Ste and Doug relationship have always been words vs action, I do believe Ste meant every word he said to Doug,for the most part,but I don't think he fully acknowledge how his actions have undermined those words. Ste may not longer want to work in the deli and Doug have accepted that, however by selling drug in/through the deli he have put both Doug's life and the business at risk. How can Ste say it is none of Doug's business.
Ummm, Ste has done nothing but personally hurt Doug from the very beginning! Ste is not the innocent poor me person in this! He is just as guilty of hurting Doug! And as for friends, Doug is always helping Ste, trying to protect him, etc. What does Ste ever really do for Doug? People can talk all day, trying to console you, but actions speak louder than words! I mean for crying out loud, Ste married Doug and then left him for Brendan! Now Ste could destroy everything they built together if the police were to find out that he was selling drugs at their business! It could get closed down, they both could be suspected, all so that Ste can get some quick cash to buy a place that has more bad memories in it than good in my opinion! Yeah, Ste's a great friend putting them both at risk like that! Really stand up friend there!
Doug is not in love with Ste! Man, Ste resorted to drug dealing; do you think that's acceptable? Why give Doug a hard time? His best friend died, his other friend was arrested, his love interest stood him up, Ste was treating him like crap, no one is giving him a break. A business partner dealing with drugs is the last thing he needs. Don't hate on Doug for being sensible and not wanting any more trouble.
I hope though, that much despite Doug's past luck - he finds love, happiness, and acceptance. To be honest, it seemed a bit un-natural that with the deaths of Riley and Texas, the injuries incurred at his wedding, and the events that lead to Ste reuniting with Brendan, the pressures of a business with an unreliable partner, and now with the arrest of Leanne, that Doug would chose to stay in Hollyoaks. Logically, or even from a point of sanity, wouldn't a normal person leave by now?
yeah! if you've just started watching this show let me catch you up this is Hollyoaks a show where s**t happens to anyone, doesn't matter if you good or bad anything could happen to anyone. Amy and Ste are both known to make errors in judgment but that doesn't mean that either of them should be deprived of their children. So in answering your question yes I do think that Amy should let Ste see his children.

she didn't say anything about Doug objecting to drugs she was referring to how Doug isn't supportive of Ste's grief because he also lost a hell of a lot. You can't choose who you love and Doug may not be in love with Ste anymore but it's obvious that he still wished that when they where together that Ste loved him more.

I back defending Doug again the only reason he brought up the negative aspects of his relationship with Ste is because he felt betrayed by Ste again when he realised that Ste was dealing drugs with Robbie. It is how exes fight, the past is used as a weapon.
Sadly, I agree with you here. He is petulant, and foolish. He is not the man that we loved, and grew to know years ago - the one that had the past, and that fought to redefine himself, as a proud father, graduate and business owner. He was the saving grace for Brendan, and now as he walks the path to become him, I wonder who will save Ste. Considering every aspect of his life - his children, Doug, Brendan - none would want him to turn out this way. As is, he is nauseating...
Actually Doug did try to be there for Ste when Brendan went to prison and Ste lash out at him it is not surprising that he would then keep some distance from the issue,plus Doug and grief is a funny thing he have even been critical of Leanne and her grief over Texas. I have not seen Doug try to tell Ste get over Brendan, but deal with it which is something Ste have not been doing.
Amy doesn't know what's going on now with Ste. She supposedly decided to deny Ste access based on Brendan's being in Ste's life. That was an understandable but bad decision. The children are being hurt by being separated from their dad. Ste chose not to fight it. Ste's preoccupied right now with getting ChezChez and willing to fight dirty for it, but overall, it would be better for the children to have both parents in their lives, even if it's only one at a time. Just my opinion.
its funny how Doug turn there friendship into Brendan still being there? gosh, they need to stay away from each other. He turned Ste selling drugs into brendan and their relationship >.>... ok then.
To add further, Doug's issues with Ste always revolved around Brendan. He was, and rightly so, afraid of Brendan's influence, and fought valiantly in his relationship with Ste to free him of it. He loved Ste, in retrospect, much more deeply that Ste loved him in return, and watched him return to the man that abused, and influenced Ste to become the man that he is today. He was, and continues to be betrayed, and misled by the one person that he loved so deeply to commit to in business, et al...
you can't give people a timeline to grieve they grieve on their own time and they get over loss on their own time. Doug never said that he wasn't going anywhere and that he'll always be there for Ste he basically wanted Ste to move on. I just don't think that Doug can ever be of any help to Ste where he is grieving over losing Brendan because Doug is still hurt and bitter and objective he could never be the friend that Ste needs and vise versa.
By then slapping the very love, trust and investment that Doug has made in him back at him, in both ways. He returned to a past, to an abuser, and to a man that though later viewed as admirable and natural, killed and destroyed many lives. Doug had his very clear and distinct reasons not to trust Brendan, all of which were clearly explained to Ste. Doug fought for his business, and for Ste's heart. In both, Ste has done nothing but, at best, thrown them back at him. Did Doug deserve either?
It's like yall want blood or something from Ste he was the only comfort to Doug today not even John Paul could of offered him that. Ste was willing to lend Doug a shoulder and support but Doug brought it back to the negative aspects of their relationship,
I agree wholly here. The concept seemed a bit muddled, and perhaps not as planned as other lines, however, natural and viable. Considering the ground breaking nature of Hollyoaks in general - it's perhaps the only environment in which such a story line could exist. Sadly, though, it presents itself as incredibly frustrating if you are a fan of either (or both) characters in that you cannot help but chose sides. Ultimately, it seems that Ste is bent on becoming Brendan.
I'm sorry I love Ste to death but when he said that he would be there for Doug I literally burst out laughing. He and Doug are both guilty of not being very supportive of each other their relationship was never give and take or even take, take they where always to hell with you and your problems.

If level headed adults came to a conclusion about this matter - what would be in the best interests of both men? A split of the business, and both go their separate ways? Or, perhaps in only a way that TV can do so - they both forgive each other and move on. If the first happens, we will lose this story line. If the other, it seems unnatural and uncanny. Hopefully, though, this is resolved before either is dead. It is, after all, Hollyoaks in 2013. Death lurks around every corner it seems...
not making it into a Ste vs Doug issue, even though I love Ste more I still like Doug My issue is wth Dougs fandom wanting Ste to give more than Doug himself gives. Even though I didn't believe a word Ste said when he told Doug that he's still got him and that he's here for him(seeing as right now Ste can't see anything but Chez Chez) atleast he offered some words of hope and encouragement Doug didn't when Ste lost Brendan Doug expected Ste to get over Brendan as quickly as he got over him
Ste is obviously grieving. He's now in fase 1: Denial. I think the Roscoe's are going to be important in Ste's life. I hope he finds the family in them that he never had growing up. I also have a feeling Robbie and Ste are going to be very important in eachothers lives (not romantically!!), since I think Robbie will be gay.
theres nothing wrong with feeling bad for Doug I have my moments too but I just don't think that Ste is responsible for everything that goes wrong in Doug's life he isn't suppose to be responsible for keeping Doug's hopes alive where has Doug been when Ste needed hope with what he's been going through for the past few months, Doug has only been judgmental and unresponsive to Ste's feelings.
lol dysfunctional is one thing but Doug being on his high horse and the writers make it all plotty for ste to snap at him, I can't deal with it. I get he lost his friend but when he is hurting, it's just him, yet when ste was hes like get over it. ugh.
All I can say is that all this drug dealing with lead to problems and harm for both Ste and Doug. They both will get hurt. Ste is probably going to pay for it. He might go to jail to be close to Brendan. Who know what the writers will do?
I freaking loved Brendan but I don't know where you are dreaming all this rot up from. Ste is going down the dark side again and Doug is right and it is obvious he isn't in love with Ste anymore.
Sadly, though, with so much to be angry and hurt over, how else can we expect Doug to react to Ste? Doug bore the burden of loving Ste in private, and deeply loved him. Ste's responsibility to both Doug and himself was to be mature - to realize that Doug was more than a lover, but also a business partner. A mature adult would have realized that from the beginning, and been ready to embark upon a relationship if and only if fully ready for it. He decieved Doug then - and continues to today...
Thank you so much! Again and again.. I am so glad that you continued to follow Ste after Brendan.. I keep rewatching Brendan (most likely with Ste in it ;)), even reading fanfic now.. Just don't know how to say goodbye. Even though I don't hate the idea of the McQueens running ChezChez, I really hope Ste'll get his hands on it! In any evil way possible.. I like edgy nasty Ste.
I love their interactions too,for one in soaps you never get to see gay exes deal with the fall out. Even as a doug fan I loved their whole story arc friends that became lovers that didn't work out now they are exes dealing with the that even if the storyline had its problem it ended up not being a typical gay storyline
You are a bad person who likes to see people suffer. ㋡ I call the episode Ste feels guilty for being rough with Doug, so he attempts a rapprochement and only ends up hurting him more. I think Doug's mom must have weaned him too early. Instead of 3 years to each of the 3, they should give all 9 years to the doctor.
u are missing her point as he was. u are right he is resorting to selling drugs but all he comes up with is Brendan still with them? Doug showed no concern when he told Ste the other day he has nothing. Of course Doug has right to be upset as well but regarding their relationship, same i was for Ste. it is just best if they stay away from each other.
