What an amazing home you have. What started out as a boat , is now a luxury liner!!…quite an achievement….wow …you should be so proud of what you have done . Thank you Liz , Paul and Ernie for sharing your home and your new life. You guys are the best narrowboat channel on you tube …definitely the one to watch … thank you and enjoy the spoils of your hard work .. amazing . 🏴🏴
We have just found your vlog. We watch quit a few. We are really enjoying yours. The singing and Ernie’s boots are great. You did a fabulous job on your boat. Love the colors. ❤❤❤❤
Hi Karen, welcome along on our journey with us. Lovely to have you join us. Thanks for watching. Hope you had a fab Xmas. Wishing you a happy new year 😀
I love u 2 and Ernie the dog. Lovely boat and home. Beautiful u have thought of everything. Love to see some of your art work. Had to laugh when u said Colin the cactus I have jake the cactus
Not sure how you come to be on my suggestions list, but thank you for a wonderful video. Your home looks lovely and also very relaxing. Thank you for sharing 🙏😊
Hello from Summerville Oregon USA. Clearly a labor of love, the work you've done is great and the boat is beautiful. A lovely lifestyle choice living on a narrow boat. Thank you for sharing.
Hi Both, First time viewer. Liked the chilled pace you showed us around. Like the idea re shoe store under kitchen units, may try that idea on my boat, thank you. Brill space you life in, Well Done you X🐰x
Agree, Beautifully done and sacrificing space to fit bigger bed, all makes logical sense as you spend more time in bed then walking through the narrower gap. Superbly done.
What a fantastic job you've done, you should be very proud . Enjoy your first winter aboard, every challenge is a new learning curve. Congratulations ❤
Hi Liz & Paul Thanks for giving us a tour of your boat, it's been fantastic watching the progress from the beginning and with lots of hard work from the pair of you the boat looks fantastic Take care Jane & Martin.
I;ve watched you guys from the beginning and you have made your boat a very lovely beautiful home...... thank you for the tour, a very lovely comfy home, and Ernie's home, I bet he tries to sleep on your bed at times....
Thanks Lyn, our Ernie does have a little snuggle with us on the bed for a few minutes before jumping down to his bed, we don't mind though, in winter we will probably be arguing as to who he cuddles for the warmth 🤣
The colors are absolutely beautiful - well chosen & so soothing ! Way too many 'decor' thingys for my taste - flowers, statuettes, nick-nacks etc....clogs up the space, altho we all know how this happens with Xmas gifts & can't resist purchases when shopping ! But the space is really well thought out - kitchen is lovely, apart from the lack of a big frig/freezer - one of my beefs with these boats as well as the narrow living room that I find psychologically daunting - why I could not live on one ! It is just about the nicest boat I've seen on youtube tho ! You are obviously both into being tidy which is why it works - too many couples are tidy/messy combinations which makes life hard however you live - somebody is always running around fixing what the other half messed up !- so you are a great couple from that perspective & I would say lucky you ! Congratulations on a really lovely home !
Absolutely stunning boat! The colours are amazing. My better half - herself an artist - has always said Liz has the eyes of an artist! She is dead right!! You have both done an incredible job! Thank you for the video....
Well done guys you both have made a beautiful home! I wish you many happy days onboard, it has been a pleasure watching your journey! Happy Dayz ahead 😉
Wow! Beautiful. I've loved watching the whole process. Did I miss you explaining the name you chose? "Assumption is" (why and what it means to you)? Safe travels, I love the vlog.
Thank you. Story behind the name: planned to call the boat Reflection. Hence the youtube channel name choice, but its unlucky to rename a boat when it's in the water so it's original name from the previous owner was 'Assumption is'. When the boat came out of water we were preoccupied in sorting out other factors that the survey had revealed and before you know it she was back in the water again and we had missed the opportunity to rename. Since then the name has kind of grown on us and we are going to stick with it 🙂🤪
When you look back to when you first bought the boat and the condition of it, till now warra transformation! The boat is a credit to you Liz, Pauls buggered it haha :) Seriously though you wouldn't believe it was the same boat, a credit to both of you. :) ps: He had to do it didn't he lol
Argh thank you so much. Your comments make us chuckle every week and it means a lot to us that you have followed our journey and hope you continue to join us on our adventure 😀
Hands down your narrowboat renovation is the best one I have seen on RU-vid. It is amazing what you have accomplished. You have turned your narrowboat into a beautiful home.
@@MarkHarper-ek8ss Hi Mark we did the video tour together just as we renovated it together. It's our boat that we made into our home over an 8 month period. We do all our videos together and it was created to show our subscribers the end result of all our hard work..together! Thanks for watching nethertheless 😉😊
You've both worked so hard and it looks beautiful. Can I ask where you bought the vinyls from. I'm looking to having one for our Stern in the form of lyrics. Thanks x🎉
Love your narrowboat, it’s beautiful. And I noticed the external paintwork. Looking very shiny. 😊 Will you share with me the internal colour - the green? We have a small narrowboat with oak panels. I’m happy to keep the oak but husband is thinking of painting it. If we do I’d like the same colour as yours. Also - I know you’re retired but are you doing any work on narrowboats? We have a small boat, needs a bit of internal work and I love yours!
Thank you so much for your comments. The paint is a dulux colour Match paint the code is DX-BZ42DCDWKX we coloured matched Lick paint Teal03. Unfortunately we having a rest for a while so no work for us 🤣 but always happy to help with colours and blends etc, just send me a message through Instagram. 😀
@@uponreflection Understand, enjoy your rest, well earned. Thank you so much for the colour code, husband may be right on the colour. It is amazing what you have done.
Hi Guys, just found you and subscribed, I'm looking at getting a boat in a few years, been getting loads of great information and tips from you all on the canals, I'm doing homework here, back at school, I'll be sixty when I get the chance to hit the water so I've got to get it right first time, your boat is a design I've liked from the rear, as a friend would say ( don't be rude 🤣) I mean a cruiser stern, then galley/ lounge, wet room, bedroom, your boat looks amazing, big high fives for what you have achieved. BUT !!! da-da-da. Your bow is longer than any I have seen with a cruiser stern and I love it, a lounge fore and aft, and storage in the bow, that would be great for coal in the winter, my big question is what style of boat is this?? Because it seems a really great shell for someone to build on for continuous travelling. Sorry if I've taken up your time, but many thanks, Nige 👍👍
Hi there Nige, thank you so much for watching and for you comment. Good luck on the start of your boating journey in a couple of years. You are going to love it. Our boat was built in 1999 by brofabco Ltd. I haven't really got any more information about the boat buildings than that if I'm honest. 😀
Beautiful boat! 🤩 I’m currently renovating my own and wondered what you used to panel your walls out?? Was there a specific wood you used and then painted over or did you buy ready made panels? Also, did you attach by gluing or using screws? If screws how did you cover the holes to get the seamless look throughout? These might sound like silly questions but I’m just trying to figure out the best solutions 😂 Thankyou!!!
Thank you so much. Unfortunately we didn't panel the walls as they were already there we did add a few in though and sunk the screws and used wood filler to hide them. I know when joining panels our boat and others use cover moulds to cover the joints of each board on the walls, ceiling etc. 🙂
*Morena Liz, Paul & Ernie 🙂 Your new home is gorgeous. Thanks for the full tour. It really looks so amazing. You have both done a fabulous job, for what is a narrow barge, you have made it look bigger and that is a huge achievement. I am so sure that you have given many people ideas for their homes either on a barge or even in their homes on the land. Have you looked into some way of not getting so much condensation or is just barge life to always have it? 🙂.nz*
Hi Andrea thank you so much 😀 condensation is usually a thing boat but to be honest ours does seem to get an awful lot in the bedroom. Probably doesn't help that all 3 of us sleep in there with our hot breath 🤣🤣 we may look into having another bent fitted possibly, we will see how it goes over winter and if it's manageable or not. Hope all is well with you 😀
@@uponreflection *Yep all is well.... I brought home my new toilet cistern in it's box strapped to my backpack the other day and I rode home with it. So now that and the new toilet is sitting in my lounge at the moment...*
@@uponreflection *Oh over time I have carried all sorts on the bike. I have carried a double headboard on the side of the bike... a child carseat on the back, a child's high chair, a spare bike tyre, my carpenter tool box, boxes of magazines on the back too... have bike will travel is my motto. With the Double bed headboard, I picked it on the side of the road at the inorganic's... it was in excellent condition... so I traveled carefully with it... finally got onto the motorway and was close to home... and then a cop pulled me up... he had followed me for awhile at a distance and was most impressed. He only asked if a vehicle came too close what would I do... I said drop it... as it was not tied to me or the bike. He was fine with that answer and sent me on my way... I got it home and onto the bed it went after I had cleaned it.... as I say "Have bike will travel". I very rarely have to borrow a car to get things home. I do all my grocery shopping with the backpack and a bag on the front. 🙂.*
That's ok, We have actually got all the renovation videos on here but I have also done a very quick 20min video showing a speeded up version of the whole boat renovations. Think its vlog number 65. The video shows how it was when it was when we got it rather than this tour showing just the finished results really. Worth a watch if you wanted to see what we have worked on to create our little home. :)
I’ve watched from the beginning and seen the care and thought that has gone into every bit of the fit out. Hard work certainly pays off when taking on such a task. Lovely boat, lovely couple and handsome Ernie. I’m sure you will inspire other boaters as to what can be done. There is certainly no ‘it will do’ aboard your boat.
Hi Wendy. It turned out he had a corn dart in his paw which was removed, that's why he was licking his paw. He's very good at pointing out things to us and they are quickly resolved. 😉😊
It's anything but boring William, I can't answer for everyone but our youtube was originally started to allow friends and family to see our adventures as we are some distance from them now it allows them to see what we have done with the boat and follow our journey 😀
God this is why I don't watch flat tours, just show each room, don't need to know every item in your flat/house/boat , ,jeezo it's so tedious , boat is lovely though
A lot of people like to know how we downsized our belongings from a 4 bed house to a narrowboat so a brief look into storage and where we have squeezed things in was all we were trying to show and how we've adapted the boat to suit us
Glad you discussed rubbish storage. Strangely, that's one of the things that most narrowboat videos seem to skip over and I'm always wondering where it all goes in between drop-offs.
I have watched a large amount of narrowboat videos and I will say this is one of the best interior designs that I have ever seen. It does not look like the average narrowboat inside.
It looks amazing, what you have done to it from day one to now is nothing short of a miracle. You must be proud of your achievements. Please keep the blogs coming, as I would like to follow your travels on the UK canals, and rivers, you are a very entertaining couple, not forgetting ernie of course. Good luck to you all.
Thank you so much Geoff. We will of course keep the vlogs coming and we look forward to having you along on our future journeys on the Waterways (although rivers, May be a while as we've not got the confidence to tackle those yet🤣)
Hi Martin. That was on the list to do but it was a job that got pushed to the bottom of the list as we didn't get any over bearilingly hot nights on the boat this summer. Hopefully it can be top of list for next summer 😀
Lynn here on Hubby's phone mines playing up 😏, Hiya were new subscriber's , we watch quite a few boat people and yours as just popped up on the phone , you've made a really good job of your boat , but I think the star of the show as to be your dog , absolutely gorgeous 😂, Im quite nosy so might I ask a few questions, oh go on then 😂😂😂, just dont answer if you find tgem too personal its fine , how old are you ? a bit personal 😂, how old is your dog ? How long have you been on the water ? , what do you do for funds ? Who do you watch on the boats ? We watch Ben and. Emily with Alan the cat , Wez and Amy , Narrowboat Will and there's a few more too 😊, what part of the canals are you mainly on ? Maybe I should give you a rest now 😂😂😂😂, Thanks for sharing, looking forward to watching your travels , Take Care xx👍🤗
Hi there Lynn, thanks for subscribing. I'm 46, Paul is 57 and Ernie has just turned 1. We both took early retirement and are living off savings at the moment. We got the boat in August last year. And have been renovating her at weekends. On 27july we moved onto her full time and left the marina she was at in August this year to continously cruise the network. We do have a q&a vlog think it's number 35 and 36. That may give you more of an insight to how and why we came about living on the water and there are also a whole playlist of videos that shoe you the renovation work we have carried out on the boat. We watch pretty much the same vloggers as you, Heidi the pirate, boattime, Julie and Martin on rhapsody in blue, barrowboat will. All of those. We are currently on the oxford canal which you will see coming up in our next few vlogs and over time we plan to do the whole network. We move at the moment every other day or so. We love it so far. Think I've answered all your questions but I can't see them at the same time as I'm typing the reply so if I've missed any just drop another comment to us. Thanks again for subscribing and we hope you continue to follow us on our new adventure 😀
@@uponreflection we certainly will, we are in Yorkshire, do you think. you will get up this way , we've visited Whaley Bridge a few times , we don't live near there , were nearer the Sheffield one , but we like to visit the basins in the countryside 😊, we've been Skipton a few times too , Thanks for your reply , looks like ,I've a lot to watch , Brilliant, looking forward to it , Take Care and Stay Safe 👍🤗
A beautiful family , a beautiful and comfortable boat, a beloved dog is all that people need for happiness ! You guys are great ! Big greetings and best wishes from the Russian city of Astrakhan.
Such a beautiful houseboat! The interiors are perfect, love the kitchen. I've always wanted to live on a houseboat, I have some lovely ones in my hometown which was by the water. I would happily live here :) Well done both!
I really love what you've done to that boat my taste and colours. I think when you have smooth walls instead of pine cladding everywhere it makes it look so much more spacious. You pair really do have good taste and creativity one of the best interiors I've seen in an narrow boat. I did notice one of your other videos you have some damp issues in the bedroom get a dehumidifier an electric one also space bags are very good for putting clothes in the ones that you seal and use the vacuum cleaner to take out the air but make sure the clothes are bone dry and preferably freshly laundered.❤
Hi Jeffrey. Thank you so much. Yes we now have an electric dehumidifier and clothes storage sorted, I lift the bed most mornings to air it. I have done a little more painting since this video and in next Wednesdays vlog you can see some of the artwork that I've painted on the bathroom wall to brighten it up a little in our miserable English weather 😉😊
