Nice I’m not into the shooter games and it’s a long time since they made a real time strategy game for 40k and I’m probably too old for that to lol, but this looks great 😊
I also agree. In a setting with no real "goodies" (faction wise, at least), the Dark Eldar still manage to be about the worst. That's because out of all of them, the Drukhari aren't pretending to be anything more high minded than what they are, what they are they choose to be. That's why they are my favourite faction...also because they are basically psychic vampires, and I love vampires (so long as they don't sparkle)!
Theres lots of elaboration and nuance described in the path of the dark Eldar books. But few non-dark Eldar collectors seemed to have read them even though they are excellent. I don’t see any real reference to the events in them or aspects of the dark city explained in them in any lore videos.
The Drukhari are one of the most compelling factions in 40k, in my opinion, because their motivations are unique. They aren't trying to learn from the(millions of years) of mistakes of their past. They aren't trying to improve anything, or really even conquer anything if we're being honest. They just found a dark corner of the universe to keep doing exactly what brought down their civilization in the first place - if not worse. You don't see this often in fiction but it's a disturbingly likely calculation for a society as corrupt and given over to degeneracy as the Drukhari are. When you've already hatefucked a god of debauchery into existence that doomed your civilization... why stop now? Why go back?
They're also just hanging on by a desperate thread to their souls and avoiding eternal suffering and damnation. They really have no other option, and are just scared.
@inthefade some might be, others just embrace it. Haemunculi are pretty much immortal, sadistic, super scientists at this point. I don't think they're too worried about anything.
With no disrespect to the calming, sleep inducing aspects of your voice, I have no idea how people use these videos for sleep lol. Commorragh is probably the last place I want to subject my impressionable subconscious to while my brain is picking out things to dream about on the way down into deep sleep…I’m wide awake listening to every word lol. Thanks for the great video as always.
For me, I listen with rapt attention the first time, and then I can add that video for the Leutin Sleep Club. I could never sleep to a first listen of a Leutin Video.
after completing this chapter of Rogue Trader i can confirm they captured the soul crushing horror of Commorragh perfectly, i hated ever minute of it . 8/10 would recommend. points lost for being a bit buggy right now
I hated the arena fight as i found it difficult at hell on normal, i brought too many range an support companions with no real melee/tank other than the MC. After the 2nd fight i was yelling "WHEN WILL THIS SUFFERING END", the Space Wolf, Cassia and the Eldar Ranger carried every fight. I already hated eldar in general but now all i want is to see their accursed species burn! Their maiden worlds cracked, their Craftworlds gutted exposed to the void, thier soul stones smashed and their blasted dark city cut off from realspace to let them starve or better yet be devoured by the arch-enemy in the Warp.
Bit infested with Tyranids indeed, but agreed. Would pray to the Edge in front of the Stifler again in a heartbeat. I'll have to finish the game to see just how thoroughly Commorragh got struggle snuggled when Sai'lanthresh suddenly realized there's a juicy hole in its defenses, but a lot of edgybois must have gotten a taste of their own medicine.
Rogue trader has proven to be a dream come true for me, it fulfills putting you in a position of power, as well as that of a rogue trader, so incredibly well i am blown away. The way it truly makes you feel like a truly powerful ruler is truly impressive and something other games have tried to do and utterly failed over the years. Their attention to detail and lore is so good ive yet to really run into any hiccups with it so to speak... ill stop gushing now but im in love, that is all.
If only the rescue fleet of that Salamanders Strike Cruiser that Vect brought into Commorragh for his coup d'état, would have started firing cyclonic torpedoes and virus bombs in all directions when they where leaving...
I've bought Rogue Trader, but probably won't play it until considerably later. But I have been playing a lot of Gladius, completely new to it, and took up Drukhari as my main learning faction (I dipped my toes in with Eldari a few hours before the Drukhari DLC dropped). It's been very fun, so I really appreciate seeing this video in my feed; since I'm already a Drukhari and general fantasy Dark Elf/Drow enjoyer anyway.
I've been doing the same! If you haven't already, you should check out the "Too Many Voices" mod on the steam workshop. It adds quality voice acting like in dawn of war to all the units. They just need to complete Adeptas Sororitas and Drukhari still, but it adds a ton of immersion.
@@JTS970 Sounds like fun, I've been using the Locknot expansion mod for map size and other misc things, but it would be a good companion to that. Now if only the wiki would get updates like these mods are.. Edit: Apparently they updated when I wasn't looking (partially). They didn't even have Sororitas up when the Drukhari DLC hit.
Dangerous time to be dropping a new video, but I'm off on holiday this week so can watch straight away. Currently playing Rogue Trader. It's my Baldur's Gate 3. Perfect.
I would like to thank you for introducing me to the 40K universe. I fell upon your channel during the pandemic never knowing or hearing anything about the 40 K and literally loving the lore, tho I don't play the tabletop I really enjoy your lore and the verse Thanks for the introduction and keeping me company with your lore when I was working at the hospital.
I just got rogue trader yesterday and I can't put it down. My housemates love it to. It's so good. I'm loving the lore and game play. Need more warhammer games like this for console
You're a staple for any new player to the 40k universe. I've been recommending you for year. This video is one of the reasons why. You cover it all and make it digestible.. Thank you.
Although you probably will never read this I feel I should say that all other Utub providers disappoint me constantly...yet the quality & enjoyment of you're channel keeps bringing me back! Thank's you french thief
As a sole (soul?) Drukhari player, since 1998, ive never felt like we truly get the screen time and individual character lore/ background we deserve. Especially now that i feel Drukhari are prime faction for being hero heavy, i rely on yourself to keep Drukhari feeling relevant. Thank you.
Oh my god YES, recently finished Rogue Trader, _that_ part was definitely my favourite of all the game's chapters, it reignited my love for the Drukhari. I wish we had more Eldar books, especially Drukhari. As long as it's not written by Gav Thorpe...
Once again the thinking man's 40K lore guru known as Luetin hits us with the deepest of deep dives. Thank you for all your work. This is my favorite channel on youtube
I started rogue trader, amd so far just completed the prologue. Awesome, is similar of Mechanicus and ChaosGate:Daemonhunters in the combat design. The music is awesome and I will use it for work.
Luetin09 talk about genfather the book it was a very good read want to hear your thoughts on it. The end of the book has me excited to see what happens next!
Excellent work as always! Your videos truly are a sobering piece of art where so many others only glorify the 40k universe. I enjoy the setting and characters, but I really like your perspective of "Would you really enjoy such an existence?"
Christmas is the Drukkaris favorite holiday. Endless screams and blinding light, death lurking in through the chimney and surging fear you will burst from gorging yourself in delicious human meat.
This is so funny I've been looking for a video on dark city specifically recently to sleep to and now it's here. It's like my thoughts manifested it. Anyway thanks Lore King 09.
Imagine A.Vect sipping hot cocoa in a fireside chair, while hanging up stockings (w/ care)made of hollowed dried human legsskins- filled within to the brim w psycho-stims & poison candy-to spare ❄️ 🎁 🎄
"With a mighty voice he shouted: "Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great! She has become a home for demons and a haunt for every evil [1] spirit, a haunt for every unclean and detestable bird. 3: For all the nations have drunk the maddening wine of her adulteries. The kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries." 4: Then I heard another voice from heaven say: "Come out of her, my people, so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues; 5: for her sins are piled up to heaven, and God has remembered her crimes. 6: Give back to her as she has given; pay her back double for what she has done. Mix her a double portion from her own cup. 7: *Give her as much torture and grief as the glory and luxury she gave herself. In her heart she boasts, `I sit as queen; I am not a widow, and I will never mourn.'*
the drukhari are one of the reasons why i keep saying: if i would ever wake up, and find myself in the Warhammer universe and realise it, the first thing i would do is open a window somewhere very high up, and just jump. imagine this happening to us, waking up in that universe and realising where we are, i think not many of us would have the strenght to even try to survive...
This would make for an interesting yet horrifying contest. The Daemons of the Empyriean are immortal, ageless and born of emotions. They had infinite time to explore every possibility of suffering and every deplorable act of mutilation imaginable by such wretched intelligences. Yet the Drukhari are also an ageless civilisation of tens of millions of years of experience in torture and every sensory excess they could find. And they are flesh and blood themselves. Perhaps that would give them a deeper understanding of what suffering means. Either way, I think I'd rather just jump into a rock crusher instead of choosing those two options.
Man, the W40k game sountracks really slap lately. Mechanicus, Darktide, Rogue Trader... I love it also listening to this as I am being absolutely wiped by a squad of Wordbearers I stumbled upon and was absolutely not ready to face.
You know what would be fun story? A horror story... from a Drukhari. But whats the horror then the Drukhari would suffer? A Culexus assassin who got into Commorragh. Now that be an interesting horror story.
