Note that Warhammer players outside the US exist and a lot of them want the lieutenant Titus from the board game. So flipping that can turn it into an even greater value
Ive been so close to starting a Tyranid army, Im a new player who has painted Guard and GSC and just LOVE the models for Tyranids and how horde armies operate....my wallet is crying as I am watching this lmao
Buy a leviathan box Buy a christmas box Buy a broodlord online for those genestealers Get a 3d printed hive tyrant torso so you can build both a walking and a flying hive tyrant from the christmas box Enjoy
I got two Leviathan halves. The first one from the box I bought at my local game store, the second one I got for equivalent of 65 usd (75 usd with freight)
Got into the hobby like 2 minths ago and I'm collecting nids. Currently looking for the ladt 2 models that i really want: a maleceptor and sn exocrine, sadly they are next to impossible to rn.
You can totally swap the exocrine with tyrannofex. Having talked with some prominany players theu are strongly considering tyrannofex at its current points
id personally do the flyrant with scything talons. remember that it still has the foot talons, which have the same profile as scytals, which have extra attacks. with the bonesword, yes you have better ap and damage, but 10th heavily favours volume of attacks rather than low volume high ap attacks
I personally have found the opposite, where high quality attacks are better. Yes you don't want 1 attack, but you don't want to have pure horde killing. Besides there are plenty of other units in the lists that can do those roles
If you want both armies then buying 2 leviathan boxes isn't terrible. It's almost 2 full armies for sub $500. It's a great way to start but you will have quite a few duplicates you might not want im your army in the long term. With that said you are getting so much plastic that even if you only care for 2/3s of the box on either side it's still value.
Yes. There are a couple of small things that have gained value, but nothing on here is bad. You might consider wanting to pick up more synaptic creatures as they received a HUGE boost that helps out the entire army, but other than that you can follow this and find success.
Thanks so much for the quick reply! I have bought the starter set a few weeks back, and I'm trying to build an unending swarm list. I have also found a good deal for a leviathan box. How would you adapt the buying order for unending swarm if there would be the option to have a leviathan box as part of it? Would you recommend going that route or is the starter set straightup better for unending swarm? @@Speeds_Gaming_Corner
I would start by picking up a hive tyrant and seeing how you like the feel of the army. If you like the smaller bugs keep going down that unending swarm style and if you like the bigger bugs more go down a path with more of them. The leviathan box is a solid middle of the road option.
Thanks! I would also be interested in space wolves to collect as a side army, just for fun, but I'm not quite sure how space marine chapters work yet... can I use my marines from the starter set (or the leviathan, if I choose to buy it) as a basis for a space wolves army?@@Speeds_Gaming_Corner
I made some timely purchases and got myself a LEVIATHAN Box and Christmas Battle Box, that along with a Start Collecting Box from a few years back and some unused 20-year-old Genestealers and Termagants from 4th Edition Starter has given me a nice swarm for 10th Edition 40K and other games.
love tyranids, it was my dream army 20 years ago. Saw the Video and drove to my local hobby store and bought the starter set. Couldnt resist...will be a fun weekend :)
@@Speeds_Gaming_Corner Finding them ? are they rare ? i think i saw them in every store that sells 40k :D . Thinking about getting a leviathan or ultimate starter set too
I got 2 leviathan boxes, 1 as a gift And a christmas box Bought 2 tervigon/tyrannofex boxes And an extra hive tyrant box A parasite of mortrex And a neurolictor Spent 630$ and have 3500+ points
A point about target that can also save you some money around every three months that have a buy 2 get 1 free sale on board games or a buy 1 get 1 1/2 off sale.
I managed to find a copy of the leviathan box this January in a local game shop that doesn’t have a consistent Warhammer community. I picked up a starter box before because I didn’t think I would ever find it, so now I have so many of the new terminators to mess around with painting its great
This video is really great. If you end up creating a space marine themed video would you mind having a section in there that builds off of the same starter sets? Ending up with 1100 points of a terminator heavy SM list just by happy accident I feel would be a great base to build off.
I second this. I found a copy of Leviathan to start playing 40k and plan on making sure I have at least 1000 points for both forces with some options to make sure.
On the Termagaunts from the boardgame: the models are the same you get from the "regular" box of ten, just without the sprue for additional weapons. All those weapons are on one sprue, which gets added to the regular monopose gaunt sprues. Decide for yourself if that weapon sprue is worth it: 30€ for a unique Marine and 20 Termagaunts without weapons, or 70€ for 20 of the bugs with weapons and no Marine. 'tis a tough choice...
As always, an excellent video! It's interesting to see you take on a Codex army with varied detachments. You already have a lot of variety in these videos but I guess that just makes it easier. I'm pretty interested in the Synaptic Nexus detachment, which didn't get a spotlight in your video, but do you have a basic sketch of what one would buy for a 500-1000 point army on a budget for that detachment?
I would try very hard to get my hands on a leviathan box for the neurotyrant. Failing that I would grab a starter set because termagants aren't terrible for it, just not the best choice and it would get you towards that direction. Past that I would get a norn emissary and a maleceptor. Maybe a neurolictor. Your army wants Zoanthropes, but they're probably a later pick up as they're more pricey points per dollar than the bigger monsters
So I have leviathan, plus 20 extra termagaunts, norn emissary, death leaper, 1 lictor, 1 nurolictor. I have no idea what I’m doing lol. I’m like between your first 2 lists. Do you have a recommended hybrid with the new updates? I assume I need a couple of good big gun bugs and a hive tyrant. What else would be worth it? Ideally I want to use the norn and all three lictors as they were my favorite paint jobs.
The tyrannofex got a huge buff recently and is looking great for tank killing. I really like the look of 6 zoanthropes with a Neurotyrant. If you really want to run a norn I suggest synaptic nexus. It got some very awesome changes. Since synapse adds +1 strength to some much stuff it makes hormagaunts much better in the detachment as S3 -> S4 is one of the best breakpoints in the game with all the T3, T4, T6, and T7/T8 bodies that you get +1 to wound against.
@@kylegwyn4172 I'd start with sidelining the screamer killer, although it might be good with the new strength boost. Probably cut the neurogaunts (I don't like them in general) and cut the barbgaunts.
I don't play nids so I can't say for sure if it's good, just an idea I think is worth looking into. If you have tabletop simulator I'd suggest trying out a lost with 2 units of 20 or 4 units of 10 and see how it feels. If you don't have tabletop simulator you can look at how to install it on my channel.
Great guide! I recently started Warhammer 40k last December. Your great videos has been really helpful! I've already started like 5 armies because of them. Just a question, with the points changed with the recent dataslate. I am trying to build your 2k Invasion Fleet List and by adding in the Norn Emissary. The list goes over 2000 by 65 points. What should I take out or replace?
Why are the damn toxicrene / maleceptor so hard to find? Same with the exocrene. I wish I saw this video a week ago I would know what I need to get exactly instead of buying random stuff. Very informative video I just subscribed.
That's the nature of 40k. As soon as something is good its out of stock because of meta chasing. There are other great options you can opt for if you want a more shooting style. 2x Tyrannofex is not too shabby.
@@Speeds_Gaming_Corner i got beaten the living sh**t Out of me for the past half year.... Last Game wanted me to quit the hobby... But still here I am. On the other hand, I'vr got myself into other systems that are cheaper and have alternating acrivations (Bolt Action, A Song of Ice and Fire).
@dariostabletopminatures I did not win a game for my first year of playing. 1 year after that I went 5-0 in a competitive heat against some really solid players. Growth is hard in this game. It's hard to take those losses on the chin, but taking every game as a chance to learn what you can do better is everything in this game.
@@Speeds_Gaming_Corner yeah....thats what I am feeling too. All the stomping got me to a Rocky 4 Level. Now I am ready to beat them all! That was the mindset all along. Same for Bolt Action. I took it on the chin for the first year. Now I can dish out the pain hahhaa.
Zoanthropes are good in most lists (especially synaptic nexus). They were not included here because they are very expensive to field. If I had done e synaptic nexus I would try to find a way to fit 12 thropes and 2 norn emissary
ty for awser. current only got about 1k points total getting there slowly. saw some other lists would you bring 2 zoan and 1 Neurothrope or just 3 zoan ?@@Speeds_Gaming_Corner
@@matimamo I would have to look more into it, but gut reaction is bringing 2x6 zoanthropes at 2k. In a 1k game you usually just want more firepower, so probably 1x3 zoan
As someone getting back into 40k with this edition with space marines, the starter set and board game are things I had not considered using to build tyranids as a second army from the Leviathan box set. The extra terminators and Infernus marines are just bonus at that point. Could also offset some of the cost by selling the extra captains and lieutenants from the extra boxes.
