Thank you for inviting me to be a part of your amazing channel and allowing me to give a tour of my fish room! I enjoyed being interviewed and sharing my passion for aquascaping with your audience. Looking forward to more fun collaborations in the future! Aquariums are fun. Hanging out with friends who love aquariums is even more fun.

Thanks! Its been a joy to have. Don't expect anyone to do what I did but it is a statement piece that says. Go for it! Do what you want. And aquariums are fun. Enjoy this amazing hobby however you see fit.

Yes! Ive debated putting a video out there just on this topic. It boils my blood with how twisted everything has become.

Thank you. And anyone can do this probably even better than me. That's why Ive been sharing everything I know because its not hard once you see that this is possible and learn what it takes is not overwhelming.

Learn to grow plants not fight algae I love this quote. It's hard to understand when you are a beginner. But it's the key.

Great aquariums! Congrats…question…how do you remineralize your RO water?
@James_NatureAquatics
@James_NatureAquatics 2 месяца назад
I assume he would agree…. Most of us use a gh/kh booster to mineralize. I personally use a tds meter as it is without any tds. I use dennerle gh/kh booster and add to a tds of 120. I do this slowly over an hour or so. Add a little, wait 20 minutes, measure, repeat. If I use seriyu stone of similar I will only add a gh booster as the seriyu will control the kh on its on and adding booster will push the water more hard than softer like I prefer.

I have very soft water. TDS around 50 ppm. Based on the city water report it is mostly calcium. My alkalinity is around 0.5 dkh. So it is ideal for growing plants. At every water change I add Magnesium via Epsom salts and Calcium Sulfate and Potassium Sulfate to bring the TDS between 125 and 150. To measure this I use an inexpensive TDS pen.

@@jmaquascaping my water was this great living in NC. In Florida I had to get a pricy RO system as the tds at the tap is around 900…. Mostly calcium from a base soil of aragonite but too high to do anything else with it.

@@James_NatureAquatics Looking at the same problem here, 800tds from tap @ 7dKH.

@James_NatureAquaticcan i use drinking water filter ? Aquaguard company, and I don't have remineralizers so can I mix it with tap water ? Like maybe 50-50? Also what's the use of RO water ?

wouldnt say the rule of thirds is crap (rather a nice guidance), but other than that some nice approaches ;)

Heh. My first & third tanks take care of themselves. They're naturally planted & I've only done 2 water changes on them so far. They are self-sustaining machines. I LOVE them! My 2nd tank was an algae & nitrite/ate nightmare that's finally been wrangled: the cories managed to make a hole in the sand at the back that was leaching substrate nutrients into the water column. And they're so well-behaved at the front of the tank... =p Whenever I find a problem in one tank, I pull it out & put it into another tank for its denizens to take care of: usually algae but sometimes I have to put the guppy males into horny jail...
