enemy. (GW founder was formerly a member of Blizzard WoW development team. They had a fight or smtg)
Was a fun battle. Was a warrior just blade storming in and then dying like 10sec later. Wish horde got together more but either way was a fun battle for the hours we did
We had a guy on our realm Beermonster or something like that who used to organise runs on the Ally, so smooth. Sometimes 2 40 man groups co-ordinating.
We intentionally stayed outside the gate. Of course we can just swoop in, but that's too easy. We were farming HKs like crazy. Myself I had like 700 HKs from just being out there. The goal was not to let it be an easy fight. We were playing the long game on purpose.
I remember a guild doing this in vanilla wow (not classic) they overloaded the server with the amount of people in one place and blizz handed out some temp bans on the guild that organized it.
Christ i remember when they put the patch in for the war bear for killing all city bosses achievement. We went that night and did it a few times for the hell of it. Laughing-skull horde. Good times!
This is why games like elder scrolls, are Warhammer online or Star wars the Old Republic in a way where it discourages you from doing this and this is why wow has lasted for so long for pvpers
It's really too bad that the game can't handle shit like this. I feel like people would be more willing to do big attacks on major cities if it didn't run like shit.
We did that I. Ey when wow was released. Over 20 full raids of horde we took on all 3 main town in the same time. After 15 min server dropped and have to be rolled back 1 hour cause they cannot handle it. 20 years later and they still can’t handle it? Lol
bro I did this back then even before exist achivments on the Horde side, I never needed 400 people to defeat alliance leaders even with Alliance faction full on the server trying to kill us. I also wiped in different times, and when you wipe in this its over cause the faction defending their leader wins easy with the guards and the boss helping them.

Would be cool if that actually had a meaning. But it's actually just a bunch of nerds wasting their own time and also wasting time of those players in Orgrimmar. And all that's happening in extremely bad 2006ish graphics.
