If he’s been forgotten it’s because modern Republicans don’t like him. He actually ran as the nominee of the Progressive Party (the forerunner of modern day Democrats) in 1912. Several years ago at CPAC, when John McCain named him as his favorite president he was roundly booed. Of course they boo any mention of John McCain now.
