Lovely scenes in the Hampshire countryside, Locos immaculate in these carefully chosen locations. A welcome distraction from all the Covid stuff going on around us. Thank you for sharing.
I've only been on three heritage railways on my visits to UK from Oz. This line doesn't look to be the most scenic, but its length alone makes it a candidate for the next trip if we are ever permitted to depart from our island continent prison. Excellent sequences: beautiful capture of trains and the skies.
Another great video with very well chosen locations. I loved seeing the smoke as the train was below the trees and walls. As a boy I would dash over to see which engine was making the smoke. Thankyou for the heads up regarding the green Jubilee. She is a beauty. Many years back I saw her in the shed at Dinting Railway Centre and she was in an awful shade of red. The green is my favourite.
Let's hope the Mid Hants Railway doesn't become the next victim of vandalism. The Llangollen Railway is closed in this second lockdown situation, and has been vandalised. Carriage windows have been smashed, seats ripped up and empty alcohol bottles left in evidence. With no money for repairs and possible replacements, it looks like the end for the railway I'm a member of. Not what anyone wants to hear about in a lockdown situation, I know. But I'm sure they'd rather be aware than kept in the dark.
Very sad to hear, as when I manage to again visit from Australia, the Llangollen Railway is definetly on 'the list' of heritage railways to cover. Perhaps a National Lotteries grant and other fundraising may help it? I hope that the Welsh locals are able to assist with security, difficult as this is for preserved railways the world over. You have to wonder at the mentality of those who vandalise irreplaceable history, but of course they don't function as 'responsible adults', not that this excuses the horrendous acts they commit.
Nice collection of shots of 45596 Bahamas & 506 looks like reading the description with the tickets selling out quick. The Mid Hants Rly's gamble to host a Gala during these difficult times had payed off nicely. Congrats to the volunteers at the Mid Hants for putting a show on. Richard
Hi my name is Phil I fired this locomotive in my 50yrs on the footplate 8yrs on steam i started at edgeley shed I fired it a number of times as well as others i finished my time out at longsight as a driver in 2011 Regards Phil.
I remember when, as a lad, I would often see Bahamas on the WCML but in those days she was unloved, unwashed and covered in rust. How beautiful that engine now looks in preservation.
Superb video Liam and Phil. Excellent camera panning. Enjoyable watching with plenty of action. Well done to Mid Hants for putting on the gala. Helped with the nice weather. A worthwhile event.
Exellent coverage thanks it is great footage never done the Mid Hants one day hopefully. done a tribute on third engineer channe[ .Very enjoyable . brian
A joy to watch, thanks Liam and Phil. The star was definitely 'Bahamas' but the S15 wasn't far behind especially with the goods. Perfect weather for exhaust trails with the backdrop of the Hampshire countryside and early-autumn colours, plus some very clever use of the natural lighting for dramatic effect... 'delight' is understatement. Kind regards, Bob
What an evocative set of shots. Particularly as the autumn light was fading and the silhouette of the train of carriages, @12:24, crossed over the bank & was held above camera height. Lovely moments.
WHAT IS GOING ON, FIRST I SAW NO PUBLICITY WHATSOVER OF THIS EVENT, AS IS ENDEMIC NOW OF THE WHOLE UK. THEN THERE ARE RESTRICTIONS PREVENTING BIG EVENTS NOW WITH PEOPLE SUPPOSED TO WELL SPACED OUT = BUT WE SEE THE OPPOSITE HERE, SO SURELY RULES ARE BEING CONTRAVEMED !!!!!.
Limit of 500 people per day, social distancing and masks on trains, and each group is allocated one table/compartment for the whole day to prevent cross contamination. Each loco hauled each rake of stock at least once, so everyone could theoretically ride behind each engine
