46100 Royal Scot At Speed - The North Wales Coast Express - 2016

46100 'Royal Scot' hauls its first official mainline run, as it heads the North Wales Coast Express from Crewe to Holyhead. Just the one location today, as the weather was pretty awful and it didn't look like letting up, so not the greatest results unfortunately, but still a fine sight to see another iconic loco return to the mainline.

Wonderful stuff! As a kid in the forties, I used to live on the LMS main line, and I can just remember the Scots with parallel boilers and the old straight smoke deflectors, before they were modified, and this later configuration of course. These videos are so enjoyable. Thanks a lot!

Brilliant capture Liam and the Scot looked and sounded superb as only a Scot can. Good positions you took up as well so all round a fabby doo vid!! Thanks. Ken. PS heading to Carlisle on 20th hoping she'll be on the WCME. Up via Shap and back via the Cumbrian coast. Presently sussing out a good spot on the coast line, maybe see you about. K

Very attractive shot, despite the conditions, with all the steam billowing. You can see the effect of the smoke deflectors.
