It's always so cool to see Cy working, and explaining things. He's one of those who hasn't just "done it all", but is an inspiration to others to also do more. In a world of "toxic masculinity" and other vicious anti-human narratives, we need more people like Cy, and more people inspired by people like Cy. I'm proud to have a knife he made, and to use it. It's not a museum piece to be viewed and revered, but a tool to be used and respected, with a nod to the maker.
Awesome video. Thank you Scott and Cy for making this about a beautiful tool. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I could listen to Cy tell stories all day.
Cy Swan is a man among men, a hero and a man to emulate, like Scott. Thank you for sharing Cy, thank you for sharing ANYTHING. It is all appreciated. Mr. Sweetie likes Cy's approach to shop organizational management. How wonderful to have friends like Cy and Ken. Merry, merry Christmas to all including Cy.
I would give up my vacation for the year to spend a long afternoon talking to Cy. More realistically listening to Cy. Scott and Nate thank you so much for letting us get to know a sliver of Cy!!!!
Cy’s Beaudry is a Champion model 11 # 400. The only bigger Beaudry is the model 11 it is a # 500. There is probably more information available online for this brand of power hammer than any other ever constructed.
Getting out in the world, meeting experienced people and learning all the different things they do with their lives is a valuable education. If you can't get out for whatever reason, watching videos like this is an excellent alternative.
Love watching all your videos and love hearing all of Cy’s stories. I’m from Oklahoma and remember that storm. I was the safety director for a trucking company and most of the state was without power for close to a week. Our trucks were parked for many days. One of the main reasons we bought a wood burning stove for our house so we could keep warm if something like that ever happened again.
impressive hammer, Will Stelter restored one with a clutch like this a few month ago and it was impressive to see all the component that worked together
That is one impressive hammer for sure! I have worked in Tulsa at the tech school for 23 years, we missed 2 week of school during that ice storm! Cy is a true American craftsman for sure!!
Nate, I went through that ice storm in OKC, & 2 more. 12 days w/out power and keeping a college with generator power is a challenge. Now days students ask how long until we get the wifi back on line.
He not only can expert blacksmith , he knows exactly how the machine tools operate mechanically, I guess that’s the difference between an expert and master
CY was apart of that classical era that produced so much creativity. The creativity is still there it's just necessity is the mother of invention and we don't really have to struggle much that stimulates creativity. Might be why cannabis stimulates creativity because it puts a stress on the body.
