Here's another tip. Save yourself some money and DON'T' buy the fastest Micro SD card, just make sure whatever you get has XC1, V30, a 3 (in a U shape) and A2 on it, forget everything else.
I was curious about this because the SanDisk Extreme has all of that, but so does the Extreme Pro. Wonder what the difference is. EDIT: just googled it. Yeah, you are 100% correct lol
@@chriswellz If it has all those, and assuming it's not a fake, you are good to go. You won't get any better performance from higher specced cards on the deck.
@@PolarRed Yeah, I was reading that getting one of those cards would be overkill. Extra headroom that the steam deck wouldn't even use. Pointless to buy unless you using it for something else. I'm buying an sd card exclusively for the steam deck. So the Extreme I might as well get.
20 minutes in and every "tip" was a product. I was hoping for plugins, software tools, and recommended configurations. You should've said "accessories" in the title, not "tips"
Honestly prefer the DBRAND grip and hard shell over the JSAUX. I had one of them break in my bag (the JSAUX) and they wouldn't honor the warranty for it saying it 'looked like I abused it'. Also, when I'm at home I have a bunch of magnetic charging tips that I use for my phone, SD, and other odds and ends ... there are some real good ones out there that do 100W+ charging and it's nice that if you forget you are connected to a charger, it just disconnects off like Magsafe for Apple.
this is by far the best steam deck video i've seen. all other vids are literally the same: custom boot screen, put a skin, here's a case. but this is so thorough, and i literally did not know the brightness trick! earned a sub 👍
I don’t know why so many people are mad in comments, but I see lots of useful things in the video ,and I see you really trying to make good content 😌 and I appreciate it ,that’s why I got here to say ,thank you ! 😂
I hate when "tips ans tricks" videos turns out to be a bunch of ads for different devices, half of which is not even for steam deck specifically. Like cmon, "use my code so i can do more videos" - more ad videos? And i say it being a youtuber with sponsors myself.
Congrats on getting sponsors! I haven’t had any sponsored videos on this channel yet, but hopefully, I can start getting some soon. I have no issue using a code to earn a small commission on products I use and love-it greatly helps my ability to work on more videos. I apologize if my title was misleading; I couldn’t figure out a way to make it shorter, but I’m open to changing it if someone has a better, clearer idea of what this video is about. I don’t see how suggesting an upgrade to storage isn’t a tip, but I do understand that it’s a lot of products and accessories. I regularly search for accessories and how people use them, and this is my 1 out of 10 video, so it seems others do too. Having a moral high ground about where the line is for others in terms of compensation is an odd stance to take and not helpful for the community at large. If you have a personal moral issue with using a code to get a kickback on products you use and like when sharing them with others, that’s wonderful-stick to your principles and remain neutral on the subject. However, I’m looking to ramp up my ability to make more videos, and I’m not in a position to do that without making money. Since no companies are currently willing to sponsor my small channel, I’ll use affiliate links for products I genuinely use and love until I can get sponsors to support the videos I want to create. A lot of people don’t get the difference between a sponsored video and earning a commission on a product. Sponsored videos involve contracts and specific rules about what you can say because a company is paying you to promote something. On the other hand, earning a commission through affiliate links gives you way more freedom-you can say whatever you want because you’re not tied to the company. It’s just you recommending something you genuinely like. I hope this doesn’t come across as pointed at you-I’m just trying to build a bridge of empathy and understanding between us as fellow RU-vidrs. I’m new to the game, and you’re ahead of me, so I have a lot to learn from someone like you. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. I just want us to be able to call each other out on issues, if they arise, in a way that’s helpful and considers the full picture and nuances of this wild west of media. Thanks for reading, and great work on your channel-it looks amazing! Keep up the epic work!
@@nophacetech You have marketed the video as tips and tricks though not an accessory video. Plus all of the 'best' ones are just ones you have an affiliate link for, pretty shady ngl
I can agree the bose premium over ear noise canceling headphones are the end game my first set lasted about 6yrs. I bought new set about 2 yrs ago they are worth every penny.
I got a micro SD card 512gb for 34 euros 1tb internal m.2 for 81 euros The steamdeck itself is for 260 euros second-hand It's less than 400 with so much storage that I won't use And the device itself has all my steam library, + it can emulat most consoles out there NOTHING can beat the steamdeck value
Don't forget to mention that while 8BitDo controllers have gyro and analog triggers, they won't work at the same time, you have to choose, so they are somewhat limited devices.
Cool video; Im sure many people will enjoy all the different type of tech you cover. I incorporate many similar ideas into my setup and it makes the steam deck such an incredibly versatile and neat device. Looks like haters loves to comment here tryna bring you down, seems like a vocal minority keep doing what you do !
News Flash. You do not need a screen protector. It’s just plain dumb to do so. You don’t keep the deck in your pocket with keys and if it drops it lands on the joysticks. Plus you have a case. A screen protector is useless, all these RU-vidrs just make nonsense claims.
Wow appreciate the video quality and effort put into it, just recently got my steam deck oled 1tb with etched glass just curios what screen protector could work or leave as, just don’t like the idea of screen being scratched
Since you already have anti glare you don't need to double up on it I would do the first one that's just clear. Thanks for watching glad it was helpful enjoy the new steam deck 🤘🏼 1. Screen protector: amzn.to/3XaLhX2
For the bag i really recommend the tomtoc t26 it comfortably fits my steam deck with the jsuax case and 25k mah ugreen powerbank with alot more room to spare,
Yeah i think they might be pretty similar I have not tried the Gamesir Nova but i have other gamesir controllers and like them. Actually just ordered the Gamesir 8 for my phone cant wait.
I use this case and i love it and wouldn't change it because it has the front protection cover as well: 8. JSAUX ModCase: amzn.to/4fNUlYS I would probably get a skin they look pretty cool but just haven't done it. as for the sticks a company actually sent me some halleffect sticks but i just have no problem with the stock joysticks so i haven't felt the need to rip apart my steam deck and install them.
I hear you! It’s true that not every feature or accessory is a solution to a problem, but sometimes they’re just cool additions or enhancements. It’s all about finding what fits your needs and preferences. The steam deck all alone with not one extra thing is absolutely good enough!
Can virtue glass connect directly to the ps5 or i need to buy the dock ?? If i have to buy is normal steam deck dock like jasux help with that to work with ps5
For the PS5, you need to purchase the HDMI battery dock. Connect the PS5 to the HDMI input on the dock, and then connect the device to the battery dock as well. The Steam Deck docks are not HDMI-in to USB-C-out, so they won’t serve the same purpose.
Installing a screen protector is never easy. I tried 2X to install those "foolproof" protectors and both failed miserably due to dust "magically" getting under the protector between the protector and the screen's surface!
I just got and hooked up the GR 10 on my 4k HD TV. It's automatically better than Valve's dock. Edit: BE CAREFUL HOW YOU HAVE THE MONITORS SET UP. You might lose visuals on your TV if you set it up wrong. DO NOT HAVE YOUR TV AS YOUR ONLY MONITOR.
Question, for the 8bitdo controller for steam deck. Is there a way to use it without connecting it via Bluetooth? I saw that the 8bitdo ultimate comes with the receiver to plug in via regular usb cable. But I’m not sure if it will work with the steam deck dock
Hmm good point. I got a GuliKit KK3 Max, it has Bluetooth too but the 2.4 GHz wireless dongle option would need a USB-A port, and of course the Steam Deck has one USB-C. I suppose A to C adapters come in many flavors, and I bet there are 180° U-shaped adapters like shown in the video here, except they adapt with an USB-A female outlet. Personally, if I’m going to use accessories I will probably also want power, and if I’m using an external controller I might want a stand or external monitor to bring the game visuals to eye level… in that case, the Docks are the more expensive but more versatile solutions. I really liked that folding dock that the video showed here; it looks expensive, but buy once, cry once, and then portable and home needs are met. And I bet the 2.4 GHz controller dongle could just stay connected to the dock, so there’s one less thing to connect. Oh, and of course, just using the controller wired via USB cable is an option.
It works via the first dock he shows in this video. I have them both. But the black controller. The dongle goes into the dock. It is the only way I can get it to to work with any device. Conversely the snes like controller works with any device apart from Sony stuff.
I’m getting a lcd one soon. Do you think it’s worth it to download windows 11 on it? I know I should get a rog ally but I can find a lcp steam deck for like 250 which is in my budget right now. I just wanna be able to play cod, rainbow six siege, ect
Hey man, getting the LCD is a great idea-by far the best handheld for the price! Dual booting Windows and SteamOS is an awesome option. I’ve been running Windows off an external drive for a long time, but if you want portability with Windows, definitely go ahead and set it up to dual boot.
If you ONLY want CoD and such I say go for a Rog AllyX. I don’t want Windows anywhere near my SD but if you’re not into Linux just go with the Rog so everything runs natively.
I don’t know Rainbow 6’s system requirements, but CoD has scalable graphics options and a well-optimized engine. The Steam Deck, despite being portable, is about as powerful as a PS4 Pro. I don’t think the base-level SSD has enough storage space for CoD to install though, CoD needs 150 GB in addition to the system software (Windows 11 is about 27GB, and you always need some free space for the system to run). And yes, saving up for a ROG Ally would start you with Windows, and the Z1 Extreme chip in the Ally X and original Ally (skip the slower Z1, it’s worse than the cheap LCD Steam Deck) technically is more powerful than the Steam Deck. However, that processor chews through battery faster than the Steam Deck, the Ally (X) is unlikely to ever hit 120FPS on CoD or 🌈 6, and at 11 or lower TDP settings the Z1Extreme doesn’t perform as well as the Steam Deck. Windows causes an additional hit against performance and battery life compared to Steam OS. But for other FPS games and other shooters, SteamOS will run them better. The LCD screen is fine, not as good as the OLED but you always have an option to use an external monitor, like the one used here for a “laptop” screen or later on you can get OLED glasses like the Viture One (I also use a pair of these!). You can always upgrade the SSD too.
@nophacetech Thank you for the nice video! I was going to buy the external VITURE BAttery with adapter, but your link does not work, and on their website I can still find the battery, but not the adapter for STEAMDECK…what was the reason why they discontinued that?
Interesting-the link works for me. Are you perhaps in a country they don’t sell to? They also have the attachment on their website; it’s called the ‘Mobile Dock Mount for Steam Deck.
@@nophacetechI live in Spain/Italy. Your link does not work for me, and I cannot see the “mobile dock mount for steam deck” in their website. They advertise the viture battery only for Switch.
Your laptop solution is really cool ! That's something i would be intrested in ! Too bad the keyboard is not available in europe ! Shipping from USA to my country is like 100$ ...
dang that sucks you cant get that keyboard that's what really makes it all work and its cheap here for how nice it is.. maybe look on ebay and other places.
Ehhhhh I think you should have gone over more about how to play games on steam because I’m about to just sell my steam deck I can’t play battlefront 2 or any of the games I actually wanted to play it’s ridiculous
The ROG Ally might be a better fit for what games you wanna play. You can get windows on the steam deck but at that point I would just go with the Ally or Ally x
its the Viture colab model you can get it on vitures website and my code will get you 10% off Virtue x 8BitDo Controller: pro.viture.com/JoshuaGray 1. CODE 10% OFF: JOSHUAGRAY
@@firechar2722 oh interesting looks like they now make a xbox version and no longer make the one like mine this way here is a link for what your looking for: amzn.to/3Xv2ydF
@@nophacetech Yeah, that'd be cool. I've not got a Steam Deck yet, but I'm about to - I'm really interested in the other things that Steam OS can do, since it's Linux based, the possibilities should be pretty endless!
its made by viture its called: Mobile Dock Mount For Switch - you can get 10% off using my code: JOSHUAGRAY you just have to look through all there products to find it but it's awesome for the switch: www.viture.com/store?discount=JoshuaGray
That’s too bad. 8BitDo is a very reputable controller company. I own about seven controllers from them, and the Viture X 8BitDo has been great with my Steam Deck. All of them work flawlessly. Hopefully, they can resolve the issue quickly. Have you reached out to Viture or 8BitDo?
Steam deck OLED owner here, most of this stuff is ass and u don't need, what for me its a buy is: esentially a screen protector, not for falls but for dust, if ur deck falls the screen will be the last thing to worry about, a good usbc cable, a good powerbank and some micro sd, i personally prefer Samsung EVO 512(i hsve 3), also u dont need that protection shit at all, its like puting an armour to ur cpu😂 totally no sense and overheats, for a bag u could get the jsaux box but its big so its a 50/50 for me, not easy to carry
