how many acres do you have? and how many do you plan on farming for christmas trees?
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm Год назад
We have 43ac total and our main field for trees is 7ac. We haven't filled the field yet and now that we're some faster growing Cypress we may never fill it but we can clear some woods if we want to expand.

Hey Phil! Just found your channel the other day. Love what you're doing. Thought about doing the same on our 50 acre farm in Ohio. Keep up the great videos! 👍😃🇺🇸 -C.J.

what is your elevation (above sea level)? did you have to change the soil at all to grow Frasier fir?
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 2 года назад
We're at 360ft. Haven't tried growing Fraser. We have tried concolor and Canaan fir, but have had heavy losses.

@@WoodsTreeFarm that's what I was wondering. It says frasier has to be at 3500. we're at 2300 (Mountains of NC), and were thinking about some trees, but didn't know what would grow for sure. Love your videos, thanks so much for sharing.

Keep the pedal to the metal. Only 184 days until 29 November (black Friday). It's not too late to plant a few pumpkins. They are a great draw and would offer another reason for new customers to visit you. Thanks for the video. You guys are off to a great start!

how do you deal with the insurance...if you do not have before people put a foot in your land ask them to sign a release of liability...ask a lawyer to help you with that...just in case.
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 2 года назад
We have insurance. its not too expensive - maybe $600/year or so. There's also legislation in Virginia that protects agritourism businesses from typical premises and operational liability.

@@WoodsTreeFarm that is such a peace of mind. I know two cases where some one "fell" and another was hit by a branch and sue the owner of the farm. Some are just looking for easy money and justice. ...since is blind...give them what they want despite of been questionable. Blessings to you and yours.

Hi there! This video has more of the background. There's not too much to our getting started story. We decided this what we wanted to do. We acquired the land and jumped right in! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-zv4c_TZtoOU.html

I've been wanting to plant some christmas trees for a while and sell them on my property. How do I find who to sell them to?

I'm sure this varies by location. For me its almost all online. (our website, Facebook, Google My Business and Google Ads). I think I'm going to make a video on this topic within the next couple weeks to show all the things I did to promote our business during the holiday. Thanks!

Gentlemen, I'm surprised at you. The American farmer didn't get where he is today by celebrating Christmas with phony trees and wax popcorn, plastic candy canes. Gentlemen, to the American farmer Christmas is real. He goes out with ax in hand, chops down his own tree, brings it back, garlands it with strings of popcorn from his own corn crib, makes cider from his own apple trees. And when Christmas carols ring out in the still of the night, he looks up to the sky and says, 'I'm proud to be an American farmer on Christmas.'

Ok how bout a fishin derby at the pond. $10 bucks gets you enetered and the winner gets a prize. Rest of the proceeds goes to the farm. Gotta be some fish in that bad boy...
@WoodsTreeFarm
@WoodsTreeFarm 5 лет назад
Yes, the fishing is good. This is already on our idea list! I want to get more of the perimeter cleaned up first, but we'll definitely do something like that eventually.

Can you make a living off a Christmas tree farm?
@WoodsTreeFarm

Good question! This could become a retirement income for us, but the scale which we want to build it, we will not make a living from it in the near-term.

Hey. Why are you buying nutrients? Do you know microorganisms can do the job for you. Feed the soil! Let the microbes feed your plants

They tested the soil first and needed the soil to be ready quickly. Microorganisms take longer

It just creates a bad foundation in my opinion, you could use a easy plant ferment or a compost tea to give a boost in the beginning
