Just ran some Burgess Creek #10's at 40 in my savage 301 with a carlson's 385 choke. 213 and 163 in the densest part of the pattern. Thanks so much for providing real numbers instead of just shooting paper and gabbing about it like some other channels.
My recipe is a 3" Fiocchi hull then add win296 with a TPS wad sprinkle 11/16th oz of #9TSS shot in followed by a nice crimp, Then cook at 325° 15 minutes per pound.. Enjoy.
Bought myself a Stevens model 301 this year. The patterns from the Federal and Appex TSS is amazing. I shoot a Vortex crossfire red dot. 40 yards is a dead bird.
There is nothing wrong with the.410, here in the swamps of New England you rarely get a shot over twenty yards, and it has no problem. Thanks for the video, great information, be well.
I'm shooting a Stevens 301 410 with Patternmaster Code Black .383 and Bushnell 1.75-4 turkey scope. I shoot my own TSS handloads , never bought a factory load TSS. I can handload a shell for around $3.00 instead of $7.00 or $8.00 a shell for factory or custom rounds !
Mossberg 510 bantam modified barrel federal 3 inch tss 9 shot is our go too but we have 9.5 that work awesome and 8s as well. Shooting it with vortex red dot. It's perfect for kids and we've killed turkey out to 30 with it.
I use 410. Stevens model 301 single shot with both apex and federal TSS ammo. I do however use the JEBs choke tube and I have to say 5-40 yards with just the bead no red dot I’ve had no trouble putting gobblers down
@Review This Thing yeah I own 3 12ga and one over under 12ga .223 so I'm good, was going to do the cool kids thing but not now. There is a .410 shell called foxtrot TSS, I think that's supposed to be badass
So far I use a Rossi. Tuffy turkey. Everyone on here uses a stevens. 301 lol. No red dot yet looking for a decent cheap one to try out. So far also using the stock chokes and have tested federal. And Remington loads in it so far at 40 yards looking to get s good aftermarket choke also
I'm using a savage 301 thumbhole with Bushnell trs25 red dot, Carlson choke and apex ninja or my Tristar viper with romeo5 dot Carlson choke federal tss.
I have mossberg 500 410 and SA 410ga. In the tss turkey guns. Both Indian Creek .385 chokes. Ninja 9.5 loads. Both have a reflex red dots. Going to try foxtrot 10's in them. Fixing to get the mossberg SA 28ga turkey gun.
Shoot the federal 9’s in my .410. 9.5’s aren’t legal in the Northeast states I hunt. Super happy with the results to 30-35 yds out of my Tristar cobra 2
@@ReviewThisThing most definitely. Thanks for doing these. Just got a new mossberg sa 20ga got a carlson tss .555 coming in 2 days and the verdict shells are already here. 🔥
Cz teal .410over under. Fixed chokes. Imp cyl and modified. Im good to 45yards with that and herters tss #9. Bottom barrel gets a tss loadn top barrel gets a lead#7.5. With the flip of a switch i can choose how far i want to shoot and how much i want to save if theyre close
Tristar g2 burris ff4 indian creek. 390. At 40yrds 10" 133 was my count. With the federal heavyweight 9s. I think you need to try a different choke. And i wouldn't settle for anything less then 100
I keep hearing a lot of good things about the Tristar. So our circles were actually only 6” circles. That’s part of the reason for the lower numbers. If we used a 10”, I’m sure most of them would be over 100. I do think if we were going to shoot Federals, we would need another choke. We did a video on the Rectifire Spade choke that did amazing with them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bmi0hVj0tlo.html Thanks so much for your input!
@Review This Thing I missed it if you said 6" in the video. I would very interestedin what you wouldhave gotten in a 10". The tristar g2 is virtually the same gun as the mossberg sa410. Built in same Turkish factory. So if you're looking to stay mossberg theme.
I’m using steven’s 301 with vortex venom on a sumtoy base. I ended up going with Nitro custom ammo 385 choke (i think) and their 3” 9x10 loads. It patterns extremely well.
My daughter hunts with a Stevens 301 Turkey 410 with the trulock .385 as well shooting custom loads TSS #10. Was able to bag her 1st bird with this setup last year. Me I’ll stick to my 301 20 ga Turlock .585 choke with Apex small town blends are lights out! Sweet mossberg 500 as well been looking at the new one this year in green leaf.
I shoot the Steven's 301 with a indian creek choke 385 constiction with apex ninjas it's a lights out combo out to 40 I think you can do better with your patterns at 40 with the indian creek or the jebs. I polished my barrel in my 410 and it made a difference in patterns like the videos keep them coming
Nice setup!!! We’re actually getting ready to take the CVA Scout 410 with a Jebs choke this weekend! We’re excited. Stay tuned. Thank you for watching!
@@ReviewThisThing Awsome! I use to carry the mossberg 835 and now went to the 410 and 20 guage it so much more fun to hunt turkey with them and a lot lighter on the shoulder lol looking forward to seeing the video
I did try the stock choke. We’ll show it in the Mossberg review video. The Trulock was definitely better. I’ve got to find this Viper ammo for sure. Thank you.
Ultra magnums, Short action ultra magnums, super short magnums, 300 black out, 6.5 Creedmoor...turkey hunting with a .410. It's the next thing for people to jump on.
I filmed a video with the stick choke a few weeks ago. It did a good job, too. The problem in this video is that the factory loads. Check out this follow up video with the same choke ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CkZYJ16jiJk.htmlsi=rM8r8DcsK4jyysiK
@@ReviewThisThing I am very happy with the patternmaster choke. I believe it is a 0.381 constriction. I won’t venture to say it’s the best as I have not done much testing but it was far superior to the stock turkey choke on the gun as well as significantly better than a primos jellyhead.
It took us a while to collect these. Found the Federals, Fiocchis, and Remington in various stores and then ordered the Verdict and Apex online. I appreciate you watching.
Excellent question! There are A LOT of great options. I’m not sure about that specific gun, but we’ve used the Vortex Venom (did a review), Burris FF2, Leupold Delta Point Pro, Burris FF3, Hawke wide view circle dot and they’re all fantastic. That Hawke Scope is pretty sweet, too.
@@bonestoneoutdooraction2455 yep. If you can hit where you look, a guy(or gal) doesnt need overkill. .410 is plenty adequate for most medium game at reasonable ranges, with brenneke slugsn and can cleanly take all waterfowl with quality ammunition.
I’m shooting savage 301 Turkey- sig sauer Romeo 5, federal tss 3” and I went through 5 shells of my two packs over weekend and was 10” low and to the right I’m not sure if my red dot will come up that much really way off I turned complete 1 round turn total and still only about 2 “ up not sure what to do now ? Any help be appreciated
So, I don’t want to tell you this if you’ve already tried it, so I apologize. But, I’d say to bring it in to 20. Get a huge piece of cardboard. Take your shot. Draw a 6 inch circle around the tightest/main part of the pattern. Then have someone help you. Aim at the exact same spot you aimed at before and have then turn the adjustments until your dot is in the middle of that circle. You just to make sure you stay steady and not move your gun as the dot moves.
@@ReviewThisThing thank you I will try this over the weekend ! I actually have heard of this before and totally forgot so I really appreciate the response I will definitely try this!!
The Apex and Verdict you can order directly online. The others we’ve just found when traveling around looking at pretty much every gun store we come to. I haven’t seen any cheap ones in a long time.
