I love when people spend a shit ton of money on stock engines just to see what it's really capable of with good support and a proper setup. I pushed 450~whp on my stock B20 before the head gasket started letting go and breaking up after 6000rpm on full pulls. Just got rid of all my Honda stuff and really miss my E30, so now I'm boosting my M20B27.
That's funny. I'm finishing up a built all motor k24a EG Hatch, and I'm most likely gonna sell it so i can fully rebuild my blown m20b25 in my e30 and go turbo m20. It's tough tho bc I'm a die hard honda guy. But I think it's for the best to move in this direction bc people pay top dollar for these EG hatches, let alone when they've been k swapped.
That amount of power in an e30 that weighs 2600lbs-ish is absolutely crazy, super sick build, and hopefully my e30 will have more than 121hp one day lol (my e30 is an 87 325e, the I/is cars made a little more power).
This really makes me want to turbo my m20 haha. I got a 325ix which doesn't really give the option for an engine swap while keeping awd but this! looks so fun, great video man
The M21 diesel is based on the M20, I made close to 300hp and about 400ft/lbs before i blew the original motor. Granted it had close to 312k miles and it had been running 18psi from a WH1C(Hx35) i bought it with 100k miles 12 years ago and it gave me 11 year of ownership. If a stock M20 can do this im sure my 524td can be brought back to life. E28 524td parts are just rare but for where I want to go stock parts wont matter.
Ha, the rear view of following cars disappearing into the distance at an alarming rate! And that final pull, whoaaa! The pops from that exhaust could take out a small house! Love the 'smart cookie' photo, potential merch right there! 😎
Kamei side skirts. The rear valance is a erebuni piece that was a random cheaper company made from fiberglass in the 80s. It was basically a rep of a kamei and zender mix kit. E30 kits are sort of my thing lol
The m20 is a very well engineered strong engine im not sure how long it will last running like this though!!! Wicked build nice one dude, shame the guy doing this vid was so scared of it though!!! Soon as it comes on boost he lets off!!!tbf it does look and sound a handfull!!! And this is basically the builders prototype!!!
you are my favorite car creator on youtube man i’m working on getting my e30 going right now, shaved anyone bay rebuilt striker m20 running ms2 with tucked harness made from scratch
@@m3nameisjosh464 the guy I bought an m50b30 stroker kit from back in the day said he basically daily drove his 325is for 2 years. Had the stroker incase it blew up. Never did and he ls swapped the car. Highly considering the same when I pick up another e36.
If he has those Soft durometer of Poly bushings it makes the carr feel OEM+ like stock comfortable squish but still stiff and predictable subframe movement.
nice are you sure that is has the stock headstuds? my turbo m20 build will be ready i a few days, and im also have the clutchmasters fx400 6 pack sprung,,how was the pedal feel?
Positively positive its a bone stock engine haha, untouched by him and since this video its been apart and stock studs were found. But the pedal feel is perfect. I love it
@@bmwe-op4jx funny you mention world record haha, so the stock headgasket blew and he finally installed an upgraded headgasket and arp studs and car was having boost creep on the dyno and we ended up putting down 520whp and 640wtq on this m20 and it lived!! To my knowledge the highest documented power a stock bottom end m20 has made.
@@m3nameisjosh464 wow... im gonna use the stock headgasket with oring block and arps on my m20 turbo build Did he put Athena cut ring gasket or Mls now ?
i'm not want to be that guy, but how did he got 460hp at 19psi ? i have full built M20 (stock 2.5 internal) , cams, cometic, arp everywhere ect ect, i'm at 410whp and 490nm @18psi with super hard map. Did it take 7500+ RPM ?
The turbo makes every bit of difference. These cars can be drastically different in power depending on turbo, sizing of turbo, exhaust sizing, and timing in the tune. My m50 takes 28psi to make 560, i know many m50s making 600 on far less boost
@@m3nameisjosh464 maybe the fact this engine is stock with stock compression ratio help. I'm running with 8.2:1 CR , same boost at 8.8:1 can give some more HP ! :) but i'm impressed by the fact this head gasket still runing fine 😅 in France, everyone i know who have done a turbo m20 with oem HG got HG faillure 😂 even with only 7psi of boost, that why i bought cometic for my engine 🙂
Aren't you worried you're gonna get water in through the turbo? It's so close to the front end and so accessible that even a small puddle would definitely get water in there
@@m3nameisjosh464 This tempts me so much to slap on the wutang war whistle I have sitting. I don't think I'd shoot for astronomical numbers especially being from ebay but a little quicker would be fun. 95 525i at 325k, I push it but I haven't had any issues aside minor coolant leaks. I've been super lucky with this car.
I don't think I caught how many lbs of boost this car is running on a stock head gasket. I am currently finishing my 325ix turbo m20. I have been thinking I would be making like 300hp, but damn 460WHEEL? wtf.
mine makes 350rwhp at 18psi on arp head studs, stock gasket on a haltech. pulled the head last week as I am building a new engine. Cyl 6 water jacket on the intake side of the gasket is showing signs of pressure leakage from combustion under boost. Stock gasket can take a bit of a hammering. Gasket would of lasted for sure if the port was welded so it could clamp it properly.
@@zanerasmussen8889 the water jacket inlets on the cyl head, with them open like that the gasket isnt supported around the fire ring. Needs a bridge there to clamp down.
@@dw2176 thats sick! Maybe making 450 he was running more boost, dont remember. But this head gasket blew, since this video was filmed he did arps and a head gasket and put down 520 who and 640 wtq LOL. Crazy
that's maybe the best idea to never spend money on the engine , when its blow up just replace it for the price of the arp bolt and the hg , i spent 6000$ on my m50 and i am always scared to blownit off and ruin half the parts if not all , i could have bought 12 engine lol
EXACTLY, my buddy fully built an m52, blew it up first drive, now he makes 500 on a stock m52 with even a stock HG, its lasted 5 years so far. ARP and a head gasket is all you need!
