In my opinion, anyone who is interested in maths or competitive play should watch stat check. Its an amazing podcast and website and the people that run it have created a very friendly community.
Majorkill and Weshammer, you did include my boys Auspex and Arbitor Ian. But Wess and Major have made easy to digest content that allowed me to invite my friends to participate in a funny way. When i search for W40K (depending on the question) Luetin, Wehammer and Majorkill appear quite often (in a new browser without my data).
We appreciate the shoutout! Thanks for thinking of us. And I think you'd be welcome on our channel, the beauty of editing helps with all family friendly initiatives! We've been wanting to try your PVE mode soon too! Trying to figure out when :). Maybe you should come play it with us!
Want to shout out Oculus Imperia for his 'in kayfabe' lore videos. Its not exactly a small time channel, but he does fill a really cool lore niche that I haven't really seen replicated any better. He's a wonderful orator and has some excellent writing in his videos. Specifically want to shout out a few of his vids, "The Curious Conversation of Iskander Khayon", an audio drama where his character is speaking with a member of the Thousand Sons. For the Ork lovers, there's "Xenobiologis: The Waaagh Effect of the Orks" with a wonderful monologue by Nate Crowley as an in universe Ork.
Another vote for Mr Imperia, his voice is fantastic and the commitment to the in universe framing is so good, it could be utterly cringe but it works perfectly
Three I would like to add are the following: 1.) Winters SEO- he is a wargame guy with similar production levels to mini wargaming. He however always tries to infuse a level of narrative to his games. He also has some awesome narrative battle report campaigns in his memberships. Great voice to listen to and do some job ting to. 2.) Little Wars tv- old guys that do historical scenarios, from Vietnam to Punic wars. It is cool to see all of the different models and is inspiring me to write narrative scenarios. Their pyrrhic wars series is great and is a hearty recommend for something that needs a 40K conversion ASAP. Also helps I’m a huge history buff too, so very biased here but is great to see other wargame systems 3.) Rogue Hobbies- A former GW employee that started a RU-vid channel. She covers histories of miniature ranges or more obscure miniatures. Just a great way to learn about anything and everything wargaming/GW related. She also has a very infectious joy and enthusiasm in all of her videos
Here are my personal recommendations: LORE CHANNELS (Besides Bricky / Adeptus Ridiculous, Weshammer, Majorkill, Luetin09, etc. for obvious reasons) - Arbitor Ian - NUMBSKULLS (relatively new channel) - Isyander and Koda (podcast like Adeptus Ridiculous) - PancreasNoWork - Janovich (battle recreations) - Oculus Imperia - 3HuntLeo (a Peruvian channel and cool adition to the Latin American community) - La Biblioteca de Mayer (Spanish) - Todo Estrategia (Spanish) - La Biblioteca de Tizca (Spanish) - Sir Khan (Spanish) - Baldermort PAINTING CHANNELS (besides Duncan Rhodes and Squidmar Miniatures) - Pregunta al Enfermo - Dana Howl - TableTopReady - JuanHidalgo Miniatures - Lyla Mev - Goobertown Hobbies - Brushstroke Painting Guides - Cult of Painting VIDEOGAME COVERAGE (in a generalist manner but have done enough gameplay videos and reviews to consider them) - Splattercatgaming - Pilps (for memes and fun) - Mortismal Gaming - Cohh Carnage - Mandalore Gaming - Dansgaming - Party Elite - SurrealBeliefs - WolfheartFPS - Slandered Gaming - Big Dan Gaming - Legacy Gaming - Day9 TABLETOP COVERAGE / HOBBY GENERALIST - TacticalTortoise / TacticalTortoiseTV - Auspex Tactics - Chapter Master Valrak - Sword N' Steele - Eons of Battle - Hobby Night - Art of War 40K - Broadsword Warming TABLETOP BATTLE REPORTS - Play on Tabletop - Tabletop Tactics - Vanguard Tactics - DiceCheck
+ 1 for winters. Been watching him for years now. Such a lovely calm energy in his battle reports and his guests always seem comfortable and playing the game in a similar spirit to him.
I just found “Naturally RP Voiceover”. This guy does voice acting and covers some 40k scenes. I’ve listen to his Ghazghkull monologue on repeat and it still gives me chills.
The Painting Phase is unique because they actually have deep GW insight though Peachy and there guests. I now understand the thinking behind Finecast for example.
Ones that should def' be on here - Rogue Hobbies - All round hobbyist and role model in Louise - Olden Demon - 2nd edition battle reports and GW/40k history, most of all brilliant jokes - Anvil of Doom Miniatures - Old Warhammer painting, basic and yet surprisingly effective. Really nice guy
Shoutout to arbitor Ian for having really well made, consice and entertaining videos about lore and tabletop (mostly heresy or other games than 40k tho) As someone who really enjoys the heresy game his content really helped me understand the game
Seconded. Arbitor Ian is great at summarizing topics in a concise manner. You go to him to get a crash course on an aspect of Warhammer, without setting aside chunks of time in your schedule. There's definitely an art to Getting To The Point.
I think I disagree with Brad a bit whne it comes to "okay to lie to new people to get them in bit and Ian's channel is kinda my reason why. He instead gives the full context, both ingame and out of game, of why something is, and its usually way more engaging than a half remembered meme from someone not familiar with an army.
the mentioned "lore problem" is actually why I like Arbitor Ian specifically, rather than just reading wiki pages and spitballing fan theories he often takes time to discuss real-world context or discusses content from campaign books; i.e. the kind of stuff you don't get from black library, or wouldn't be worth listening to if you did.
Also gives honest takes about the books like his "every horus heresy book in 20 minutes video" is one I've found myself agreeing with almost whole heartedly so I've started using that video as a ranking guide on what books to read and avoid and basically if he gives it 3 stars or higher I'll read it, anything less and its not one I'm gonna get
He's one of the only creators I know who examines Warhammer lore from a publishing history perspective, and not just presents things as "The Lore of [X]". Like his Badab War videos, one for the "latest" rendition of the story, and one for how its story changed and developed over years of publication.
Yeah they kinda sped past him, but his videos are a lot more than I think calling him a Lore channel does. Stuff like the Horus Heresy intro video, where he goes through each editions version of the heresy and how it evolved is useful just from a real world cultural perspective on the game
to the laser airbrush topic that briefly popped up : VERY VERY thin paint (more than you think) and very very low pressure ( let's you get really close to your model without immidiately spider webing ). Also needed is a 0.2mm needle and nozzle. Possibly even smaller if available. Of course you will need some solid control and practise with your gravity fed double action airbrush. I'd say check out the Scalemodeling RU-vid sphere. Nightshift immidiatly comes to mind. =)
Shoutout to Baldemort’s Guide To Warhammer! An incredible voice for lore that often pulls me away from my painting so that I can listen more attentively. I find he’s super underrated, and I hope anyone here that’s interested in lore channels give him a chance.
Just want to shoutout Mr.Bones 40k. He has a fun delivery, and has recently been doing an interesting series on Space Marine successor chapters, highlighting ones people likely haven't heard of.
Some more: The Painting Coach - Taught me a lot when I started painting. Very easy to follow and some very easy recipes. Lyla Mev the Mini Witch has some good product reviews and painting tips, but her personality is a bit brusque. Rogue Hobbies - Louise is a former GW employee and personality is just such a delight, and her painting skills are fantastic. Numbskulls is a lore explanation channel in a similar vein to AdRic, and I really like the dynamic that they have. And the art on the videos is fun and cute. IDICBeer is a channel focused on Necrons. You can take him or leave him but his magnetization tips were helpful on occasion.
One last important shout out: Sergio Calvo Miniatures might be the single best painter Ive seen on RU-vid. He makes me hate painting. I watch his work and i know i will never be that good and it just makes me sad.
Can't believe how far I had to scroll to find someone mention Sergio Calvo. He's like a magician where you think he just screwed up the mini but a few minutes later you realize that you have no idea how to paint. Plus you can see a masterpiece made in 15-30 minutes! And he has some long form (4+ hour) tutorials if you're a masochist.
Shoutout to Eons of Battle. Little doofy but he's a big inspiration to painting for me. I learned about sprue goo, using baking soda and super glue to lock in a pinned miniature, many ways to make cool bases like slime, lava, snow and rain/puddles, his Mixture for Black Templar armor is insanely good for how fast you can apply it which works for any black army in general... so much He also does alot of challenge videos, building terrain, model news updates. He does a bit of everything and I can't recommend them enough
Proxy Hammer is a channel that focuses on Eldar and everything adjacent ( Drukhari, Ynnari, Corsairs etc.). Everything about eldar models units and playstyles is there
Kinda want to mention Baldemort, because since all he does is read the Lore section of Codices and Campaign Book as they're released, that's one less reason to buy those overpriced pieces of paper and avoids all the problem of getting your lore from Reddit. Plus, he has the deep voice of a BBC Narrator and that helps me sleep at night.
Shoutout to Christian von Carmian for you Genestealer/Sister fans. I dont know exactly who asked for a 40k vtuber, but they've got a nice voice, good energy, and if you play those factions they're the best choice out there for learning all the things you can do.
I'm much more of an AoS guy. Here are my thoughts: HeyWoah - I saw a battle report where I witnessed how strong Chaos Chosen are in Slaves to Darkness. I watched his S2D deep dive and fell in love with the faction. I painted my free Vindictor at my local Warhammer store, so I watched HW's Stormcast deep dive and sort of fell in love with the faction. I have watched those two videos and his "Every faction" videos wayyy too many times and they never get old. Season of War - yep, among the best AoS battle reports out there. Top tier production value with a great balance of detail and speed. My recommendations: Battle shock Wargaming - My other favorite AoS battle report team. Still solid production value and they seem to be very competitive players. Stormkeep - Focused on Stormcast, but they do deep dives on just about everything as it comes out. It's just a PowerPoint while a handful of friends analyze everything to death from a competitive perspective. Juan Hidalgo - He attempts to replicate 'eavy metal style. He reminds me a lot of the war hipster but he goes in a little more detail. Don't try to copy him exactly. He will do 5 progressively brighter edge highlights. You only need to do one.
I'm a little late to the party but I gotta recommend Eric's hobby workshop. He's got a lot of terrain building as well as painting and is currently in the process of building a 7 foot tall to scale Imperator-class titan
i felt proud of myself for a second for understanding the plum pudding model reference and then was instantly brought back to reality by brad calling me unemployed
Liam Dempsey is an amazing bat rep channel along with his podcast 40K after dark. They are buddies with the guys from Tabletop Titans and travel to each others studios from time to time for guest appearances. Not for kids
I think the only person I could add to this list of content would be Pete the Wargamer, who I know less for his painting and more for his conversions, kitbashes, and other custom works using things like Milliput and green stuff, and he's got a good vibe to his stuff
One you missed out on (that nobody will ever see me mention) is James Wappel. Absolutely insane oil painter for miniatures. Vince Venturella did an interview with him and respects the hell out of him, if that puts it in perspective.
I came back to this video later after watching some smaller channels lately. Heresy for heretics is a good growing channel, hes known for these synthwave paint schemes and doing these super short sub minute 40k battle reports with just a unit on each side. Mountainside tabletop makes great warcry and killteam content, I barely know how any of GWs games are played yet Im able to keep up with these videos. They have great visuals and a new set each video.
Missed out on creator baldemort. That velvety gold sounding voice does lore, writes his own short stories and you fall asleep to it even though your invested cause of how comforting he sounds. Also war wyvern and vox in the void are fantastic for fan stories while sounding fantastic
French Wargames Studio, which also streams on twitch is awesome, if you speak french. They had more live viewers than the official GW channel during the Warhammer World Championships and they alos cover the WTS (well they mostly follow the french team).
Only 3 that I didn't see that I want to recommend. Baldermort (lore), The War Mistress (gameplay), and Northern Exile (hobby nightmares/ Chad bro content). Hope you guys get to check these channels out
I really like isyander and koda. Its basically adric with different personalities. Both are going to generally make the same memes about the space sharks but with a different delivery and it works
ive seen almost all of The Exploring Series' 40k stuff, I'm pretty new to 40k and so far its been great for me. Short to medium length content thats at least "accurate enough." His style of content is super good for people who are looking for an intro to the basics of 40k, their videos aren't long enough to understand everything about a given faction, but long enough to get the general idea for the universe.
Fantastic list here guys, really comprehensive. Shout out to a few more creators I really enjoy: Darcy Bono Creations (colourful, accessible and beautiful painting guides), My Life in Miniatures (biographical podcast interviewing prominent hobbyists) and Winters SEO (fun and entertaining 40k bat reps)
Highly recommend Miscast. He does a very wide range of general hobbying stuff from building terrain to casting models to making his own tabletop rpg, and he's really good at kitbashing. His wholesome demeanor and out of the box creativity never fails to inspire. And it's entertaining,
It's so funny that when it came to painting, I immediately gravitated toward the quick shit that would get an army playable quickly. I'm really knowledgeable for never having assembled a mini, much less painted one
I've become a huge fan of Mr. Bones 40k found at www.youtube.com/@TheBoneZone40k He mostly focuses on lore and is quite funny. He usually focuses on short lore bits rather than big video essays.
I just realised they got rid of the little circle above brad’s avatar arms and between his staff. This might have been like this for ages but I can’t be assed to check. I am so unbelievably conflicted on this, as it it both amazing as it means it looks professional (professional in my Poorhammer podcast? Never!) but it was also nice to watch it and when it disappears you knew he was talking about the 9th edition demon codex.
As someone who is starting to dip my toes into kill team (hopefully one day 40k as well), the channels not mentioned that helped me get the push forward" Tabletop minions for hobbying Empire of wargames for Generalists Tabletop warbands for gameplay Glass Half Dead for a generic array of most things
My shoutout for the Niche/Podcast category would be Sister Act 40k for any and all Adepta Sororitas enthusiasts, lovely balance between tactics, hobby and lore.
Tabletop Time is a pretty fun channel, they do painting, sculpting, some wargaming, some rpgs. It's just a great variety channel. Also WinterSEO, haven't really watched his content since the end-ish of 9th, but he has a pretty nice backlog, it got me into 40k anyway
53:00 hey, I immediately recognized the plum pudding model and my friendship w/ a physicist who has a burning hatred for niels bohr is unrelated to my employment status.
Did i miss you not mentioning miniwargaming. Reasons you should watch, daily content. 40k, aos, narrative campaigns out the wazoo. Boards loaded with terrain. Great guys to actually talk too. You can play them on theyre channel at the bunker. They cover smaller rules sets as well, and they have been doing Warhammer Fantasy battle project for a long while so if you want your old world fix its there. Like theyre custom scenarios? Free rules pdfs. Bunch of good guys making quality xanadian content, and as a fun fact, the patreon we now all are aware of was developed pre patreon by Matt from miniwargaming through the miniwargaming vault
I came here expecting Baldemort, our faithful servant, to be lauded and praised as one of the peaks of 40k lore, and he wasn't even mentioned! How is it that so few know of his amazing content?! Every Warhammer 40k fan who takes any interest in the lore should have Baldemort on at all times! I am on the verge of declaring this venture to be heretical for him not being included! 😂 When I was introduced to 40k, he was the first person I ever watched. It was a bit of a stumble, getting into his content as a jumping off point, but now that I'm a more dedicated fan thanks to Bricky and Adeptus Ridiculous, Baldemort is absolutely 100% the top content creator for selling the tone and setting of 40k. A lot of other channels are happy and peppy when talking about the lore (which is perfect for getting into the hobby and having fun), but Baldemort actually conveys the grimdark setting with appropriate gravity. I haven't seen anyone else take the lore more seriously than our Baldemort! For those who know his videos, I'd like to make reference to my favorite video of his that truly made me emotionally invested in the whole setting of 40k: *How could he?*
I will add some choices for Warhammer The Old World since that is coming out soon and Fantasy is coming: - Square Based Podcast - great for analysis of TOW news - Nine Inch Charge - also good analysis of TOW news - Jordan Sorcery - he is basically making a video tome all of Games Workshop's and Warhammer Fantasy's history. Absolutely a gem. - Painting Phase - his podcasts and talk about GW history is fantastic. Also some fun painting videos. Even has some small about of Historicals content. - Dr. Luke Blaxill - Fantasy discussion and news from an oldhammer perspective. Very punk. - The Great Book of Grudges - Mix of Fantasy, TOW, and Total Warhammer coverage. - PancreasNoWork - he was shouted out in the show I will +1 him for lore for lore of 40K, AoS, and Fantasy.
Guys. Occulus Imperia. Such good lore videos. I'm very very new to the 40K RU-vid world, haven't played tabletop since 3rd edition. Glad I found your channel
I want to shoutout: @ChristianVonCarmian40kVtuber for Sisters & Genestealers content. @IDICBeer for Necrons. @Senasuke for painting in general (she has also done some 40k paintings) @ArtofWar40k for gameplay @miniwargaming for gameplay
I have recommended poorhammer episodes that are crunchy. Zorpazorp - I like the mega builds he makes. There are so many things he does in them. Arch - he is good at bridging different lore to logically explain how parts of the 40k universe operate. EBay Rescue - mostly I like the before and after. Adeptus Ridiculous is just about bringing out the true joking side of 40k. I know some get up tight when anyone hint that for 40k is anything but grime dark.
By the way, other great wh40k lore channels (aside from Bricky and Luetin) I recommend are: - Isyander and Koda - Arbitor Ian - Occulus Imperia - Janovich - Weshamner - Baldermort - 3HuntLeo
You guys were the first Warhammer 40K channel I subscribed to. I haven't heard of many of these channels. Can't believe you guys didn't "(let's) get into this" with Major Kill. He is my 2nd favorite 40K channel.
Very nice, i have watched 7 and an subscribed to 3 I would recommend chrono the harlequins for lore and interesting consents (and german mines) Valrak for rumours and insanity on Fridays Astartes anonymous for a very nice podcast Kioath tv for, im not sure And 40k theoris Edit, i forgot live from the black library,, it's cronos chanel , he has a nice Collab with pancreasnowork
Big shout out to Book of Choyer. He did great old world videos I would watch while playing total Warhammer 2 all the time, and he’s moving to cover more things now that I haven’t watched but the VAs he hires give great atomosphere
Next Level Painting is a phenomenal painter to watch. He is usually on Twitch but has recently started streaming on RU-vid and Instagram as well. He is a massive advocate for airbrush and Pro Acryl paints.
I love this and hope anyone receiving that compliment understands what an honor it is. The amount of times in my life I've typed this in to relearn blender for a quick project is astonishing.
For the terrain building section you need to include Paepercuts. His videos are incredible at making natural terrain. EDIT: Also Mel the Terrain Tutor is fantastic!
Excellent video boys, you guys nailed it. As a perpetual "just getting back into the hobby" hobbyist, I picked up a couple new creators to check out and you guys confirmed most of the ones I have been digging for years. For real.. Jon's thumbnails don't compare to the awesome content and All Hail Vincy V!! Doug @ 2+ Tough is outstanding, I won some of his Nighthaunt stuff off ebay years ago..... It may or may not be painted yet. Enjoy the break homies.
A few that I really like Squidmar Miniatures - Great videos with a large selection of different hobby related stuff including amazing dioramas Stahly (Tale of Painters) - Reviews almost every paint and has swatches of each colour to see what they're like for yourself Trovarion Miniatures - Multi golden deamon winnner with lots of videos showing how to do different styles Mavericks Paint - Has a briliant show called "plastic surgery" and the music choices are always amazing
Youve got me once you come back, no worries there. This has been a big reason I actually leaned into the hobby instead of just dipping a toe in, thanks guys!
Yo thank you guys so much for the shout-out! Means a lot that you guys go out of your way to highlight smaller creators in the space. Horde Mode is a ton of fun and we'll be revisiting it here soon!
@@blamberton7893 We did a live stream back when Horde Mode first came out. We're going to be doing another one in January to celebrate hitting 1,000 subs 😄
And I reposted the link into the discord the day of. Was surprised at the quality of it, turned out good. :) Maybe see a doctor about that obsession about the whirlwind though. :p
#blessed Thanks so much for the kind words guys and for putting this awesome video together showcasing all these creators, to even have us in the mix with such esteemed company is mind boggling! Really means a lot to us both as we are also fans of the podcast! Much love xoxox
Paul is bad at stuff, is a wonderful new channel he makes lots of fun jokes at his own expense. And uses his channel to get people motivated to paint! So funny definitely needs more people checking him out!
Wow, I always thought they looked absolutely amazing. I just remembered thinking of them as the "Epic thumbnail guys with a mismatched name." But I guess it did take a bit for me to click on a video.
For lore, "Isyander & Koda" are also really fun. They're relatively new, and do go more for the AdRic quick take style, but in my opinion they are incredibly funny while staying in the mentioned "accurate enough".
