In this video I get some new pallet forks for the Cormidi C1500 mini skid steer and test them out picking up and dumping totes in to the ‪@SureTracTrailersPage‬ for delivery. I also test out a new method of unloading individual totes for delivery by using the custom log arch on the back of the trailer.

I think if you open the doors, face the ibc opening to the rear, strap or chain the bottom rear corners of the ibc tote to the d-rings on the side walls and put the snatch block on the rear shackle mount of the log arch you might have a winner there. I'm thinking more and more about ways to utilize the totes going forward. Having a slick way to divide deliveries would be sweet! Thanks for the ideas, worth their weight in gold!

With this setup I’m trying to do as little futzing around with straps and chains as possible to make it work. I think if I were to open the doors next time with a short strap and smaller block all the way to the rear it would work better
@casey3766
@casey3766 11 месяцев назад
If you set up the freight liner where you put a divider in the middle of the dump body you can hall potentially up to 6 deliveries in one load but really it would be more like 4 2 in the trailer and 2 in the dump truck
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 11 месяцев назад
Yep I’ve thought about doing that but I use the truck a lot for chips and logs so wouldn’t want anything to interfere with those uses.

Here’s something to think about , get a skid steer plate and fasten some arms on the sides to be able to clamp onto the middle of the totes at the bottom and be able rotate 180°, might be able to use a couple sprockets and a motorcycle chain to rotate the clamps using hydraulic motors to turn the rear sprockets , maybe get some of your fabricating friends to help figure this out .. if you can figure it out it should be less damaging to the tote and faster dumping them .. good luck

Hey Jake, Im glad to see you got another try with an awesome mini-skid. I'm dumping totes with my Vermeer ctx-160. I welded ⅜" chain grab hooks on my fork's frame (right & left side) at an upward 45°. I use 2 pieces of ⅜"x36" chain with slip hooks on the IBC's lower tubes and then lock the chains free end into the grab hooks on the fork frame. I then drive up to (low height trailer) and tip the forks down 90°vertical. Works out great as long as your forks don't pass the tote's bottom 42". If your thing able stacking totes 2x high 🤔 I want to warn you that your totes have been weakend! To much metal tubing has been removed from them. The open fronts will splay open. Ask me how I know this...lol. life in learning lessons. Great job 👍🏻👍🏻

Hey Ron, sounds similar to what I did on my orange set of forks for the tractor. Chain hooks and short chains. I quickly found that by being able to flip the totes completely over I was able to get all the wood out a lot faster rather than having to shake the tote around because that would result in damage to the totes. Most of the recent totes I’ve gotten I haven’t cut!

I think it all went pretty well. I think when dumping the totes in the trailer, set the tote in then back your forks out an just get the tip under the bottom bar. I think you would do less damage to the totes. That is how I do it and it works for me. Hope you get the tree job.

I think if you had opened the doors of the trailer it would have dumped the wood from the tote much easier. Just a thought.
@chrisclark9743
@chrisclark9743 11 месяцев назад
We both thought the doors closed would make sure the tote dumped outside the trailer rather than potentially dumping in the trailer. But definitely an idea worth trying on the next delivery where it’s applicable
@UpTheHarbour
@UpTheHarbour 10 месяцев назад
When dumping from totes from trailer, leave doors open, strap dumping end of tote to trailer, winch like you did, it should roll tote easy
@1squirreldog
@1squirreldog 11 месяцев назад
Very cool . I think if you turned the open cutout of the tote to the rear of the trailer would of helped. But like you did hook as short as poss to maximize the lift then maybe when the lift is maximized push the tote out the back to let the top drop down & empty the tote? If you open the doors I’m thinking the tote may need to be chocked somehow so it does not want to slide out the back vs dumping out .

be carefull you when step[ off the kormidi with a heavy load in the air. it could just be that your body weight is what is keeping it stable. If that was the case the whole thing could tip forward as you step off.

Good job seems like it worked fairly well, when you get back and you're thinking about it, think about opening the doors and pick it up from the rear and see if you can dump it that way without going over the doors cuz I think if you can get it to tip with the doors open you might have a winner just a thought! Great video though thank you!

@georgesalamon8128

Jake, with the extra space you have you should make a ramp for the Cormidi even with your dump trailer so you can dump the IBC tote to the front of the trailer. Also the cherry rack was a little short, looks like there was alot of shrinkage during the drying process. Great video. Love your dogs!
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 11 месяцев назад
I’ve thought about making a loading ramp for the machines but most of the time I prefer to deliver in the International which doesn’t really require a ramp.
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY 11 месяцев назад
Like I said I don’t really make many deliveries in the dump trailer so don’t have a need for one. If I need to load pallets I’d use my flatbed for the international or equipment trailer.

Maybe try dumping the tote with the log arch with the doors open? Wondering if the weight on the doors might bend them or the hinges over time…. Great idea to use the log arch though.

Hi Jske just an idea about using the winch on lifting the tote but can you not run the winch through the bottom of the tote to the back end of the tote and do a complete lift.

What would happen if you ran the straps under the tote and attached to the furthest back bottom of the tote? It might lift the tote higher and roll it out over the doors farther.

What about if you hook the winch cable thru the area you had the straps go under the tote and hook it to the end facing the back of the trailer

Chris had a great idea, I always just thought the arch could help lift up and place the totes. Never thought of it as a way to actually dump them individually. My friend welder Chris and I designed and built it.

I’ve seen pivoting log arches and now your stationary. Both seem to work well. Do you see an advantage to one over the other?
@DudeRanchDIY
@DudeRanchDIY Месяц назад
I decided to build a fixed arch so all of the weight and stress wasn’t only on the two pivot points, also so I could skid logs farther distances than the radius of the arch without having to reset the pull.
