great project! Not exactly what I am doing, however, it gave me some great inspiration for the housing of my project. Subbed and thanks!

I can equate with your frustrations and wrong design. My cnc desktop engraver a lot simpler than yours ie. basic. Having nearly traveled half way, I have CNC built and am sorting electronics. You are a constant companion. Please continue.

hot air rises so shouldn't the fans be the other way around?

I orientated them that way when I had the enclosure laid flat, and hadn't thought about mounting it to the wall. Right below the top fan is the PSU fan which is pull air towards the power supply, and right next to the bottom fan is the main source of heat - the drivers. Plus a fan just above those to blast air onto them / the controller. I should swap them around at some point and add an additional fan. Would be interesting to know how much air those fans are able to shift compared to the amount in the enclosure.

To be honest, up down doesnt matter so much. As long as its forced. It all about geting air flow thru the heat sinks. Fart the rest out. I would chuck a fan on the sink. Leave open hole in the bottom and fan at top to blow out. Convections are weak currents.

I did that over the entire control board / drivers but these big foot drivers don't have half current for idle mode so everything is pretty hot. It seems to be working though. I've made a few cuts now and the cheese hasn't melted everywhere.

Kettle plug! Jesus christ! That's pre EU talk, when cheddar was cheddarrrrrr. Melton mobray was a hair style and champaign was any fizzy wine to get girls of the blue nun and diamond white to see a cornish pasty.

In a serious emergency, which seems looming, I can unplug the frequency drive and make a cup of tea.
