A rare shot of a wild sea trout jumping in the winter sea. We choose a small tree to fell for sheep fodder and firewood. Snowy fun on the ATV on the mainland track. We discuss our plans for fishing, and reminisce about fish and chips!

We don't get snow in Adelaide, so it is a real treat for us to see it. So beautiful. And watching our precious soft floofy babies eating their tree is another real treat. Mmm yes fish n chips for me please!! 😆xx Teresa ❤🇦🇺

Another Adelaideian here. It sure is a treat for us. It is simplely stunning - the frosts and the snow. Very picture post card. Loved the reflections of the pink clouds in the sky reflecting in the water - when you were talking about what type of camera would show the true colours and beauty of your surrounding scenery.❤ The bread looked delishious, by the way.

That map was interesting - so I guess at low tide you can drive the quad bike over the old ford to get your post? I suppose you just walked the sheep over too. We get urban foxes where we live (south Manchester), badgers too, and we've even had a couple of deer go past early in the morning (I have photographic evidence so no pooh-poohing please!).

May I suggest a Mortar Gun, it works exactly like a caulk gun. If you have a lot of jointing to do and fill around the ceiling(s) in all your rooms then they are a time saver. They also allow, with different nozels, for filling far deeper right to the back of any holes/joints than you can easily achieve otherwise. All you have to remember is that mortar doesn't stick like caulk/silicone and apply slow and steadily, with a second person following behind with a large trowel to push mortar into joint. There are videos on RU-vid. A striking tool will give you a good finish. Thanks for your great posts please keep them coming.

With each episode, there is growing justification that you two have made the right choice to move to the island! I learned something today Foxes can swim...I had to google the question! The reaction from your sheep as they watched their food source being 'delivered' was priceless. Fish, where is Robson Green when you need him? Have you considered making room for fishing as a food source for the both of you? Which vegetables are you considering to put to seed soon? Our small community garden area is helping us to grow garlic for the first time, as a trial for other winter plant growth experiments/considerations. They are not doing to badly. Please believe me when I say, you both look more and more happy with your chosen lifestyle. We know you still have a lot to do, but your contentment and inner peace is obvious. Well done for bracing you first winter. I hope you will stay on the island and continue to live as you please.

The water was so calm that it mirrored the reflection of the trees and clouds, right down to showing the pink fluffy ones. I love how your sheep appreciate a nice cedar snack. They are so sweet. We live in Minnesota, so we usually have tons of snow by now, but this year has left us with about 5" which is almost unheard of. We are too far inland to have access to really good fish and chips and what is available, is in the metro. We fabricate our own. Not as good as the ones we had in Ireland or Scotland, when we were there though. Lots of work done in the cottage and so much more to do, I suppose. It's looking quite nice, so your efforts are really starting to pay off. Looking forward to the next video.

You're right about the camera not doing the scenery justice. I've seen some beautiful sunrises, but when I take a picture it doesn't seem to catch what I see with the naked eye. If this is the case with your filming it must surely be spectacular. Red sky in the morning, sailor take warning. I saw some pink in those morning clouds the day it snowed.

That map really is superb. You almost expect it to say "Here be dragons" somewhere. Do you ever take the quads across the old ford? It would be nice to see some footage of that. When the slightly fish-eyed camera came eye to eye (so to speak) with that jumping fish, it could have been tempted to say "Here's looking at you, kid."

I don't know if this will work for what you are doing, but I had friend YEARS ago who was a handyman. He came over and recaulked my bathtub/shower. He told me that everyone pulls the caulk gun, but if you push a bead of caulk ahead of the gun, it forces the caulk in and helps reduce the clean-up. I can't say I know that to be true from experience, but it seemed relevant.
