40 plus years later and it pretty much is the same with only a few cars here and there now with a few cyclist as well, way back in the days I had days to where there was not a single car cars nor any other cyclist, if you crashed back then you would be in big time trouble, reason why I would let others know where I was going, if I didn't show up then they would know where to look for me, these were the days when not many were riding bicycles. I used to live near Alum Rock Park. One of my craziest rides one day, I road up to the top of Mt Hamilton and I looked over to the Santa Cruz mountains and I said what the hell, I'm off to Santa Cruz for a TICO TACOS Burrito, no I didn't just go there for a Burrito but I did get a Burrito in Capitolo at El Toro Bravo, from there make a B-line straight to Soquel San Jose road then to Summit road, get some snacks at the General store on Summit then to Old Santa Cruz High way which ends at HWY 17 then a short ride into Los Gatos, these were the days that bikes were allowed on 17 down until the Los Gatos exit, PROBLEM though the Los Gatos exit is on the left side, then to Double Rainbow for a lousy cup of joe then back to the East Side of San Jose. I now live in the Netherlands where mostly the over pass is the high ground over here, boring! Glad to see that others cyclist are now enjoying a Mt Hamilton road ride, The hamlet of Sunol at one time it's mayor was a DOG!

Love to hear stories of climbs like this. I’m in Portland, but just hearing your story of the ride, makes me want to go find this and ride it. While the video was good, it’s memories like yours that I’m after

Man, that looks fun! But it really triggers some PTSD from a spill I took on a high speed descent in Thailand last year. I'm just starting to get my descending b@lls back. Be safe!

Brave to be descending on wet pavement and leaning over crossing the slick center line like that.

Putting down 1200 watts with barely a spike in heart rate is NUTS. Awesome ride

9:59 on this turn as I was descending, a driver coming uphill crossed the double yellow to turn into the gravel and blocked my entire lane with his car. I slammed into his passenger side and flipped over his roof. It was my first time doing Mt. Ham and I was so close to home! It happened on my 35th mile. My bike was totaled and I walked away with some bruises and cuts. I took photos of his car and the road for the police report. After taking photos I got on the phone with SJPD and then the driver took off! Thankfully I got his plate number and they found him. This happened a couple weeks ago. I did Mt. Ham yesterday and got my redemption, but there were several cars that took the corners extra sharp and were on the center paint. So many close calls… Stay safe everybody! Hamilton is a dangerous road with plenty of fast drivers who gamble on every corner thinking they have the entire road to themselves and use as much space as possible.

That’s a scary story! Glad you only had bruises and cuts. Can I ask, what time of day were you riding? I only ask because I have found the road to be fairly vacant early in the am.

@@dylanauker4031 you’re right; the morning is the time to do it. Unfortunately I was coming down mt ham at around 4

Road condition seems sketchy. Or is it just the wet patches?

I enjoy all of your videos. Is there anyway to include the elevation % to these types of videos?

I love your channel, but the wind noise ruins these videos. Can’t do it. He who wanna be like SAFA must buy appropriate mic wind stopper thingy!

Turn the volume down…?

That's different ... I mean, it's a different content. Not bad, but still some work has to be done compared to SAFA.
