I discovered this channel a few days ago and have been tearing through the information. My back yard is the Western Melange belt of the Cascades with some Eocene plutons and rhyolite sprinkled around. I can hardly wait for spring to come so I can go see it all again with new eyes. Thank you for taking the time to put these videos together. I've enjoyed them immensely.

That American Mastodon tooth is a beauty. We used to find lots of amazing fossils in the phosphate mines of Central Florida, "bonevalley." I grew up hunting fossils, but have gotten into the minerals more lately mostly due to where I'm currently living having some cool stuff to find. I just love to explore, and love being outdoors. Thank you for the videos.

Good eye. That Mastodon was found >9000ft above sea level in Snowmass, CO. The Paleo Nerds podcast is an entertaining way to keep up with the latest in paleo.

These little gems are a joy to learn. Thank you for your passion and wisdom as knowledge is empty without people to know it...so please keep spilling the beans.

i forgot to mention lake Bonneville was formed from the last ice age melting, that lake was only 28,000BC or rather thats when the ice broke free and it flooded out through redrock pass down the portnuff river all the way to the snake river. thats not that long ago for an ice age. mostly alpine glaciers with some low valley plate glaciers.

@@CVshorey awe yes lake mazzola another good example, if i remember correctly Lake Bonneville was left behind from Lake mizzola, the Columbia river and its history, i can't remember the gentleman's name but there's a guy on here with an amazing lecture on the Columbia River. im in Preston Idaho if you wondered, i have recently discovered a bucket dredge had to have been in Cub River, Idaho. there is a very long and wide section of fist size rock up to a large pumkin, with ZERO fine material just rock? to my knowledge that would take a tremendous classification? if you remove 2" of dirt everything else just falls in and disappears down in the rocks. any suggestions on old bucket dredging? or hydraulic monitoring?
