This is an awesome baler for anyone with a smaller farm or baling for the first time. I know there are cheaper ‘economy’ balers but they form poorly packed less dense bales and are not reliable. This is really a well made baler...I bought one for my nephew last spring and he baled 300 acres this year. We had no issues at all. I baled with my RB4160 which is a far superior baler but if you’re on a budget the 2900 series is the next best thing.
RB4160 is a beast of a baler but not everyone needs the features of it. 2900 Series have been super good machines and I will put the bale quality of the 1745 up against all the others. It's limited in capacity and speed you can bale but makes an amazing tight square shouldered bale. Probably why it's our number one selling Baler. Great Bale for a Great Value. But the RB are the Ultimate Machine but the Ultimate Price too but if you are a big timer baler it's a Professional Machine. Not every customer has those needs but great Massey Ferguson has 3 choices to fit the needs of more customers.
Capacity of the Pickup. 1745 has pickup the width of bale chamber and uses Gathering Wheels. 2900 has wider pickup and rotary stuffer and is higher capacity plus it has the AutoCycle version and more deluxe monitor. 1745 is basic with very simple monitor and only AutoTie.
Yes the 2946A is variable chamber baler from 30" to 72" Bale Diameter. It is set on the 2900 Series in the Monitor what size you want to notified or when AutoTie engaged start wrapping the bale. It's done by selecting the diameter by scrolling up/down to reach the number corresponding to size you want.
