In the video you said on the nmm gold you started with xv-88 then Baylor brown. I would have thought you would start dark and work light. Maybe you just misspoke. I'm genuinely curious because I'm trying to get a handle on nmm.
One day I hope that I may be able to get you to paint one of my warhammer figures, it would absolutely be an honor! I’m new to the hobby and love it already but lack the tools to properly paint my figures at the current moment. Having a mini painted by you would be amazing, not only to use as a playable piece but a conversation piece, your work is amazing and I appreciate the time you put into making these videos because I enjoy them very much and find them very helpful! @maverickspaint
Man I've been watching you stuff since day 1 you came out of nowhere with the best gory paint jobs. I see your stuff pop up all over the place. Epically the space marine with the convertible treatment 😂 my name on here used to be Clay P. I'm digging the longer format. I know this is 9 months old but I really hope you got threw covid alright. I had it 3 times last year. Every time with different symptoms.
Now you just need to copy this painting guide on the another 2000pts of minis, and you'll be set to play the game 😆😆😆 That's a great mini; thanks for sharing it with us. 👍
@@MaverickNicolson I'm waiting to be able to afford it but same I knew about the books and lore you got me into minis and I just wanna paint like you idc about tabel top stats I've never done it once. I can't wait to start and upload a video of my first I'ma use your tips
@@MaverickNicolson as I subscribed and watched starter box video i am REALLY considering doing exactly the same as Pisal. Only thing blocking me is that I already bought 1:18 figure and I have to wait for next month to not spend too much money lol!
Killer production value, great editing, awesome painting, and a fantastic concept you have discovered with Plastic Surgery. I would watch this series for decades. Every mini tells a story! Thanks for sharing this Maverick, I am a huge fan! 🔥🔥🔥
Your humility is what makes you great, you were able to recognize your short comings and continue to press forward, this what allows us to improve. Continue to Slay the day🔥
French guy here 👋 Just wanted to say that your videos are the reason I started painting my old miniatures again, so, thank you ! You’re such a source of inspiration that I showed your shorts to all my friends, and now they want to join my painting sessions too 😆 I hope you’ll continue to make quality content like that !
I really thank you for all the efforts you put into painting, editing and advicing us with a lot of precious tricks, this new long format is the best ever created. Please keep up the superb work!! 🙏
Man... hands down, you are one of my favourite content creators when it comes to minis. I've found your painting style very appealing, and I'm glad you are lean towards creating longer tutorial-like videos. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge and work with us! Keep it grim!
@@MaverickNicolson Yeah I find when I am going from black to yellow, white, red, pink etc that I look for something that will aid in the shading process. Take out a layer to get to the highlight by adding one back in the shading process. A shortcut. For example, I want yellow so I start with browns, I want pink so I start with creams. I want white I start with a cream/grey. this also then becomes my glaze later on when I highlight to bring the shades back and smooth out the transition. This waffling aside I really like what you do here. Cant wait to see more.
Wow!!!! That black templar is amazing!!!! Love the new format of the videos 🥳 and also the shouts to your inspirations like Jose Da Vinci!!! Thanks for making these videos 🙏
Great stuff!! Back in the old days we used pine sol to strip painted models, but I think that melts or softens most plastics today. And yes, I agree the original paint job was amazing.
I'm currently waiting for my first ever minis and paints to be delivered today (UPS takes SO LONG ;-; ). I've never been artsy in any form, but I think mini painting could be up my alley and it's 100% because of this channel.
dude, its such a good hobby. Youre gonna struggle at first but honestly, just remember that the best part of the hobby is that every single model is going to look better than the last. That constant progress is pure dopamine.
I just started painting some WorldEaters and Thousand sons. I struggled a lot but when I watched this video it really did help. I know this vid is about a Black Templar and not you know WorldEaters or Thousand Sons. But this video really did help a lot, I watched over the video a bunch of times just to see how I should or can improve on my Models. I started about a few weeks ago, I really have noticed a difference. I absolutely LOVE to paint these figures and just watching these videos makes me want to paint them Even More I swear! Great job with the paints, I know I definitely couldn’t paint something as good as you do for quite awhile.
Oh Man! I've just been diagnosed with chronic depression & anxiety 5:11 and turned to warhammer40k to do something with my hands and get away from the screens of my desk job. I'm so new to #warhammer40k and you @mavericks paints are one of the key influences I look up to so I can create my first army 💜🎉
I started following your insta ages ago just for the brutal minis and now I find an awesome dude that makes badass minis and makes me glad to be part of the warhammer community.
Thank you for the longer and more in depth videos. I've been implementing a lot of your style into my new Adepta Sororitas army lately because it just looks so good.
Dear Sir, your technique is amazing and you have helped me a lot on this new journey of Warhammer (began 2 months ago) Thank you so much! When I'm older i wanna paint like you ❤
Holy hell that's good! With the shorts the models look really good but actually getting to see it come together is amazing. It's actually quite theraputic, I love watching the colours slowly come together on a blank base coat, like the model is coming alive. The music is killer too, really nice match for the vibe of the channel
I love your painting method of going piece by piece and being as careful as possible, it’s almost meditative. It shows a serious amount of respect for your work and I’m sure the when Matt gets this model back he’s going to be blown away.
Mavericks Paint, along with eBay Miniature Rescue, are the real 4th Emergency Service. The pixel-grafix on this channel are wonderful. For me, Black Templars, Sisters of Battle and the Inquisition are the twisted soul of the Grim Dark; and John Blanche is one of our greatest tour guides. The rule book for the Inquisition game is peak 40k ("Everything you have been told is a lie!" sums up my vision of the 40k setting). The point on the brush in this video is amazing. Great control. All the best with getting over the dreaded COVID.
You're becoming one of my fav mini painting channels duder. Great job on that Templar. Also glad to see you kicked covids butt. I lost my sense of smell for 3 weeks after i got it, had weird random aches and pains for weeks aftertoo, this was back in 2021.
You're the sole reason i strife to get better at painting. Looking at your painting approach leaves me completely in awe of your talent. Please do more Long Videos and Tutorials. Can't wait for a long NMM Tutorial. Thx for you being you in the grimdark future that is W40K. Simping done, gotta get back to painting.
Dude! You’re amazing! You have many fans and some of your work is inspiration for a diorama I’m planning and hoping to enter at Adepticon next year (hope, but we’ll see).
I use methylated spirts to strip models as it's water based it does absolutely no damage to plastic. Left over night every bit of paint comes off straight away, it's also excellent for cleaning brushes.
YES. A black Templar finally!!!!! I purchased a castelan from EBay painted kinda of similar to the original design just so I had a “decently painted model” to look at for ideas. It’s insane how good this came out.
Hey Maverick I really like your videos and the techniques shown make me get better and better as a beginner in the hobby. I am really excited that you are a "proper youtuber" now and hope that you will provide us with more amazing videos like this one. Never stop dude you are an inspiration.
This videos are so relaxing, Ngl man these Plastic surgery are one of the reasons I got into WH40K, hell I just started reading the Horus Heresy and planning of buying my first set of Salamanders, props from Venezuela
I love your channel and your very unique approach. Also really cool you're doing long form content. Really enjoy both these and the shorts. Keep up the amazing work!
You're actually the whole reason I've been wanting to get better at painting. Your painting just always looks so great. I've been watching your videos and am currently working on a captain messinius model im painting as an imperial fist. I'm hoping to use your streaking grime tutorial to add some depth. It's not coming out great, but im gonna stay at it! Might have to pick up a few more captain messinius models 😂😂😂
Matt seems like me! One of the main reasons I started warhammer was because of the miniature painters and your shorts were one of the first that drew me in!
Just stopped the video the moment I heard you say impostor syndrome. You're an amazing painter, and I absolutely love your videos! You deserver all the praise man
So I did a thing with your gold recipe, and used a glaze of Vallejo Game Color “Sun Yellow”. It made the gold a little more cartoony, and really yellow, but I LOVED that!
I absolutely adore the non-metallic painting art style. I'm currently starting a new black templar army and I really want to be able to do highlights like you do.
Kudos for the color scheme!!! Had me at the second minute ❤❤😂😂 thanks for the video! Btw, great idea showcasing the artworks before starting. It really set the mood and background for the inspiration!
