There is always something new to see and learn about on any transmission Richard disassembles. It amazes me how much knowledge Richard has gained over the years and adapting and learning about each new transmissions and their updates through so many iterations and different manufacturers.

Your right Teresa, makin a full manual shift is a trick most guys no nothing about how easy it is. Lather rinse repeat,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
@13:34 You're saying "rewind, rewind..." Yes ma'am you are absolutely correct. I just got our T400 back from the shop... it goes in our '83 31ft Pace Arrow motorhome. Given our preferred RVing places are in the mountains, keeping it in a set gear has been something I've been looking for. You just told me in 30 seconds how to save several hundred dollars, considering the manual valve body I have been eyeballing. Now... would you guys PLEASE revisit the lock-up torque converter mod? I know Richard has mentioned it before, but it was in a racing application. I'm after a heavy duty (24,000 pounds- M.H. and 10k shop trailer) street stable system.
APPRECIATE YOU SHOWING THE MODIFICATIONS YOU DO - PLEASE SPEND MORE TIME ON WHY YOU DO THOSE - ESPECIALY THE HIGHER PERFORMANCE MODS - KUDOS TO YOUR WIFE SHE IS SO SWEET AND PATIENT AND HER PHOTOGRAPHY IS SO PROFESSIONAL
40:16 that bearing you’re holding looks a a old Torrington Bearing. Back in the late 80’s the old Torrington plant in Clinton South Carolina made those bearings.
excellent video i have been watching for some time now and really have learned a lot over the years just watching youtube videos it’s really amazing so i thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience with the world as it’s not only interesting but also helpful because you can’t read experience from a book. anyway i have a question what is honestly to worst transmission you would tell someone to never use besides CVT most of us if not all know there no good also if you don’t already have a video on this transmission it would be cool if you have one come in to see your thoughts and it’s the 6 speed ford used from 2006 to 2010 v8 explores it’s my understanding that it is basically a jaguar zf transmission is there any truth to that
Once again you took apart a automatic transmission, You really should make a video on how to put the gut's back in a transmission and show how you would rebuild one , and the parts needed to do the rebuild.
Richard, I just refound you. Sorry it took so long. Do some build videos, and pass some of your knowledge on to the next generation. You're never going to run out of work! Best wishes.
Richard and Teresa love the videos but have a question how many turns can you screw the modulator in safely? I have a 400 and shifts into third b4 I get thru the red-light. It works perfectly though as far as holding power If you manually upshift it. Thanks in advance
I have a 400 in my '72 C1o behind a 402 big block. The shifter and linkage are so sloppy to where Reverse is hard to find. Is this a transmission issue or a linkage issue? Trans works fine other than that.
I have a 64 Buick with a Super Turbine 400 (ST400), everyone tells me it’s the exact same as the TH400, is that true? Are they like for like swappable?
Buick had switch pitch torque converters in some models. Extra wire in addition to kick down to activate I believe. Basic trans SHOULD swap as long as the bell housing pattern is the same. You lose the switch pitch if using a non-Buick trans.
Is that the 2.2:1 ratio low gear Muncie? A friend owned a shop that imported American Muscle Cars back in the 90s and they offloaded a 69 Z28 Camaro from the Shipping Container and blasted down the road and did that thing whine like a bitch!
What's your number richard off road truck and like to mess with the governor to get a better 23 shift out of it the 12 is pretty good buddy of mine's wife struck I built for down here in Florida
