But then I realized what my channel is about, exactly that! That life is not perfect, that we are not always happy, and that we all have different experiences. I hope you enjoy it! Glad you made the Videos it brightens my own life!! i still work 3 evenings a week at age 64 my Husband Jim age 68. commercial Janitorial work. Years ago we had Employees worked 7 days a week. Business fell through in 2016..We just now only. Work wed-friday, -saturdays. only just enough to still make it, we live in Hud Housing Government Housing. But blessed to have a roof over our heads! Lifes always been a struggle for us 23 years as of Sept 4,2022

If I lived next door (I wish!), I would make coffee (I'm not good at it, but it's the heart within it... right? *warm smile*) and I would willingly come and help comb hair (oh, do I have stories about that). Like Mon, I didn't grow up celebrating my birthday. There were a lot of components contributing as to why. Even now as an adult, I still have some insecurities in regards to celebrating my birthday. Well, enough about me.. HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAY'S TO YOU, MON!!
A lot of people don't like celebrating their birthday's, I think it must be a psychological feeling especially if family is far away. Happy Birthday Mon, you're a good husband, father I can tell. 👍
Idk. To me it's just that we never celebrated it from the very start. My mom will just handed over a thousand baht note to me and all of my brothers on our respective birthdays and that was it. That was birthday presents and celebration in one go.
I don’t like birthdays too. I think it’s the sense of grandiosity that makes me uncomfortable. I’m oriental, I did have a birthday parties here and there when I was younger. Just a few times when my mum decides to be ‘generous’. I think Asian cultural are very different in the sense that Asian parents make a conscious effort to not ‘pamper’ their kids. To western culture it may seems unloving and cold but that’s how it is lol. I’m also more introverted by nature, which makes me dislikes attention at birthday parties. Adult extroverts may like it better, perhaps? 🤔 Blessed birthday Mon!
Before at childhood, birthday was very important; party with friends, a lot of presents; as competition. Now, we ask nothing but feel blessed to get something according our personality, what we spoken about months, one idea, a dream. It's the comprehension of our loved ones, the way they listening to us. This ability to identify ourselves.

damn it i am celebrating mon’s birthday no matter what he thinks. as i said when thinking about your dad and durian, i have listened to many thailand bloggers, you bring so much heart, authenticity, and human connection. this is hard to pull off in a disconnected world. please keep going. finally, on birthdays like marriage ceremonies are important rituals to affirm publicly that this commitment or life is treasured.

I’m Laotian, I was born in a refugee camp in Thailand but grew up in the US. Growing up poor, we never celebrated birthdays and maybe 1 Christmas. The only reason I had a birthday at 14 was because my youngest brother was also born on the same day as me. Now as an adult, I don’t get excited or depressed whenever it comes around and really don’t think it’s that special. It feels weird to me having family and friends wish me a happy birthday but I do appreciate that they do

It's all a matter of perspective I think. When someone is faced with the possibility of death they can suddenly start to see every birthday as a blessing and don't fear getting old, rather they see each birthday as a blessing and growing older as just being part of the journey. Not necessarily needing to celebrate it in any particular way, just being grateful to be here. We can make the choice to age well, it doesn't have to be ugly 😄❤

Once when I was 7-9 yrs old, I used to be very jealous on one of my cousin who had the birthday's party and there were many people going to celebrate with many presents. I'm a muslim, my mom's told me, we have only hariraya occasion for celebrating. That point made me feeling frustrated when I was young. But when I've grown up, I realise that everyday can be the special day depending on what's in my mind. I just think that everyday is the unavoidable experience and experience has always the life's lesson. I have 2 kids like you, they have never asked for their birthday's party, they love to asked for good food that mom cooks more. For me, just have everyone I love being together and share every moment together that is the best. However, today is the 1st day that I found your channel, and I fell in love already. You both are so real and make me cant stop watching your stories. Please try to have just a moment to keep doing on youtube. Hope, one day I will go to Lanta and see u there.❤

Seeing your husband so sad for a moment there, when he's almost always so so happy, really made me feel sad too. I'm glad in the end he was able to enjoy it. I think it's so much harder the older we get, especially when we know birthdays can't always be special, but there's this feeling almost like they need to be, because it's our special day, so we want to feel that specialness. I wonder if Mon also feels regret that he didn't grow up having his own special day. I'm glad he's able to now, though! It must feel wonderful, in the end, to have all of that love from your family. That's what makes birthdays best.

Macam aku pula..keluarga aku bukan lah orang senang..tapi tidak lah susah sangat..sederhana sahaja..kenderaan keluarga kami pun masa tu hanya sebuah motor kepunyaan arwah abah..itu pun di bayar secara ansuran..tapi bila ada harijadi seseorang dalam keluarga..kami akan beli sebiji kek untuk di makan di kongsi bersama..paling tidak pun kami akan memberikan ucapan selamat harijadi kepada orang itu.. When we are young we all love birthdays because we are one year older, we have a party with plenty of other children and adults. We get presents and have party food and cakes. But as you grow older you age and hence you don't like reminding. But it's nice for others to remember to send you cards or the odd presents. No celebrating one's birthday anymore. Mae from the UK
