Mothers we have to realize that our trauma and our life decisions have a direct impact on our children and shaping their childhood memories/experiences. I grew up in similar situations with my mother and it definitely took a toll on my life. It took me becoming a mother and wanting better for my children in order for the trajectory of my life and their to change. I'm praying for Ny. It is going to be rough for a while but she can make it and be so much in life. Baby girl this is just a phase in life it doesn't have to be your whole story.

I love my black people but when it comes down to mental issues and medicine y'all tap dance on my last nerve. We need to stop this they dont need meds talk. I have been in education for over 20 years. I'm tired of the excuses when it comes to imbalances and medication. I think that any parent that receives a diagnosis for their child and does not give their child proper medication for that diagnosis is neglecting their child. Just because you can handle your child at home doesn't mean the world going to be able to handle your child outside of the home. Listen, I believe prayer changes things. I believe therapy changes things and I believe proper discipline changes things. However, I also believe that God gave man wisdom to make certain medications to help us balance ourselves. I am so sick and tired of trying to teach impulsive kids who don't want to take their medicine yet they want to go and smoke. You got kids out here self-medicating every morning before school. Stop with the excuses. They're too many people walking around in our communities with unsolved issues that could be solved with proper diagnosis, prayer, medication and therapy. I'm tired of I don't like how it makes me feel. Did you give the medicine time to work? One last thing. Taking medication does not rob you of your personality or your talent. As a person who has ADHD anxiety and OCD I can tell you that being on medication has actually helped me to be more successful.
I like Nyoki;she most certainly has a lot of potential. And yes, ma ma bear looks just like her hehehe. I'm think she'll do well in sports with all that energy. I was in swimming, field hockey and volleyball. I didn't have time for nothing. And that would lead to good scholarship programs in college if she's interested. I don't know how my parents did it. It doesn't take a degree in psychology to have a desire to want to help people. I help many with tough love and a prayer. At the same time I get it, that girl is a bad apple due to her upbringing and life chooses. I as a single man with four children couldn't in my right mind add another child that's not mine into my family, especially a broken female. We're living in a different era there's no such thing as a "village" in the black community...and that "community" is more like a hood. That hood I speak of gravitates more towards drama and insanity instead of sanity and peace.

Just watched the whole video. Just as sad as the young girl. All this generational truama left unresolved. If baby girl don't slow it down, the cycle will repeat itself. I pray that she turns her life around, but man it's gonna take some work to unravel. If mom could pull it together, it might rain Nyoki in somewhat. She needs stability so don't give up on her emotionally. She's still a child and this behavior didn't happen overnight. Maybe even consider relocating elsewhere. Prayers for you both.

I'm a 71-year-old woman. I watched both of Nyoki's interviews, and she made me laugh and happy because she was so full of life. I enjoyed her interviews "Tremendously". She perked me up and made me smile. She was so exciting and funny! Watching her interviews, I was happy all day! May God always bless and be with her.
This lady and her daughter both need healing. The mother needs more help and support to get them both through their hardships. She gives a sense of truth sincerity. She’s dealing with so many compounded dynamics but she’s still maintaining to a degree. God has a plan for you and your whole family. Stay strong and hold on ma’am. God is not asleep. I disagree with Marcus in some respect, you can have a chemical imbalance in the brain which requires you to have meds. With that said talk therapy has to work with the meds. When they become out of control, and just parenting discipline is not working. meds has to be taken. You will get tired of her behavior Marcus because you won't be able to take it anymore, no matter how much patience you have. Trust me I know this from real life experience. Some people can not be fixed unless they want to be.
Actually that was the only thing he was right abt. The chemical imbalance thing is a lie and pseudo-science. Mental illness is a not a physical thing and if you had a chemical imbalance there would be a blood test for it. Psychotropic drugs are not "meds" and they cause a chemicals imbalance by giving your brain damage because they turn off the neurotransmitters that make your body work. If you did have a chemical imbalance that means you have some health issue or aren't eating right.

I'm from Louisiana. My mom believed me but still stayed. I'm glad I was old enough to say no and to protect myself. He made my life hell because I wouldn't sleep with him. My mom ended up putting me out. She has never apologized to this day. It has made me a better mom.
It sure does takes a village. Let me tell you i dont know if thats true. Cause once you have behavior issues they would help. Cause i been there they would had put her in home school away smh. But alot of parents dont do it but you fail them smh. Insurance doesn't matter all Doctors accept medicaid because they was losing money. Just because you work your Insurance is not the best. Sometimes medicaid will pay more for some procedures when they changed over from straight medicaid to hmo
Trust me that doesn't always work. I'm a perfectionist that dedicated my life to my only child. The minute she turned 17 she decided she was grown and made every wrong decision she possible. Because I held on too hard and I was too much of a good mom. She wanted to know what the streets was like and she found out! But unfortunately, she felt college her calling. Sitting in her ass playing depressed is. There's no rule book and no guarantees. And child will grow up and choose their own way
