wouldn't it be hilarious that all three armory raids had the _same_ survivor imagine the big boys kicking down the door the third time "fuck sake not again!"
As for the Blood Ravens being Magpies well desperate times called for desperate measures; the era in which stealing everything useful that wasn't nailed down was a trying time and much of that was some of their own relics that had been stolen including 5 full suits of terminator armor being held in the local hive world governor's personal collection. The Blood Ravens had recently had several of their recruiting worlds destroyed, their numbers in half their companies battered by crisis after crisis (along with the Dark Crusade on Kronos) and the other half almost totally annihilated by the Buffoonish Captain Boreal. Then their home subsector gets ravaged by a Tyrranid splinter fleet and proto Ork Waaagh along with constant meddling and harassment by Eldar of Craftworld Uthwe (who in their typical meddlesome fashon were responsible for the Orks and Nids showing up at the Blood Ravens doorstep due to their meddling, at least Biel-Tan will stab you in the front) with nothing but a strike cruiser and a couple escorts with a few dozen marines, several veteran sergeant (though admittedly some were very experienced) and a freshly minted captain to stop them and succeeded against all odds. After having what was left having their asses hauled out of the fire by the perfect timing of the 3rd company they had to contend with a chaos incursion summoned by the untrustworthy Govenor including many Chaos Marines and daemons along with Eliphas "Why won't you Fucking stay dead?" The Inheritor. Then after stacking the corpses of aforementioned Marines and Daemons like cordwood and unfortunately confronting and killing one of their own sergeants turned traitor they destroyed the physical form of the Great Unclean One Ulkair only to find out that their own chapter master had turned traitor centuries ago and had likely masterminded all of their great misfortunes to that point. Then after apparently attracting the Ire of Abbadon himself the Blood Ravens were locked in a bitter stalemate for a decade they finally pushed out their enemies (at the beckoning of an inquisitor with a mini crusade of imperial guard) and in the process went to war with traitor elements of their own chapter (and won) and discovered their Chapter Master had been consorting with a particular Greater Daemon of Khorn (who is atypically a singularly patient and scheming example of a Khornate servant) that had set all of this into motion. The Blood Ravens finally defeat their partially ascended Daemon Prince Chapter Master (how a Greater Daemon is able to do this to someone without their patrons direct involvement and multiple times at that is beyond me) and not only survive but stayed loyal, are not found wanting by the inquisition nor being disbanded due to critically short numbers or sent on a penitent crusade but allowed to rebuild with a new Commander at the helm. Many other Chapters could look to the Blood Ravens as a shining example of unrelenting tenacity in the face of impossible odds. All of which was in the span of around 20 years an undoubtedly shitty 2 decades at that, I think stealing some shit is small fucking potatoes compared to that.
You forget one detail; many of the items from other chapters are said too have been in the blood ravens' possession long before the events of Dawn of War. In addition, nothing explains how the actual fuck they got Custodes gear. The Imperial Fists are a founding chapter that guards the most holy planet in the galaxy, the very planet the Custodes are stationed on, and _they_ don't get Custodes gear.
Nicholas Knudson Custodes during that time are rarely sent out to do something. Usually if a Custodes is sent out, the Emperor is in mortal danger. So as a token of appreciation for their cooperation, a particular Custodes provided the weapon to the Blood Ravens.
A Random Crusader - Can confirm, I am a Techmarine of the Space Poles. My Battle Brothers bring me many relic of old technology. I recently received something called a "Walkman". As far as I can ascertain it neither walks nor is a man, but it does seem to be some manner of portable vox.
tbh given their fondness for finding chaos artifacts it's kinda surprising the inquisition didn't just turn them into a scouting force for the ordo malleus maybe with a significant number of inquisitorial agents integrated within just to make sure they stay on the straight and narrow
Just remember when the blood ravens are around even if its bolted down to the frame work of your battlebarge its still not safe from their glorious thieving hands.
And THAT is why I've Sauron'd my shit to high hell. Any jackass decides to take my stuff, it's going to do its dead-level best to make their lives hell and get back to me. You ever see the look on an Inquisitor's face when he chops off his own leg with a chain-axe for 'no apparent reason'? Now _that shit_ is priceless. Also makes resurrection a hell of a lot easier when you have over a thousand anchors to work with. Think the difference between a thousand years of constant migraines or a morning hangover.
The newest novel of alpha legion (sons of the hydra) actually have a sorcerer from relictors chapter with heretical tendency to grab some unholy chaos artefacts acting as a member of alpha legion.
Fulgrim would be kind of enviously pissed that somehow these normie Space Marines somehow acquired a ton of Chaos weapons without falling prey to daemonic influence whereas he, a freakin Primarch, got screwed over after acquiring just ONE.
Oh. I thought a blade containing the essence of a Greater Daemon was more or less on the same level as what latched onto Fulgrim. I mean, aren't they supposed to be the scariest warp-born nasties besides the Chaos Gods themselves?..........Unless maybe Fulgrim's consisted of a whole conglomeration of them fused together.
It's possible that the greater daemon's preferred chaos god makes a difference. As in a greater daemon that pays respect to Khorne would have a less active interest in corrupting their wielder as long as they were used regularly.
@@Drake00075 My money is on it being Slaaneshi in nature, given his current patronage, and the fact that Keepers of Secrets are known to fuck up entire Craftworlds and planets by themselves.
SandTrout true, and untrue at the same time... as « redeemed » is the imperial term for « actually loyal soldiers accused of heresy or being traitor proving those accusations wrong by giving their lives on a suicide (and actually pointless) mission for the imperium »
@@Fayheurblode Being redeemed in the Imperium’s eyes is simply taking whatever punishment they deem horrid enough and basically telling them they were right. And they wonder why so many people turn to chaos.
I like to think of the stuff the Blood Ravens got in DoW2 as developers being lazy and not bothering coming up with names so they just took names from other chapters and used it on the items you find.
I’ve been a Relictors chapter player since I started in 5th edition. I’m not gonna lie I mainly chose them because they looked easy to paint. After about a week of painting them I looked up as much of their lore as was available at the time and I feel in love with how they are not perfect. It made them feel more understanding that they’d break rules for the mission at hand and are becoming corrupted as anyone in a powerful position would.
Hey pal, love the videos, whenever I've got a bit of spare time and nothing else new to watch I throw on one of your videos, even tho I've watched them a million times. Anyway I'd like to make a request, can you cover the months of shame, the time after the first war for armageddon. I absolutely loved how you presented those wars and feel like that part is the last piece of the jigsaw to complete the story. Lastly you need to look at the new fan film "death of hope" chapter master valrak is voicing an Imperial Fist in it and it looks brilliant, I think you should make your audience aware of it so we can support it, just search for the trailer on RU-vid. Anyway keep up the good work pal
Huh. You do that too? Here I thought I was weird. I discovered this channel (and 40K lore in general) through a random video that popped up in autoplay while I was watching other content about fictional civilizations and such. Nice to listen to something to clear your mind while you try to fall asleep, and I have tinnitus (ringing in the ears) really bad so it's difficult for me to fall asleep without playing some sort of sound to drown out the 'HNNNNNG!!!' noise. I've never played any of the 40K games (video games or tabletop stuff) or read any of the books. But I ended up finding it interesting and at this point I feel I've listened to about 90% of the quality 40K lore videos that exist hehe. By now I feel I know pretty much every major lore point and chapter and race and important battle or event in this universe and I've never touched the official WH40K stuff - could write a mini encyclopedia on it thanks to this stuff! So anyway, not only in this channel interesting, but it's genuinely helpful for those of us with restless minds or who have other reasons that require they play some sort of audio to help them fall asleep. =)
Ohnonono Sargon, the Blood Ravens FIND things, or get gifts! Steal? Nonono, they don’t do any of THAT! Btw, can we get a Blood Raven Chapter lore video, please?!
You could have a mixed chapter if all of the genseed for making a marine comes from a single marine. If founding members of a chapter where drawn from different legion stock then you would have various members each purely decended from a different primarch. Much like how a regiment can be amalgamated. Why you would do this is beyond me as different genseed has different characteristics and this would complecate your recruitment and medical needs. Who wants to deel with the canis helix, the black rage and the Dornite stick up the arse? Not me.
CHAOS is to Chaotic to control... Relictors are still active, Brother Techmarine Torqhuil was an ally of Lord Inquisitor Bronislaw Czevak(Atlas Infernal)
So in a sense, the Relictors are basically a more sane version of the Dark Angels. Doing a lot of shifty business, intentional or otherwise, but they don't get away with it.
Honestly, the Beast Arises were some of my favorite Arch lore videos (third only to the War for Armageddon and the Horus Heresy ones). Really would like to hear more on the novel series.
I like the idea of a rogue inquisitor using them for his own ends, but i agree that the basic story needs a rewrite; even space marines arent naive enough to think that they can just attack another imperial organization, particularly the inquisition, with impunity. The way i'd probably write the story would be that, as the Fire Claws starting out, they knew what they were being asked to do was wrong, but thought doing so would benefit the Imperium in the end. Even so, they didnt want to make it obvious it was them that attacked the inquisition, so they spray painted some of their armor and ships, operating under the guise of the Relictors as a cover. They would leave a guy alive to tell the Imperium it was the Relictors who attacked them, but since nobody had ever heard of this chapter before it wouldve been harder to make the connection with the Fire Claws. Eventually, though, they knew they'd be caught out, but they still believed their methodology was an effective one and wanted to continue it, so they made a deal with the inquisition when it showed up, handing over the rogue inquisitor and most of their chaos weapons in exchange for some being 'misplaced due to clerical error', or some such bs. I think that'd make a much better story.
So, let's compare swords with pebbles and see if i get this one right... A power sword is like a pebble, that when thrown at someone, hits with the equivalent force of brick. A greater demonic sword is a pebble that will make the individual instantly catch fire, explode and melt, though not necessarily in that order. ... And the black blade is the unstable thermonuclear god-pebble, instantly exploding in the near proximity of the target, with the equivalent force of a 70 gigaton nuclear warhead... So... ... Stay away from Black Blade. I think i got it. o_o
Please, Arch. Do one about the Squats and their Armory. One mind syndicate, 40k Theories, and Vaults of Terra have already covered them. You're the only one left who hasn't covered them.
I agree with lord boofhead. Arch would talk about them in his own way rather than reading directly from the lexicanum or the wiki, while also providing his opinion on the bearded little guy's lore and armory. It would be fun and interesting to listen on his take on the Squats. Also some of their kit is unique, like the Mole Mortar that shoots essentially land torpedoes into the ground that dig their way to the enemy, pop up, and explode.
CAME here after listening to heart of decay for 4.75 for half an hour and it was really good featuring the relictors and a captured member of the death guard who else has listend to it
I don't think they ever meant that the Relictors were Genetically both Dark Angels and Ultramarines but culturally they have aspects of being mostly codex complaint but having an "inner circle" formation of brothers who are aware of the Chapter's "unusual habits"
I love your Warhammer 40k lore video. You can learn something and laugh a little. Chaos lore is my favourite. Dear Arch, could you make video about Crimson Slaughter Renegede Space Marine Chapter cause they're insane :D
I would love to hear your thoughts on the early Rogue Trader books, era and fluff/lore - with a focus on the lesser xeno races and what happened to them since/are they still cannon. I for one loved the weird style and some of the races *cough*saharduin*cough* back then and would love to see them gaining a new chance at flourishing now with the warpstorm ripping the imperium in half.
Ironically one of the powers associated with Daemon Weapons is Daemonbane which means the Daemon inside is so jealous of other daemons that the Daemon weapon is super effective against Daemons.
I think their next logical move should be to make a infiltration of a inquisitorial artifacts vault, and subsequently performing an assault on it. All inquisition, and related personnel are deemed expendable, no lives left within the vault upon the Relictors leaving. And just to ya know spice things up, we'll say one Inquisitor barely is able to cling to life after the massacre, and is able to finger the relictors... It's PERFECT!! GW, greenlight this story direction post haste!
40k Theories even went over their insane vehicles, like the Leviathan, Colossus, and the Cyclops. They even have a mortar that shoots a land torpedo that burrows through the ground towards the enemy.
Relictors and Blood Magpies are the 2 most interesting chapters. the way they skirt heresy makes them so good for narratives than the goody goody chapters.
5:00 I mean technically you could have a hybrid chapter, provided you're very careful to not mix the organs from different gene-seeds. It would require the kind of care for ancestry that would put Mormons to shame, though.
Use the demon sword to make a super armor piercing shell for whatever large gun you happen to have on hand. You don't even have to melt it down. Just make a sabot for it and kablamo it at the enemy's tanks or titans or small grumbly mascots
