426 HEMI Returns - 'The Keeper' Screams on the Street 

When your rowing through the gears with a 426 Hemi under the hood of a sweet old Mopar , you forget about the hp and torque numbers and get lost in the moment. Lots of thumbs ups from other drivers who admire such a nice ride.

No radio or music required, that 426 is all you need to hear.

Hey, Another great video! I am 63 now. Growing up in the 60's. The 392 hemi engine was the rage. It was put in Hotrod's all over Indiana. There was a wrecking yard outside of Lebanon, Indiana. Called Wreck's Inc. My friend and I would sneak into the wrecking yard and check out the Muscle cars that had been totaled. Some still had there engines some not. One night after sneaking in. We Spotted a Mopar that still had its Hemi engine in it. We hadn't see a 426 before. Shining the light in the engine bay we could see where the spark plugs wires went. We looked at each other and said " It's a Hemi in there" It was a Monster of a engine. We had seen 392 hemi's in some Hotrod's. Like 32 Ford's or older Mopars. But,We knew this 426 engine was a Monster. Thank you for bringing back fond memories of my youth. Nick. My friend died last year. That I would sneak into Wreck"s Inc.Bone yard with. God Bless him! As I was watching this I was looking at a 1969 High Performance CARS magazine Hemi RR road test and reading the drivers comments as I listened to you stab the throttle on that Hemi RR. Man talk about bringing a story to life!! Enjoyed the ride Nick!

What a great ride! I was in the Air Force from Sept 68 to Sept 72 so I had to wait till I got back to the U.S. in Nov of 71 to get my 72 Road Runner with the 400 Cu In 4BBL carb and Torqueflite trans. Only 155 HP in the engine. Seriously detuned. In 1973 I had to trade in the car, it was killing me in gas during the first Arab oil embargo in Massachusetts. Oh to have that car now with a Hemi in it! Great Memories Nick!

Most A12 cars came with vinyl tops so when you removed the hood you put it on the roof and didn't scratch the paint...

That is a great car, exactly the opposite of a Tesla. I have always been a Chevrolet man, but this car is awesome, sounds awesome and looks awesome. The horn beep was very much appreciated. My uncle had the next gen Road Runner in the early 70's when I was a young boy and I loved the horn...beep beep.

The guy that bought that engine is a lucky man. It's a piece of art. Nick, do you know what gears are in Roadrunner rear end? I also wanna see that purple 67 Charger. My favorite year of them. Hope you show it.

Reminds me of when I put the 2-inch long tube headers on my Coronet RT with the 440 I put the hush Thrush Mufflers right onto the headers and drove it that way all the time it was loud

Back in 1970 my best friends brother bought a new Challenger RT gun metal silver with the strobe stripes. It came with a 340 and a 4 speed with that pistol grip shifter. after 3 weeks he wasn't happy with it so he had the dealer install a brand new 426 hemi in it. Try doing that today. That car was absolutely nuts.

Absolute badassery! One gorgeous ride. That car will pass everything on the road except a gas station and a tire store, LOL! My 1st car was a '69 Charger R/T w/440/4-speed/Dana axle/track pack suspension, bought for $300 USD in 1979 when you couldn't give those cars away. I only wish I still had it now! Beautiful car, most cars back in the day had engine swaps and other 2nd mods, the Pistol Grip was designed for the E Body in the B we called it the Knuckle buster! My buddy had a RR 6 BBL 691/2 most came with a vinyl top where the hood could be placed, also usually radio delete so the antenna front fender mounted wouldn't be in the way, I've seen 1 with a rear fender mounted. Great to see you use these cars as designed since your work is impeccable!

It's great to see it back again, this time in a beautiful Hemi Orange 69 Road Runner 4-speed with an A12 hood. Monday's are always better at Nick's Garage, and a Hemi is just icing on the cake. Great car, love the orange with the black lift-off hood. If I had that car it would *absolutely* be a keeper.
