"48 Hours” contributor Troy Roberts on his life-changing decision 

Vanessa, Jonah's mother died several years later after he was adopted by Troy.

"Jonah" was old enough at adoption to know his identity as a different name. He knew his mother. I wish Troy had made more effort to maintain some link with his original identity. I think this may have some repercussions as the boy grows into adulthood. Sad to hear the mum died. I hope "jonah" has support to live with the implications.

​@@Missliaz I see. No wonder people in the comment section were so skeptical. What I mean is: I kept on reading comments that say they didn't trust this dude. And they questioned his narrative. At first I was wondering how they could question this dude's intentions. But, now I have had a few days to think about it and started to link together a few instances of fakers. For example: Homeless advocates in California are all exploitive liars that don't want to solve the homeless problem. They just want to ride the issue for their own gain. That is just one example. And so, more and more, I think I understand your point: ie: people lie and pretend to do good. They are all bad people. We really have to question people's true motives. Oh: and this random example just popped in my head: that move with sandra bullock (i think it iis named "precious" or "bird nest" or somehting)where she saves this one black kid and then says "he saved me" is another example of hollywood bs. I mean, it is so clear now that all of this is crap bs. I mean I even hear that mother teresa was an conniving lying person who took advantage of the poor. This is truly a sad world. such bs. There is truly no redemption. Just sad.

So very sad she passed within a few years of Jonah being adopted, but lovely that she knew she had done the very best for her son and given him the best possible chance of a great future life. What more could a loving mom do ? Utterly selfless, and I am sure her great qualities will naturally be passed onto her wonderful boy Jonah x

Curious to also know this. She made the comment "time would only tell" to if he'll be a good father for her son. I hope he's staying in contact so she can actually see that he is. I was even hoping she'd come up to see him on Thanksgiving.

He molded the boy to be what he wanted. Everything he taught him was from his way of life. He took the child so far from his culture and the traditions of his maternal side. It’s a complete erasure of who he was early in his life. Doesn’t seem like an uplifting tell but rather one in which a child lost his identity.
